I watched Letterman a lot. I'm still a fan of his. Sometimes he wasn't funny or even likeable though. I saw this interview when it happened and I didn't like it at all. I think it's a completely off limits area of conversation on camera. The poor girl(she was very young at that time) has problems. I feel the same way about people asking Robert Downey Jr. about his issues. However, Letterman just did not like some guests. In the end, that's really what that was about. He was obviously getting revenge for something that happened previously.
Lindsey's incident was the worst. Making fun of somebody's attempt to get clean and sober. Shame on Dave.

Her life was already absolutely in chaos, still she goes on with her armor hanging on by a thread and he cuts the strings with no compassion at all. I hope Lindsey found peace, I have no idea where she is at right now. But Hollywood is the devils playground, she was raised there. It would have almost been impossible to not start doing drugs and drinking from a young age when it’s your first education. Drew Barrymore was a total example of that too. She made it out. Those "should" come out into the light by laws that have been set down to protect the victims but at times seems to be swept under the rug by crooked courts! BUT to make up stories or go with speculation on a single source with no FACTUAL basis...NO that is MSM hypocrisy's job! Knowing what WILL happen to you if you get into hollyweird is easier than getting out, was said by multiple actors and actresses over the decades but it rarely happens without turmoil, addictions, suicide, accidents on set and offset, outright murder, molestation, sexual deviance and more ...but yet people still flock there for fame! @Relaxicity

Laughter is usually the first response we address such a situation with. A way out of the seriousness of what happens. You see many of the victims do it to. Sometimes the unease shines through, subtly (Sandra Bullock) or less subtly (Jane Fonda), but both still laughing, to ease the situation and hoping to save a last bit of grace. But be sure that their moods turned later, when they realize the aggression they just faced. Disguised aggression, but serious aggression none the less. The audience falls into the same trap. Laugh it off hope it goes away. It's also what they came for, so definitely the first option in front of them. But most of them feel her pain, and I'm sure almost no one there was entertained by this, especially when they thought back of the incident, and as their awareness of how this affected Lohan slowly grew in strenth.
