I love that Nasser's instinct is always "that's unlucky" or "that's a tough catch" even when the running is terrible or the fielder turns away from a catch

We were playing in a six-a-side tournament near London, which involved an overnight stay. One of our lads had to pull out on the day we were travelling down but we managed to get a last minute replacement. First game, we asked our replacement why he wasn't getting changed? "Changed into what?" Oh dear! He trots out in what he travelled down in, trainers, jeans, T shirt and a heavy leather jacket - it wasn't even cold but he refused to leave it in the changing room and consequently kept everything he had in the pockets. We bowled first, told this lad to get his over out of the way, his first ball, you could hear everything, keys, change, toothbrush etc, clanking around in his pockets from the boundary - The batsman stopped him in his first run up to enquire what the noise was, we were pissing ourselves. He might have even taken a wicket if I remember rightly? Thanks Darren, what a laugh.
The run out from the boundary. for me, is the best arm I’ve ever seen.

My first game as a junior coach...I took over mid season, say day 1 was "let's see what we have to work with". All out 9, 10 ducks, 5 sundries (all wides) and the 4 off the bat was nicked, splitting the keeper and first slip at waist height as they looked at each other.

Back in 1991, unfortunately before camera phones, we played the 1st round of the Cup away at Halewood, Liverpool. As they were 3 divisions below us, we had them 30-7 on an all-weather wicket. The num9 came out, smashed his first ball down into the ground and it reared up above his head. The none striker, worried about it going onto his stumps cried "Kick it away!". The batter, as he searched for it somewhere in the sky, stumbled towards his stumps and in the process kicked all 3 of them halfway to Manchester! 😂 #hitwicket #30-8 #embarrassing

don't blame him there's lots of gems out there !!!!
These were gold. I love when they realise he hit his own car.
I remember seeing a West Indian named Sylvester Clark, many years ago, bowl a ball that was so far outside that the umpire went to signal wide and the batsman (a test batsman at that) was shouldering arms, but the ball came back so much off the pitch that it hit the stumps. Most amazing ball I've ever seen bowled.
I swear Stuart Broad and Ian Ward have an affinity with each other. They're going to be brilliant on commentary together in the coming years.

These cricketers belong to a small tribe in a tiny village on the outskirts of England. The village is self sufficient, they learned cricket from their great ancestors. They have never been outside of the village and this is the first time an outsider has been allowed to the village- it was the cameraman as their tribe is not permitted to use technology such as a video camera. Good on them!
I played village cricket , always had a good time post match , unlike football when it was straight home. In the 50's the Lancashire league had many world class players in their ranks , West Indian test players like Sobers . One ex Windie Roy Gilchrist a fast bowler with a fast temper . In his last match against India he would deliberately overstep the crease by yards and deliver a beamer on one occasion hit the batsman on the head knocking his turban off. Image a young kid coming out to face him. But they did without helmets for years. One story a read was regarding the great batsmam Herbert Sutcliffe who was guesting for a league side . He came in and was bowled first ball by Gilchrist . On old women shouted out , we came here to see him bat not your bowling.
at 4:28 , that was the type of ball i could bowl . ok, it was the ' only ' ball i could bowl , but at school , it moved, or it didnt , the batters never knew. And when i was around 11 or 12 , we were playing in the semi final of the house cup , and i was the bowler for the second over. Took a wicket with the first three balls. I was stunned , my team was stunned , the opposition were stunned. 4th guy comes in. For a 12 year old, biggest guy on both teams. Walked out , looked at me and said " dont you dare". Ive got a hat trick , what do i care? :) Same ball as the last three, he took a big swing , bye bye stump. He chased me half way back to the pavillion. I was laughing so hard , i couldnt breathe. Well. The next guy comes out , and that was my energy gone. They beat us by one run , or one wicket , cant remember. But i'll never forget that one over. And i still remember his name. :)
Just found your channel---this really is funny. Cant wait to see what your channel holds...all the best from Snowdonia North Wales (yes we do have a local team)...you have got my subscription.

Many years ago one of my team collected his brand new car on the way to a match at Fulbridge Road in Peterborough. He parked the car right behind the pavilion, which he thought would be safe. But then during his own innings he smashed a straight six which landed and dented his, barely 3 hour old car!

Playing 3rds many years ago. Our captain was getting married at 4pm that day about half an hour from the ground, so opened the batting, proceeded to go ballistic and made 100 in the first hour, including a 6 onto the bonnet of his Dad's car, who was driving him to the wedding.
This is actually hilarious 😆
That catch they compared to Ben Stokes is actually more like one a young Matthew Hayden took on his first Ashes tour in a one-day match. Full stretch on the boundary.

I once managed to bowl a guy, hitting top of off and middle stump) playing the cut shot. It pitched right on the edge of the artificial wicket. It was much slower than this one though! The nature of inswing bowling is you tend to fall over and it's very hard to get the line right. It's easy to spray it down leg.
That explains English cricket in general😂 Very special 😂😂😂😂
Remember watching a game on the local park. The best bowler by far was a demon girl about 15. One batsman exhorted her "Don't do 'em hard" (she ignored him) and another fielder dropped a catch because he couldn't transfer his cigaretter quickly enough.

5:32 that's inzamam ul haq for you
I played at a slightly higher level, was a mediocre batter and bowler. But, following an embarrassing missed catch when I was about 17, I turned myself into as good a fielder as anyone. The trick was working out how to be completely relaxed and totally focussed on my toes at the same time. Got loads of catches and run outs because batters didn't expect such catching or speed to get ball back to stumps from boundary. It made the whole day more interesting, especially if I'd got out early or didn't bat at all. Couldn't transfer the fielding attitude to the batting or bowling
