I've been keeping it for three years and still don't want to pick it up again :/
I've watched like 5 videos on "things beginners should know about MHW" or "Things I wish I knew about MHW" and I've learned something new from each one of those videos I didn't know before. This is quite a steep learning curve game, even if the primary game loop is simple: Kill, craft, eat.
I did not know i could hold circle to gather all materials from that source, that's a big help - thank you!!

Doesn't it consume your resources though? Why eat if the monsters you're going to fight is easy?

Is it weird that I sometimes wonder what the bathroom situation must be like for these people? I mean, they eat enough for an entire five course dinner, likely just as an appetizer. I would not want to go in a bathroom after one of these hunters.
Just picked this up a few days ago, I've sunk so many hours into it, I avoided it for a while but always caught my eye, so I decided to give it a go...its safe to say I do not regret picking it up.
What? I have autosave on my PS4. Also, eat before going on an expedition cause you sometimes have to kill a monster you haven't encountered before.
I’m on HR 14 and just found out u have to send items to box after hunts...
I just bought this game yesterday and I've watched a bunch of these "Tips for beginners" videos, and I found this video the most helpful. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this, especially number 12. That's going to be so nice to know.
Are you aware that in your "Harvest everything" tip, around 7:00, your novice hunter is juggling various types of ammo for the slinger? (blue highlight) You can only carry one, so he's not actually picking anything up!
@NickC_222
3 жыл бұрын
Typically these videos are made AFTER someone gets a good grip on a game. I guess that's not the case in this instance lmao.
As a beginner this was very helpful being able to learn the basics in a short ten minuets.
I've been playing the PC version, which was released last week. So far, I see a few issues with this guide: 1) You can actually craft bone weapons as soon as you dig your first bone pile... even before your first big monster hunt. Not a big deal... but just sayin'. 2) When you mentioned food... no, beginners would not be used to carrying stat boosting potions. Because they wouldn't have the stat boosting potions or the resources to craft them at the beginning. That would actually come a bit later. And I'd argue that beginners would have as much use for food as anyone who has progressed further into the game. Maybe more so. I would also say that eating before EVERY big monster hunt is a good idea... not just as a last resort because you're having trouble with one particular monster. You also have the option of easting at the camp. I would have also mentioned how to maximize your food potential by making a custom platter by selecting "fresh" ingredients which will give boosts to health, stamina, and your palico. Also, using combinations of food by color groups can give you specialized skills and boosts. Once you understand how to make a good custom platter, you would be surprised what boosts you can get out of it that you might not get through the given pre-made choices. 3) On weapons sharpness, it's not the length of the bar that determines how much damage you do, as was indicated by the video. It's actually the color of the bar. That bar cycles through color based on how sharp your weapon is, and the length of the meter is how far until it goes down to another level of sharpness (or dullness, would probably be more accurate). For example, blue is sharper than green, which is sharper than yellow, which is sharper than orange, and then red (which is completely dull). The sharpness of the weapon not only determines your damage, but also the likelihood that the weapon will bounce off of the target. The more dull the weapon, the less damage it will do and the more likely it will just bounce off. So if the bar is green, for example, you'll always notice the same level of sharpness throughout the whole time the bar is green... you wouldn't notice a difference until the bar is depleted and then becomes a full yellow bar. So in the video, the player wouldn't have noticed a damage difference after sharpening... because while the bar was low, it was still a green level of sharpness (but it's still a good idea to sharpen the blade when an opportunity presents itself... as whetstones are infinite, unlike previous MH games). It's important to understand that the color of the bar is much more important than the level of the bar. For example, a weapon with a full orange bar is in MUCH more dire need of sharpening than a weapon with a green bar that is low... because it still has the remainder of green and all of yellow to go through before it becomes as dull as a weapon with an orange bar.

Tbh the first weapons new players should use is sword and shield you can use health potions and other items without puting your wepon away. I went with hammer and its one of my favs very powerful but slow but not as slow a great sword and the knock outs damage is excellent but ohh boy your going to have a problem with flying creatures

Argo is so random...
What is the point of this video? All of this player learns directly in the game, and by the way, the game has autosave.
This game is too convoluted to not explain all the numbers, stats, and items.
1) The game auto-saves constantly. 2) Yellow does not mean your weapon is dull; red does, 3) Hitting square in combat auto-sheathes your weapon so you can tap it again and drink, 4) X is not used for attack; it's dodge, 5) ALWAYS eat before going out on a hunt, if not at the hub canteen, then do it at the camp. Your video guide is terrible and full of errors.
