Why Ultra-Long Flights Are Better Than Short Ones

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Long-haul flights. You know, those marathon adventures that fly you half-way around the world, are terrifyingly boring, and tire you to no end. But nowadays, long-distance travel is nothing like it was years ago! And the experience of flying 20 hours straight might turn out to be much more enjoyable than you expected!
Let's say you need to get from Singapore to New York, which usually takes about 19 hours. Chances are, you'll travel the distance of almost 10,000 miles on a plane that has been designed specifically for flying super-long routes. Travelers have more space between armrests, more head and shoulder room, as well as more legroom. On top of that, the air circulation and lighting in the cabin are adjusted in a way that’s supposed to help passengers deal with jet lag more easily!

Animation is created by Bright Side.
SUMMARY:
- One of the most exciting features of Airbus A350 is its tail camera! You’ll be so mesmerized by your gorgeous airliner crossing the globe, you probably won't even pay attention to any other in-flight entertainment.
- The Dreamliner does everything to make your journey feel like a dream. For example, it has a special system that makes the air in the cabin much more humid.
- An LED lighting system makes it easier for you to adjust from daylight to darkness at night, and the air circulates around the cabin every two minutes.
- Long flights are usually more comfortable than short ones, what with all these bigger seats and more space. And it doesn't even matter whether you fly economy or first class.
- Almost all long flights have great in-flight entertainment. So, you can occupy your time by watching movies, listening to music, or playing games.
- The only alternative to a long-haul flight is to fly for 8 or so hours, jolt awake, sleepily gather your things, and spend several more hours at an unfamiliar airport.
- If you know that you’ll need to go to the bathroom pretty often or will feel the need to stretch your legs, choose an aisle seat. Otherwise, you'll have to climb over your dozing neighbors.
- Remember to ask cabin crew the right questions. And the first one should be, "Is the plane full?" Because, if it isn't, you can probably have another, more comfortable seat.
- Every time you fly, it's better to put on comfortable clothes. But on ultra-long-haul flights, it's critical.
- It's a good idea to fill your water bottle at the airport before take-off, and keep drinking this water during the flight.
- Try to sleep as much as you can on a long-haul flight. It’ll allow you to get to your destination in a reasonably adequate, non-zombie state.
- You probably know that you can claim compensation if your flight is delayed, overbooked, or canceled. But what few people are aware of is that the longer the flight is, the bigger the compensation.

I once flew on Singapore Airlines’ flight from Singapore to New York and it was about 20 hours. It was incredibly long but what made it better was the 3 meals, premium economy and wonderful service from the cabin crew. I walked around from my seat to the bathroom to keep myself active. The cabin was so quiet that I didn’t notice we landed.

It is sometimes kind of annoying that flight attendants can dim the windows on a 787. On a United flight from India to Newark on a 787 the flight attendant dimmed the windows for the entire flight. They expected all the passengers to sleep 13 hours, but some just can’t.

I flew Singapore Airlines Singapore to New York before. Even in economy class, they have a free snack buffet at the back of the airplane. They have everything ranging from Sandwiches to Kit Kats to Pringles. It is a very nice experience with no economy on board. The minimum class is premium economy which gives you more legroom, nicer food and a better experience

Had to go to an emergency trip from Singapore to New York once, returning the same day. 7 hours to Beijing, 7 hours layover (none of my social media apps worked in Beijing so it was torture), 14 hours to New York, and after 12 hours I had to return back to Singapore. Literally the worst experience of my life, my body had never felt so tired. Had to rest a full week after to recover from the experience.

I recently flew Aer Lingus between Chicago and Dublin. We flew on an Airbus A330-300. The seats in economy were reasonably comfortable, dinner was okay, and the entertainment options were very widespread. However, on the flight from Dublin to Chicago, the route map froze. About the only negative I have against the airline, and it's not even that major.

Facebook just deleted 600 of them or their relative likeness. If you look in the description, you can see they got their pic from China, and they are associated with five minute crafts, and get some of their information from a Russian website.

I don't know about other people, but I personally love the 787 dimming windows, I was on a flight from New Zealand to London on which I stopped at hong kong before transferring to another flight, on the way back we flew in a cathay pacific 777 to hong kong and I remember leaving at night and arriving in hong kong during day time, when it was light I tried to lift up the slider on the window and I was instantly blinded and the whole plane got lit up from that one window (big mistake), we transferred to an air new zealand flight which was a 787 and I did the same thing except the different levels of dimming meant I could ease into the sunlight and not have my eyes burnt and die.

Before the flight took off they gave you 1 bowl of skinny and thick fries 🍟 and a selection of drinks like coke, Fanta (all flavours), Milk and water and they all stay warm or cold (not first class)

an answer to the thumbnail: no, the shape doesnt differentiate for the length of the flight. the curved cabin was most likely an A320 wich is pretty round, and the "straight" cabin was most likely a 777. so it depends on the aircraft, not the length of the flight

Going to the US from Australia we thought that breaking the journey at Hawaii might be worthwhile. But each flight was too short to get a proper sleep so they call it the "red eye flight". Typically with all the changes of transport etc we are travelling for 33 hours. Which is pretty exhausting. But getting a 15 hour flight gives a chance for an 8 hour sleep somewhere along the way.
