HUGE Respect for Trevor Dayley!
Trevor has such a great personality for this type of teaching and for representing Magmod with the "How I Shot It" videos...he's so kind and encouraging to everyone. Plus, he's got such a command of lighting! Really enjoyed this and learned a lot! Thanks! Love the end where he encouraged everyone to help out others even if it will never benefit you personally.

Cant figure out the EXPLOSION OF LIGHT part. Tired it today bouncing the flash off the wall (magmod bounce) and all I got was a silhouette. How do I get results like the pianist picture?
hi there from UK. So the section about the complimentary colour chart what WB setting did you have on as Im not confused with another magmod lecture with said mag mod pics where they adjusted the Kelvins and used the CTO and CTB gels...... what are you suggesting?

Great video but I wish he'd have given more indication of the powers of the flashes in each position to get a good balance. I doubt they were all set to the same power.
@MagnetMod
4 жыл бұрын
Rob, thanks for your comment! The flash power is seldom given in these scenarios mainly because there are so many factors that would change the flash power needed. You could plug in all the exact settings mentioned, and if your flash was the slightest bit closer or further away, or your ambient light could be slightly different, and you could get a potentially over or underexposed photo. Also, different flash brands and even sizes of flashes will produce dramatically different output, even if they're set at the same level. The very best thing to do is experiment a bit with flash power, distance, and modifiers to achieve the look you're going for!
@Rob147Harris

@@MagnetMod Granted but how about approximate ratio's then? The relation from one flash to the next.
bro 2 o clock or 10 o clock means ,what position the head of flash should face,whether to face the subject back(at 45 degree) or towards the photographer ( straight maybe 0 degree)

Trevor Dayley my question is for rim light setup in 3 o clock position,,how should be point the flash at 3 o clock ,either towards the shoulder of subject or towards the camera (straight towards camera)

Good video. Sorry about your Mom. The echo of the sound in this large room made it difficult to understand him, so I didn't watch it all the way through. Sounds like he was down in a well. If I could turn up the treble it might improve the quality of the sound.

Hi Ray, yeah just as I was about to start the presentation our AV guy was having a few issues with the lav mic. So as a result we ended up placing a handheld recorder on the podium to record the sound. We will work on improving that the next time.
