By watching your videos and listening to your thoughts on ideas, strategies etc. I’ve improved so much that I’m now almost at 1900 elo, from ~1200 on rapid 6 months ago. You’re a really good teacher and I wanna thank you on that that. For any ”beginners” to under 1800 elo, my advice is to always take your time when you’re not sure what to do and also when you blunder, never give up. Ps and learn the halloween gambit I’m still winning with it at 1800😂👍

12:38 in addition to no knight checks from one square away, you’re also safe two diagonal squares away. in general you can only be checked by knights on the same color square as your king

It actually takes a knight a minimum of 3 moves to check a king that is two squares diagonally away.

Shouldn't say in general when it can be completely the opposite you will just confuse people and probably give them unnecessary losses... ex. 3 out of 4 of the black squares each have 2 possible check moves for a white king if moved there but 3 out of 4 white squares are safe from further checks (however!!) that is from only one perspective of a L attack from a different angle it again can become the opposite... apart from what the other guy said in reply to you yes that is true and its the only safe move you should make without worry but any other move out of a knight check should be made with caution. The uploader really made a mess out of his explanation here too tbh ..."ahem excuse me". Just throw a knight and a king in the middle of a board and you'll see what I say is true.

@@trickishxsham huh? |x|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|x| when a knight is on one of the x:s (that is, exactly two squares away diagonally from the target square), it takes three moves to move to the other x is what I'm saying. i have no clue what you're trying to say. *edit:* just realized that you were talking about the color thing. it is indeed also a completely general rule. a knight changes color each move, which means that it will always take at least 2 moves for a knight to move to another square of the same color and equivalently, it takes 2 moves to attack a square of the opposite color that is not currently attacked

12:32 "Orthogonal" is the adjective that you're looking for. "One orthogonal square away." Orthogonal is the counterpart to Diagonal.

A good expansion of Principle 14 would be that you can never be checked by a knight in 1 move if your king is on the opposite color square of the knight, since a knight must always move to an opposite color square. So if the knight is on white and the king is on green, any move by the knight must be to a green square, which then could only be attacking white squares.

Not if the regular check forces your opponent into a skewer, forced sacrifice or forced mate.

Principle 14 - yes , always remind to stand one square next to the Knight , not diagonally or you'll get checked!

I agree on trading for no reason but 2 knights is a lot of squares to calculate. I’ll usually get rid of 1 at some point. Depending on the game(color bishop)

These principles are not useful. Here are my suggested chess principles: 1. Don't play unfamiliar openings unless you are grandmaster. Play all games with 1-2 openings is great. It can help you avoid blunder in openings and save your time. 2. Always look for attacking move rather than defensive move. It can help you gain advantage and give pressure to opponent so that the opponent may blunder. 3. Make use of a or h file attack when the opponent has castle king. It is hard to defend if rook and queen both lies on a or h file to attack castle king. 4. Don't trade or give up center pawns unless there are good reason. With center pawns, the opponent will have difficulties in making strong attack. 5. Knight is more dangerous than bishop in endgame. Usually you don't have too much time in endgame but Knight can fork pieces easily. You should try to use bishop to trade knight in bishop vs knight endgame to make sure you get at least a draw. 6. When the opponent has not developed all minor pieces and castled king, you should rush for attack castled king by pawn storm or 1 major and 1 minor piece. It will help you gain advantage and put the opponent in defensive position. 7. Don't castle king unless there are good reasons because you wasted a move for possible development of other pieces or making attack. 8. King should be active most time. Don't be afraid of keeping the king at center. Once you have survived, the king will help you to win the endgame.

The amount of arrogance is so high that I first thought this is trolling but there's so few pieces of blatantly wrong advice that I wonder... No good player would agree with 5 though. 1 stunts growth as a chess player the longer you adhere to it. 3 seems very situational, so does 6. 8 is either badly worded or false. King shouldn't be active in the early or middle game.
