    Thats the biggest reason for this video! To prevent others from heading down that rabbit hole! I was thinking about what my next step would have been, imagining how much testing it would have taken to get back to the cigarette lighter causing the acc mode to stay on had I not realized what was taking place.

    Always love the vids from our resident Toyota specialist. Ramon at KY garage had a problem with some Sequoia headlights. He traced it down to a BCM. He is wondering if the BCM needs to b programmed. Its an 05. I was thinking not. But u r the man on that subject. Miss the vids!! Thank u PJ!!!!

    Thank u for that great tip. Always enjoy and look forward to your vids. Just pulled a Scion/Camry 4 cylinder out the bottom of the car. Disconnecting wiring loom from the computer and the fuse box is definitely the way to go. Pull the intake after engine removal also much easier. I don’t know yet if it popped the threads out of the block. Fun and games in Toyota world.

    Funny, I had the same issue with my 2016 4 Runner...I believe there is a diode in my phone charging battery pack which had failed...had it plugged in for almost 2 years...I think I may have even posted something about this on your channel a while back to watch out for !!!...glad you found it !!

    I had the EXACT same issue on a 2020 Corolla last year. I checked the key battery was good, plugged in the tech stream and made sure the smart key was registered to the vehicle that was good, then i pulled up the data list for door locks and watched the data parameters.. I checked around and saw some aftermarket cell phone charger plugged into cig lighter socket, i removed it and what do u know the key fob started working. Guess it was causing some weird backfeeding issue. Really odd....Keep up the great vid PJ

    Good morning PJ. On the 05 Scion Tc, I went the route that Eric from South Main auto went with his RAV 4. I got the kit and did all the bolt holes. It's on the engine stand right now. Should b starting install Friday. Maybe smoke Tuesday. Also, one last quick question. One of the balance shafts has a gear on it that seems to have rubber dampening inside. It has a fair amount of back and forth play. Is that normal? They r selling the car, sure they r, so just reinstalled it as per my fastidious markings. I ran out of red fingernail polish on that one. I marked every gear and every chain in that whole engine. Yellow and and white markings pens too. Thanks for all your help!!!

    Nice find PJ! Does that have something to do with the DCM telling the Immobiliser ECU not to work because it doesn't like what it sees?

  • @VoltageDropDiagnostics

    @VoltageDropDiagnostics

    3 жыл бұрын

    I didnt look at a wiring diagram. I just think that instead of the ignition switch sending power to the cigarette lighter, the cigarette lighter was backfeeding power to the ignition switch as well as a few modules, most likely the body control module.

    Dumb people that cannot pay ANY attention to anything or correlate the new gizmo addition with the exact time the locks stopped working. Not to add that they bought a very cheap and badly designed power bank that back-feeds power when not energized. Probably why most makers disconnect the cigarette lighter when the car is off.
