An unseasonably deep area of low pressure near to the Northern Ireland was introducing strong, moist south westerly winds across the UK accompanied by a cold pool aloft. This was forecast to generate numerous heavy showers and thunderstorms along with gusty winds. Showers were expected to be very fast moving and so chasing would be impossible, today's challenge was about being in the right place at the right time.
