525d has a rather short stroke of 82,8mm, which contributes this engine's affection to be reved high. It also has not that sudden turbo boost of the usual turbo diesel cars. It delivers its power in a smooth way, almost like a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Driving it now for 8 years, still in love

the old BMW's when properly mainained drive incredibly smooth and quiet. I drive the same BMW as showed and .... boy oh boy... there's no better car to swallow hundrets of km.

I have the same model, but also my wind noise is much more from your car, where can be the problem. Speeds from 90km/h already, there are a lot of wind noise. The M57 engine is very solid. If is good maintain, it can reach 500 000km without any issue.

Perhaps you have already had the windshield replaced. And maybe not professionally? Motorically I must also say that are very stable and reliable.

@@bimmermedia the users mostly forget to change oil in the transmission, and after 200k km and an oil change, the ZF break down. Happened for my parents and for my friend as well. The turbo is a new one, one injector new (from 530d). So everything is new that can break down. I gonna buy that car in this year.

@@bimmermedia I resolve the wind noise, by replacing the door seals they were broken on many parts, both the driver and passenger. The car is quiet again.
Later on aftermarket in Latvia 🇱🇻😂😂😂 just from Germany, one owner from new, grandpa used only for local shopping 🛍🤣🤣🤣
Звук турбины один в один как у меня, вой. Сколько не диагностировали все говорили, что живая и это нормально, но я сколько садился в другие E39 m57, звука не было, на видео точно как у меня на 530d, едет чуть бодрее

Ho felicemente preso,ormai un anno fa,un 525d del 2001. Ogni volta che ce l ho tra le mani mi chiedo come sarebbe stato il 530d da 184 cv o 193. Ma poi mi rendo conto che per ciò per cui è stata concepita se la cava egregiamente. Non ha bisogno di essere accelerata nel traffico,è morbida al punto giusto e sa sorpassare senza fatica auto più stilose odierne,molto più gettonate e più costose. Inizialmente il mio vecchio bestione mi sembrava una cilecca. Ma poi al primo tagliando ho fatto cambiare le tubazioni attorno alla turbina e all intercooler. Poi io stesso che non sono un meccanico ho cambiato il debimetro originale bosh e la pompa di mezzo,vale a dire quella sotto il pianale nell area del sedile guida. L auto è diventata silenziosissima e accelera da fermo a fermo in seconda. In salita addirittura dovevo fermarmi anche dopo un bello slancio perché moriva,dovevo mettere la prima e giocherellare con l acceleratore e la frizione. Da quella cambiata di debimetro è diventata un altra. Incredibile cosa sappia far cambiare le cose l elettronica. Km percorsi? Boh...ne segna 97.000 ma il quadro era stato cambiato. Ho fatto una ricerca alla sportcar e mi hanno detto che nel 2011 aveva intorno ai 300.000. Per ora ha compressione da vendere e la pompa è a posto,quella motore. Anche avesse 500.000 km se li porta in groppa alla grande. Quando questo motore mi abbandona ne prenderò uno qualunque,sempre M57 2.9 cc e gli farò un tagliando e ce lo calerò, giusto un upgrade. Interni?.. in pezza. E non vi è un solo buco o una sfilacciatura e va bene così. Con il sole di estate non mi cuocio non appena apro la porta,ma anche se volessi cambiare allestimento il più accessoriato interno in pelle bicolore completo lo potrei trovare a non più di 200 euro. Certo..l auto è solo un bel mezzo meccanico, un mulo ma non acquisirà mai il valore di un e34 o a maggior ragione di un e28. E che ci vogliamo fare..io intanto guido comodo. Detto da uno qualunque che ha guidato anche bmw z4 ,bmw e90, bmw e46 berlina e coupé, bmw e36,Jaguar xtype,Fiat delle più svariate tipologie e marche fino all'inizio anni 2000..insomma ne ho guidate

Io ho fatto la tua stessa scelta a fine agosto di quest'anno, dopo aver venduto la mia Grande Punto ho preso una E39 525d Touring del 2002 con 261.000Km originali. Carrozzeria bella, interni in pelle nera perfetti e comodissimi, motore che gira come un violino 🎻 uno spettacolo ✌️ per me è la serie 5 più bella di sempre. L'ultima progettata per durare nel tempo.

Ich selber habe auch e39 525D mit Stage 1 knapp 200 PS und 430 Newtonmeter der rennt wie Sau fährt sich ruhig und meiner Meinung nach der beste 5er den BMW gebaut hat also die e39 Serie meine ich

It seems like stock bmw radio with the screen,but you can get the same one in aftermarket,some of them modified or a copy (be aware of cheap copies with poor quality) with a touchscreen,bluetooth etc. but this one in the video seems like OG BMW radio for E39s after facelift (2001) Pre facelift got a lot smaller,tiny screen with half of the pannel was just taken by buttons.
I have had my car 3 years now, I just found out it has a turbo charger 🙃

@@bimmermedia Der Wagen meiner Großeltern wurde immer sehr gut gepflegt, hatte jede 8 Monate einen Ölwechsel, wurde nicht zu brutal gefahren (Damit meine ich viel Gas geben wieder bremsen und wieder gas geben) und steht immer in der Garage. Der ist jetzt bei ca. 200.000km. Wie weit könnte der noch fahren nach deiner Meinung? Nur ne Schätzung würde schon reichen :)

You don’t have any idea about how the gear system works. When you drive e39 in S MODE, it turns to gear just 4 forward drive. When you reach max speed, you should push it to D mode
Viscokupplung begrüßt 👍 Es koppelt sich nicht läuft immer mit deswegen Geräusch wie Flugzeug

Musst eben komplette Front entfernen stoßstange/ stoßstangenträger scheinwerfer lade Luft also alles so das man den motor frontal sehen kann Danach 32er nuss mit stabiler ratsche oder Drehmoment oder eben Metall rohr und dabei noch Kontern öffnen danach ersetzen wieder zusammen Bauen fertig

@@tolga7641 geht sich aus ohne ausbau der Front, nur lüfter Abdeckung runter in mit 32 gabel aufdrehen achtung links gewinde. Ist in 45 min. Erledigt

It isnt very fast for 160hp. I chased one down in an audi a4 b7 with 3people on board and it didnt get away that quickly. If i was driving alone i would definitly be faster a bit.
