@ Chad I have a question for synthesis #3. I have a 4 step synthesis where I did a friedal crafts with 1-chloropropyl, NBS, t-butOK, and then oxymercuration-demercuration. Would this be an okay alternative?

for that first synthesis, do you think a professor would accept water instead of H3O under the grignard or is H3O more prominent

For the acid workup step following a grignard, I've seen H3O+ used more commonly than H2O, but I have seen professors accept both, but I've also seen professors particular in presenting it one way over another. If your professor consistently presents it in a particular way, then I would do the same if I were you. Hope this helps!
