I really like your videos, I’m a local too. Can’t afford to eat out very often so I really appreciate your videos. Have been to about 25% of the restaurants you’ve made videos about. Used to go the California Hotel 2 to 3 times a year to get prime rib, oxtail soup and especially miso butter fish. The fish is a real Hawaiian treat that is hard to find for a decent price!

Yup. Been to both many times, & have videos on both. I still like Jerry's Nugget, cuz they have a giant one, around 50 oz

Thank you for your video review. The Cal used to be my home casino and I enjoyed all of their cafe specials including the prime rib and oxtail. But now the prices do not do justice to the quality and quantity that you get. It's like that all over Vegas now. High prices for mediocre food. Keep up your good work providing us with honest and detailed reviews.

It is what it is at the Cal. It’s not a place you go out of your way for prime rib, but it’s not bad. Aloha specialty is another good spot! Especially if there’s Laperts ice cream nearby

Thanks for sharing. We have the tradition of getting ox tail late at night after we get to the hotel. Great meal after a long flight. And I feel the prime rib is worth the price, especially since it comes with dessert and sides. Too bad they raised the prices. I also got it at $15.99 last year haha.

That's where all the Hawaii people stay. Boyd hotels have great package deals from Hawaii. That prime rib looked pretty good for the price, but then again it may be your camera skills. Your pics of food always look great. You should produce ads & menus for restaurants.😁

For the value I enjoy going to the cafe at California casino for the prime rib and I have been eating at this cafe since the early 90’s. 😊

I've worked fine dining. For Prime Rib roast, it should be cooked rare and kept in a warmer. then for specific orders, each cut can be cooked more to the desired level,. So there shouldn't be any excuse regarding not getting your prime rib cooked to desired level.

Agreed, however, it's probably cooked to somewhere between rare and medium rare, then dunked in warm jus for a couple of minutes to give it the juicy look.

I always look forward to your videos, and would be happy to see one pop up no matter how infrequently. I have cut down my viewing to just a couple now, only those who have other income and do it just as a “hobby”. I lose interest as soon as the creator accepts comped meals and sponsorships. You should do what is best for you. Thanks for all your time and work.

I think the Friday special is oxtail stew, which is different from the nightly special of oxtail soup. Both are delicious, but the stew doesn't include the cilantro and ginger.

Haha. It's the big Vegas buffet experience. It depends on what you want. Lesser quality than premium restaurants, a bit cheaper than restaurants with huge selections. Some of it isn't too bad. But mass produced and sits for awhile. But you can have AYCE chilled shellfish in the Vegas buffet atmosphere. I'll go now and then, but I can find better... and sometimes I'll pay more for quality. But the buffet isn't that bad. Some people like it. And seafood for that price is actually cheaper than seafood restaurants. You have to decide what kind of experience you want.

Gave up on the place. Prime Rib skyrocketed and the oxtail was all broth and bones for that price. Used to be three 2x a week but that’s history now. The Markey Grill had its day sad to say.
