No one takes your seat, but you dont get overhead bin space to stow your luggage

If you don’t board early by the time you get to your seat the overhead bins will be full and you will need to check your carry-on.

I used to be a frequent flyer and one time I boarded early only to be told by a flight attendant to move to first class seat as an upgrade became available. She had me move against the people boarding and made a way by walking in front of me.

We hit unexpected huge turbulence, the flight attendants were sprinting to sit down, but someone was stuck in the lavatory and couldn’t get out as we were all plummeting towards our deaths. It was probably the wildest ride of their lives.

Why you shouldn't board first btb ??? When you board first , you shouldn't have to stand in the line or you shouldn't worry about your luggage coz you will be the first one to occupy.

You want to board first to get your carryon near your seat and avoid the long line to board. Always have your seatbealt on when sitting. The TCAS goes off way more than10 miles as it is to late to avoid traffic headon when each aircraft is going 500 mph. Separate meals no matter what for pilots. Thunderstorms can go as high as 60k ft. You go around them, not over or below.

Exactly. I board first because I’m autistic and deaf and it gives me a chance to get a look around, settle in, and observe without being overwhelmed. About to take my first flight with my new service dog, really nervous about that, but have booked our seats carefully. It’s going to be okay!

These days if you don’t board early sometimes they end up checking your carryon because there is no more overhead space. So yeah, I agree, board early.

I’ve been traveling on planes since 1970. 1972 I traveled alone with my papers in a pouch around my neck and the stewardess walked me to my seat as the first passenger on the plane. That’s the last time I boarded first. My carry on fits under the seat as it should. I have no interest in spending additional time in a cramped seat with a large number of other people when I have a reserved seat. People bumping me constantly as they pas down the aisle, sitting in the wrong seat, trying to jam their oversized carryons in the overhead, children crying, etc. I prefer getting on, going straight to my seat and hopefully avoiding most of that.

again, while some airlines might require this, it's not mandatory everywhere. my dad was a commercial pilot, and he said the only reason why the pilots eat different meals on occasion is usually because there isn't anything else available, ie he'll eat whatever is left in the kitchen. sometimes there might only be two sandwiches left, and that they happen to be different is pure coincidence, he'll just pick the one that sound most appetizing. he might discuss his meal choices with his co-pilot to make sure the co-pilot get's something he likes if it's available. the pilots aren't allowed to eat at the same time because one pilot needs to be at the controls at all times. so he'll usually wait for his co-pilot to finish his meal and possibly go to the bathroom before starting his own meal. if it's something quick and small like a homemade peanut butter sandwich, then it's probably no issue to eat at the same time (cuz it's 3 bites and it's finished)

Pack a small carry on bag to keep under the seat in front of you - for all the things you need quick access to - charger, passport, wallet, book, pen, hygiene products, vitamins, sleeping pills, snacks etc….The bag you put in the overhead lockers can go anywhere and not a problem if it’s away from your seat.

Was a 1,000 top flyer with Star Alliance for a few years - board early if you have hand luggage if not flying business/first class. On business/first class you can board last and enjoy your lounge longer. Once had a security officer write "SSSS" because he was unhappy that I stood a little (3 inches) too far from his table to his liking. Later - being an official US guest - the security officer on my connecting US flight looked at the ticket in amazement and asked why it had gotten the SSSS-treament. I said the guy had a bad day and they gave me a new blank ticket.

In my case, I completely disagree. I always board first. Have gold card on star alliance and platinum on one world, so regardless of what ticket I have I can board first. Get my stuff out of the way and watch all the others standing in line and struggle... time to relax! I keep my noise canceling on most of the time, even to just "play quiet". Only exception is when I sleep in biz class. Ear plugs are comfier then. My pro tips: 1 never put your carry on in a bin behind your seat row, unless you know you will exit in the back on arrival. 2 there is a small latch that will unlock the aisle side arm rests to fold them up, near the pivot point in the back. Lets you slide out easily if your tray table is down and full of stuff. 3 At the aisle, under the seat level, the is a foot step for short people to reach the bin better. 4. When you're on a part empty flight, look around, wait for the announcement: "Cabin crew, all passengers on board." That's when you can relocate and try to grab a whole seat row where you can lay down. Best feeling of a flight is when they scan my boarding pass at the gate and the light goes red... upgrade coming!

As a pilot.. a lot of things sure aren't correct 😅😅

I fly often and always bring disinfectant wipes to wipe down my entire area before sitting down, entire seat, seat belt, window and wall, tray table, and back of the seat in front of me.

Flight attendants don't clean planes. Airlines have cleaning crews.

Someone found my Boarding pass and knows my name. TRAGIC.

ive definitely had the checkerboard thing on a few of my boarding passes in the past but ive never been thoroughly screened, but theres usually already 3 or 4 other carry ons they're already digging into so maybe its not worth it for them, especially since I follow all the rules to make sure I dont get stopped for any useless reason. dont know how credible that is that being said, but next time I fly I will check for that or the "s"
