That’s what José Rizal (the national hero) was talking about in his essay “The Indolence of the Filipinos “ Filipinos are not indolent/lazy. We have siestas (rest or quick nap after lunch) because farmers during the Spanish occupation and even today can’t work under the sun on mid day. Otherwise they’ll die of heat exhaustion.

Yes, and farmers wake up VERY early, earlier than the sun rising to start tending to the crops in their fields. And by the time the Spanish would walk to visit them the farmers would be done with their work and have their hardearned siesta since it’s already way too hot outside

You would see that type of Filipino kid typically in class and they excel in speech subjects. They challenge the status quo and ask many things. Their classmates would get mad because they are the reason for class being extended lol
Yes he is handsome, young fellow with smart ideas and extremely genius. The way he spoke is very captivating and topnotch. Long live Philippines.

This was the time when kids held books and education system was topnotch in the Ph...
Kids before are taught on debate kind of mindset. It means deep research, history wise etc...In short book worm kind of competition in school. But now.. kids are no longer reading the books, Rather always on social media. Instagram, Twitter, FB, online games such as MObile Legends and other live streamers games online... It's totally different nowadays by generation to generation..
I like how you say "kumusta" and "mabuhay" in perfect filipino accent. Very nice!

my grandfather only finished 7th grade but a very eloquent english/tagalog speaker. he's intelligent and smart.but sad to say, most of us children of today finished school halfbaked
Filipinos are the brightest but emotionally fragile😁✌️🇵🇭❤️
Filipino seems very intelligent because of his english and accent. and he is very prepared and knowledgeable of the topic.
The Spanish ruled the Philippines for 300 years. Suppressing the Malay culture, language, but NOT teaching them Spanish. So when the Americans arrived, the Philippine Islands absorbed its first lingua franca, English, with as much enthusiasm as a toddler learning to speak for the first time. Filipinos are among the best english speakers in the world because to be honest, English is their first universal language.
I always watch that over and over, surprisingly a 16 years old like him so smart.

I had an uneasy feeling about the exchange between the British girl and the moderator with regard to the colonization of different countries. It seemed as though they both somewhat agreed that their people had the right to the colonization of people who they deemed inferior in some way.

They use "negro" when you refer to blacks. They use "colored" when you refer to all race in general but whites (example: all of blacks, asians, native americans hispanics, etc). Hearing Filipino boy's sentences, i dont think he was referring to blacks in his sentences but rather, all races but whites. Hence i dont think he was trying to be politically correct. Hes just saying it how it is. Which is admirable actually, i dont gain a respect people just for being politically correct.
