I was actually delighted that coal was an ingredient in the poison resistance potion. It's used to induce vomiting and absorb the toxin if you accidently ingest a poison in real life. Kind of a nice touch of realism.

To transfer to/from your ship in one fell swoop, you can stand on the deck of the ship (or the dock) and overload your carrying capacity but because you're in range of the storage box you won't use any stamina when you turn and put it into the box/cargo hold! Actual advanced tips. Always carry a root mask with you, it’s great for slimes in both the swamps and plains acting as a poison resist potion. You can drain out the tar pits in the plains for a lot of extra tar by digging a giant hole in the ground next to the tar pit and digging into the pit. It takes very little materials to scrounge up in the world to create a camp fire and place a roof piece or two on a tree for the rested buff. Do not train mobs to your portal and nothing will ever kill or attack it even if it is unguarded. Learn how to kill every mob in the game melee including lox, berserkers, abominations and trolls. Abominations take extra damage with a axe. Shield blocking a mob and hitting them a few times while they are stunned can easily take out a troll or lox. The plow is super useful in both the swamps and the mountains. In the swamps you can create land bridges all through the water with the plow and in the mountains you can great little walkable paths on the side of mountain walls. You can find extra iron in the swamps by using a wishbone. You can transport large amounts of ore quickly by making a new seed world, stashing your ore there, switching back to your main world and portaling into base, log back into the other world and loot the ore and then log back into your base.

Then I'm never far from a safe respawn, and I don't have to put a ton of effort into making new huts, as the ruins only usually need one or two walls repaired.

Tip #20 Always prioritize upgrading your bow. In most biomes, it's your best offensive tool. The better your bow, the easier the overworld will be to manage. The only real exception is the swamp where the mace is good against blobs and oozers. Also rush frost arrows as soon as you get to the mountains as frost arrows slow enemy move speed. A good bow with frost arrows is VERY powerful.

If you want to get around the ore teleporting block just load up your character with ores. Open another server with that character, build a chest and unload all the ores in that chest. Go back to the original server and teleport home. Log into the second server and retrieve your ores. Go back to the original server holding all the ores and you're now at home with your ores. Structure degradation should only occur for wooden structures that are submerged in water or exposed to the rain, and will stop at 50%. Covering wooden structures with roofs should prevent degradation (note that floors don't count seem to count for stopping degradation), and if placing a structure in the water try to use stone. As a side tip when exploring instead of bringing supplies for a mini-base I bring stuff for a workbench and one portal. I ensure that there is always a portal at home with an unused tag (say "explore"). Then whenever it gets to be night or my inventory is full while I'm out exploring, I build the portal and return home to drop off stuff or sleep before tearing down the portal and continuing exploration.

ok one more tip, in the plains there are cloudberries, they are amazing early game stamina food. if you happen across a plains and there is a patch of cloudberries near the biome border, mark it. either do a naked run to grab them using eikthers power, or use troll armor and sneak to them. they give 40 stamina and 13 hp. you get multiple berries per bush, so 12 bushes means 24 berries every couple of in game days, and the stamina boost last for 15 minutes. thats better than honey, combining honney, cloudberries and deer meat makes for 140 stamina 81 hp, and 4 hp/tick regen. great combo for mining or early boss fights where stamina is needed a little more than hp. worth the risk. especially if you already died recently and have no skill drain active.

So, a few tip fixes/complements: - For the path creation you can use the "Pathen" function of the hoe, sometimes the flatten makes the ground too uneven to travel with the cart - For the map icons, simply right clicking on an icon you placed will mark it with a red "X", simply tagging the ones you already cleared like this is easier - For the quick house it's better to just pick up some woods around since you won't need much to do it and it will leave you more precious inventory room - Building decay only happens if it is uncovered by a roof to a min of 50% of health (Stone structures don't decay) - The stone/wood piles can be dismantled like any other structure with the hammer (no need to smash it to bits!) - In addition to the boat inventory one, you can take carts to your boat making it possible to take much more stuff back and forth (just learned this one recently, but beware of waves and boat movement as it may damage and break the carts) - Additional tip: ALWAYS CARRY A PORTAL

An update is needed for this video: your icons are now passed over via the map table along with your map exploration data. Never remove an icon on a crypt etc, either left click them to X them out or right click to remove and place them again renamed searched crypt etc. To stop yourself from rediscovering it half a dozen times. Also consider marking berry bushes, mushrooms and thistles since they always regrow in the same spot much like the berry bushes. Another few points: -instead of building totally new little houses, try just slapping a door on some of the already existing ruins. This lowers the resources needed to just the workbench, door, bed and fire at best and at worst a few pieces of wall. -Building pieces only degrade to 50% it's not a big deal to just leave them alone and everything under a roof stays perfectly maintained. -Haldor spawns in the first one you approach of 16 possible locations equally spaced from each other and the start of that map so finding him is pretty simple.

Some protips that you missed: You can make a forge near a swamp area and turn iron bars into whatever you need, then move through the portals. Only ingot and ores are stopped. Swamp crypts can be used to build a small respawn/repair hut, you can even put a fire on top of the crypt for a rested bonus. When raiding crypts, it's very efficient to store all iron scraps in the respawn hut above the crypt, then when you are done raiding crypts, bring a longship or cart and haul all the iron in one trip.

  • @Jensen_Gaming

ingots cant be teleported, don't know where you got that from, plus a forge won't turn scrap metal into "iron bars", you need a smelter to make ingots. What respawn hut above the crypt? what are u doing with ur time? just set a damn portal ouitside. Store the iron in the coffers, there is usually one in one of the closest rooms to the entry room, or just make a coffer ouitside next to the portal. My god, these people make everything up. NEVER EVER HAD A PORTAL DESTROYED ouit in the open in the swamp. I've finished the game solo. Raided over 40 crypts.

We change the number to match a separate portal that we have placed elsewhere and marked on our map with a number. This makes it where we only have to change the number from our main portal to match up with any other portal on our map. Want to go to destination 1? Change the portal to 1. Want to go to 3? Change it to 3. Saves a lot of room because we don't need tons of portals in the base.

1: When marking stuff on the map, just call them crypt, tomb, ore, home, troll ect, once you have done the place, simple right click them again to add a cross over them. 2: If you die in a hard to get to place, mark your body, the game dont like to keep track of more then 1 grave stone, so, if you die again, have fun remember where your body with all the good loot felt. 3: Swamp tombs, while digging in them, leave a small room open where you can snipe the enemies from, they cant get to you unless you clear it all, this will also means you dont really need any anti-poison potion for the swamp if you take care of yourself (only used for nr 3 boss). Basically, just kill everything in the swamp with a bow. 4: You can ctrl click stuff to insta place them in another box, if you ctrl click them while in the world you will throw the item out. 5: Shift click a item will give you the split this stack up, its always wanna split the stack 50%, so, just click the scrolling thing till you get the nr you want then move the item to where you wanted it. 6: Plain might be a deadly place, but, its kinda easy, you just need to have a shield with you or learn to dodge, dodge is used by holding down right click (to block), if you then press the space bar (jump), you will do a dodge roll, if you time it right, you can be fully naked and surv a mascito attack as long as you have stamina for it! You can also just swing your weapon at them once the thing charge you, they only have 45 hp or so, or, if you have a shield, block them till they hit you, then swing at them, or take them out with your bow from a great distance. The way those thing charge is that they, well, charge, then circle around for a few sec, then charge you, just attack them while they charge and gg. 7: I think this is a bug, once you die, you have to run to your grave stone to loot it, once you pick up ALL ITEM from this grave stone, you get a buff called "Corpse run", it last for around 45+ sec, it make you take -75% less dmg and give you a insane HP and stamina reg while it last, you are more or less "immortal" at this point (tho, some hard hitting mobs CAN kill you), so, eat your food and watch your stamina and health goes up while the mobs try to kill you again. You can easy just take a weapon on at this point and attack all enemies around you, once your stamina is gone, simple put your gear back on while you wait for the stamina to recharge, once your gear is on and some stamina is back, simple attack the mobs again (you will have around 15+ sec left of this Corpse run buff), then once the buff is about to be gone, make sure your at a safe spot and play normal from there. This corpse run buff can even let you kill a plain stinger naked!!!, it just take 3 simple punch and it dies! The reason i say this might be a bug is cuz i bet they wanted this buff to work once you rezz after dying (as you can run forever with this buff), not so you can be immortal vs mobs for 45 sec once you loot your stuff XD. 8: To hard to run pass tons of mobs to get to your body?, mix tip 2, 4 and 7!, mark your main body up, then once you run there, have at least 1 item in your inventory (so, if you die, you drop this item via grave stone, this will in turn make you immortal once looted for 45 sec = 45 sec extra you can run to your body, once you then loot your main body = another 45 sec immortallity (but srsly, eat some food to at least buff your health in this stage). If your main body inventory is full and you picked up a random item a long the way, dont forget to ctrl click all those item so you inventory is 100% free, so you can "loot all" at once. If you use the belt from the dwarf that give you 150 more (from 300 to 450) and you died with tons of heavy stuff, you will NOT auto loot all your item, instead, you have to click the "take all" on your body, you still get the effect, just remember to use the belt so you can move with your char, as you might be at 360 once you loot all the stuff, you really need to remove all item from the grave stone in order to get the corpse run buff. 9: You know how castle in old age had those water stuff around them?, mobs here dont attack you if you dig a trance around your base, since they dunno how to pass it or jump.

Coal is used in poison resistance meads because many, many toxins are absorbed by activated charcoal/coal, the main component of both coal and charcoal is carbon. Many toxic substances, both natural and synthetic, chemically binds to activated carbon and become inert. Effectively turning something that the body can't properly process and is damaging to it, into something that's harmless and can be processed easily. All it takes to activate the charcoal is high heat which, in the case of Valheim, is done when you make the base at the cooking station. It's an interesting and well researched/thought out recipe for the game so I thought I'd share!

i have a rather awsome tip i hear no one talk about or use. when mining ore you get stone as a by product. during the copper age most players drop stone on the ground around the ore node in favor of the more valuable ore. my tip, bring a hammer and a hoe. when your done minning the ore, drop the ore, place a chest down, put all but one half stack of stone in it, then use the hoe to rais the ground above the chest in an obvious manner, then mark of the ore deposit and a stone cache. pick up your ore and continue on as always. later on in the game when you have access to stone cutter or are building a big wall around your base, run around with the rescources for a teleporter and some wood walls. go to each of teh caches, put up a square of wooden walls(the big spikey ones) drop the portal, load up on stone, jump through, then dump all the stone on the ground. its safe to drop this on the ground if there are crafting stations nearby since they disable item despawn. go back through the portal, dismantle everything and go to the next one. once you have the stone cutter having multiple chest of stone is a godsend. its so much faster doing this than going out with even an iron pick to gather stone. those stone premades in the forest are good too if they still work.

If you place markers for Crypts, you can just left click on them again to put a red cross on it once it's cleared. This way you go back and farm Yellow Mushrooms later.

Deathsquitos can easily be avoided by rolling during their attack. you know they are attacking because they will fly low to the ground in a straight line. When they get close roll away and the attack will miss. A bow and arrow can easily dispatch them one at a time with good accuracy.

Did you know that you only need one portal in your base? You can change the name of it (rename) at your convenience to connect and teleport to multiple points in the map.

Two is better, one as a back up if you didn't rename another portal and built a new one further away. One called "home" that is never changed and one to rename. can go anywhere and always get back.

If you add roof tiles above the flooring that was damaged, it won’t decay over time. The rain is what’s degrading it, not just time. You don’t have to use a tool to break wood/stone piles. Use the hammer and deconstruct it in one shot.

instead carrying of mats to build a house whenever just take enough for a portal and go back to main base, you will get full rested and also put on troll hide for exploring instead of big boy heavy armor which slows you down

13:33 i do just want to point out, Coal (activated charcoal, anyway) is often used to purify dirty water so this could be a reason it's used...a semi-scientific explanation for ancient use. Same with the honey. Egyptians used it on wounds because (little did they know) it has anti-bacterial properties.

10:20 You also can't bring *_processed_* metals through a portal. I find it a bit annoying, it means you either have to do lots and lots of sailing or you have to build a full defensible base near every location you're gathering ore from so that you can smelt and then craft with the ingots all on site, since the finished products like tools and armor don't have that restriction. Although that doesn't solve anything when you're trying to construct furniture or crafting stations/upgrades that require ingots. You still have to haul those around by cart or ship in order to get those new bases fully set up... Also, to go along with the poison resist potions for keeping leeches and blobs from wrecking you: Having a good mace to rapidly obliterate those blobs (they're weak to blunt damage) is extremely helpful. An upgraded bronze or basic iron mace will take care of them very quickly, as well as letting you one-shot many Draugr or leeches with the alternate attack under the right circumstances. Regarding deathsquitos... Plains biomes come after mountains in terms of difficulty, so if you're still having trouble with wolves, just imagine a flying wolf that loves to hit and run and always tries to backstab you. Getting two on you at once is likely fatal until you have highly upgraded iron or wolf tier armor and shield. But if you're only up against one and you're quick, you can snipe them with an arrow right as they turn toward you for their attack run, and avoid taking damage, since their HP is low enough that practically any kind of arrow will kill them with a full charge shot. Don't try that against more than one unless you know you have the HP and armor to survive a backstab though.

Make another world and name it Storageheim. You cant take metal through portals but you can take metal to another world put it in storage. Go back to you're main world. Go through the portal then log back onto the storage world and get you're metal. It's a good work around for portals.
