What a solid personality at that young age! Crisp words, great conduct and great presence throughout the interview Goes to show how competitive sports help build personality for kids

So this is how it all started! I actually started paying attention to her during the first WBBL. I live in NY, but CA carried all the games. I also remember her going thru a Purple patch where I thought her wicket was the most expensive in cricket. This is the time also when I thought that with Lanning they were the best 3/4 combination in all of cricket. Thank you Australia!!!!

Fast forward to 2024, She wins Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 for RCB franchise to claim their first trophy after 17years 🎉

One of the most talented multi sport athletes anywhere, one of an even smaller group to play in World Cups in two sports and a fabulous individual aside from her sports.

What? Mike Hussey came late to international cricket, debuting aged 28, had nine years at that level and only bowled occasionally. Ellyse is an all rounder, debuted aged 16 at international level and has had nearly 17 years at that level. There is no comparison between the two, other than both being extremely talented and hard working. Verdict, Ellyse didn't walk into anyone's shoes, she has created her own outstanding place in World cricket. PS Ellyse's best score at each level is higher than Mike's, despite her batting only coming to the fore later in her career. So, more proof of no comparison.

@@JohnHF1957 I said that only as a metaphor. I did not mean that literally. I said that because Hussey was her inspiration and she said that in many interviews. That's all. As for comparisons, well, at least right now, there is no way to compare men's and women's cricket properly. And that is true even for the Australian cricket teams.

@@sudipchatterjee You may have meant it as a metaphor but it doesn't work. "Walking straight into Hussey's shoes" is saying that Perry directly filled the roll that Hussey had had. Perry didn't do that. She didn't even directly fill a role that a previous Australian female had performed in the women's team because her high level skill set of bowling, fielding and eventually batting, is beyond what any former Australian player had. Ellyse has not filled anyone's shoes, or walked in anyone's footsteps, she has created her own unique spot. At the present time however, Annabel Sutherland is the only player that could possibly "walk straight into Perry's shoes". So, have some patience and you could use that as a metaphor in a couple of years. Enjoy all the cricket.

@@JohnHF1957 Every player creates her or his mark. Perry is a remarkable cricketer, just like Hussey. Women's cricket has just started to flourish recently. For example, the number of Test innings that Hussey played is almost equal to the total number of Tests played by women's cricket teams combined. Hussey had to have a phenomenal first-class record just to get a chance in the star-studded men's Aussie team; Perry didn't have to face that. Because the stages of cricket played in women's cricket and men's cricket are different. So, as I said before, there is no comparison between women's and men's crickets. You may get as angry as you like but Hussey will continue to inspire a lot of cricketers. So will Perry, I'm sure. And young cricketers will continue to "fill the shoes" of cricketers of yesteryears, metaphorically or otherwise.

Your attempted metaphor was wrong and then you contradict yourself by saying Perry filled Hussey's shoes but women's and men's cricket can't be compared. If you think that Perry has filled anyone's shoes, it would have to be a female, Belinda Clark for instance.
