What is the point of making us listen to the sound test. BEcause if you laptop has crappy speakers both will sound equally good or bad what ever you would like to think of it as. However I like your videos a lot.

I'm thinking of buying an iPad mostly for gaming. I have two in mind which fit in my budget. 1. iPad mini 5,wifi plus cellular 64gb for $509 2.iPad pro 10.5" 2017 Wi-Fi plus cellular for $580.(CERTIFIED REFURBISHED) WHICH IS A BETTER DEAL??????? Is the display cable longer or a more durable design compared to previous versions of the MacBook Pro? Because I know the previous versions had the “stage light” issue with the display, after normal use of opening and closing the display.

Super informative! Do you think it would be worth it to wait until 16inch to upgrade to 10th gen cpu? Since the current cpu is half year old, and 10th gen will bring wifi6 support and maybe longer battery life? So tempted to buy the 16inch. The last Macbook Pro I bought was the 2015 model and I just couldn’t pull the trigger on the later models cause of that horrible keyboard and the annoying throttling issues. Now I think is finally the right time to get one, I wish they would’ve done the same thing on the 13inch and make it 14inch that would’ve been a no brainer for me. Its the one thing that holds me from buying right now, Apple hasn’t been good at all announcing their new MacBooks and I would really hate it if I bough the 16inch and see them release a 14inch a few weeks later

Thank you for these reviews! I'm trying to figure out whether I should get the i7 or i9. I'm a music producer, and definitely going to be getting the 64GB RAM and 2TB of SSD. However I'm a bit scared of getting the i9, as they might heat more then the i7, and in past years seems like the i7 was more reliable. Any tips on this would be very welcomed. Max! Thanks for this series on the new 16 MacBook Pro. It looks pretty good so far. I need new editing setup for 4K video and photo editing. I do pro work with 3 Sony full frames. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new iMac but now I’m wondering if I should grab the new 16 and use it until the iMac gets updated with new graphics and then sell the MacBook 16. I can hook into a 4K monitor with the MacBook. Do you think the current iMac is better than the new MacBook 16 for what I need? Sitting on the fence here.

Any advice on the late 2019 Macbook Pro keyboard? I have 4 failed keys all within the first few months of owning it and it's going to cost over $700 to fix with no guarantee that it will not happen again. I am not seeing this "improvement" with the keys. Any advice?

Just bought a 2019 Apple MacBook Pro 15” at my local pawn shop. Under 10 charge cycles no scratches with original charger and box for $985+tax. Basically brand new. I was shocked. I am in California so, I couldn’t pass it up. Total I paid was $1,120ish with change. Pretty stoked & very pleased with it. Upgraded from a MacBook 12” lol

Considering modern day mixing plug-ins and DAWs, the mics are good enough i reckon.

I also own the same model. I actually feel 15 inch is a very ideal size for the weight, dunno if 16 inch really makes that much of a difference. Nonetheless, the 15 inch model still rocks with its i9!

I’d like to say something about the speakers Even though I don’t have MacBook, but when I was in the store I’ve compared all the MacBooks And my the biggest disappointment was that 15” Pro sounds worse than the 13” 1799$ Pro. Like the second one had more cleaner and better sound quality And now I’m so glad the 16” MacBooks have that speakers! I’m going to buy one for my job 😄

I’m trying to get into video editing (4k60fps) just wanted to record my travels. Is 5300m enough? Or I should get 5500m 8gb.

I would upgrade to the 5500M for future proofing. But I was able to edit (albeit footage off an iPhone) at 4K60fps on my old 2014 MacBook Pro 15” with almost zero lag. I now have the 2019 15” i9 with the RX460 whatever card and it’s blazing fast on Mac OS. If you’re going to buy one, i recommend the i9 model though.

austen smith I knew the 16” was about to come out but needed a computer for college and got a good student discount on the computer. I’ve had the computer for about three months and absolutely love it. Sure I wish I would’ve waited for the new one, but the old one has the same performance (essentially) and I still absolutely love it.

i have a Space Grey MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB 500gb SSD fairly new with very low battery cycle count that I bought for 2100. Would the $2799 be a reasonable upgrade considering the 600 price difference?

in iceland it is so expensive normal macbook pro 16 inch it casting $5000. i decided upgrade it will goes on $8000 full upgrade . is it is not possible pay all in one time . i have to pay for one year so this is could be cast about $9000 it is not easy . i am using for photography and video editing . i bought macbook pro 2013 but git problems with screen stain . i use everything it didn't works so right now i am thinking about macbook pro and imac pro . you are apple user . please give a advice which one is better

Listening to Johnathan Morrison's interview with Phil Shiller, it doesn't seem like a 14" is coming anytime soon. Most people that buy a high spec 13" buy it specifically for the size instead of a much more bang for the buck 15.4" and owning both I can definitely see why. With the 16" the display bezels and forehead did shrink but not by a crazy amount, and thus the whole body had to get larger to fit a 0.6" larger display. It seems that if Apple put a larger display in the same 13" body it most likely would only go up from 13.3" to 13.6" or so (if bezels stay the same as 16"). With the 15.4" you're already using a much larger device overall and that extra size and weight doesn't matter much.

Since the keyboard was a disaster if they want to sell any lower tier MacBook pros they will have to redesign. Nobody is going to buy a 1800 dollar laptop with a broken keyboard apple won't fully take responsibility by redesigning a new keyboard that would fit perfectly into the models with the disaster keyboard.

The Razer advanced has a RTX 2080 in it, you can upgrade the SSD and RAM, has built in HDMI and you won't need to carry around a bag full of dongles. I mean, I own a 2018 MBP and it was fine until I moved more into live motion graphics and content creation ( C4D, blender, Resolume, Touch designer etc. ) Hindsight now nags me that I should have bought a Razer and if AMD starts making chips anywhere near to the 3950x for laptops the MBP will stop being a serious contender for any pro video 'on the go' work to be honest ( I mean, it already has in some respects ) After 2 decades of using Apple products though my next laptop will not be a MBP at this rate. Not a chance. The new studio computer I'm building is already PC based, I looked at the new Mac Pro and was like, no f***ing way I'm I dumping that kind of bank on a studio machine with a basic spec like that.

bill borez Thank you for the reply. And you make a great point because I would upgrade the Advanced model with more ram for sure. I had been holding out on a laptop till this one dropped. It is nice. I used an older Mac book pro for the longest time for on the road and what not. One of the things for me is that I wanted to do some light live-streaming but the MBP couldn’t handle it, but it was an older model so I don’t blame it. I think I may go Razer on this one.

@@ExecutionerO It entirely depends on what you want your laptop to actually do and whether you care which OS you use. If you need heavyweight graphics capabilities and upgradability then the Razor is easily the best choice over a MBP. If you need the sleekness of OSX then it's a MBP. Personally Windows is more than capable nowdays though.

Not for the lower end models, but if you're comparing a 2017 i5 vs 2019 i5, 2019 is now a 6 core and the 3.7Ghz i5 outperforms the best 2017 i7 CPU. Graphics will be similar (2019 slightly faster clocked) but what matters more for those working with video files is that the 2019 chips have hardware decoding for more formats and files, meaning if you ever want to edit or stream 10 bit hevc your CPU will be hammered with the 2017 model and editing will be very slow compared to 2019 which will be a breeze. That price on 2017 is definitely tempting, but if you're going to keep it long term I would absolutely spend the extra on a 2019.

I love Butterfly keyboard and the touchbar of the macbook pro 15. I hate the little touch bar in the 16 macbook pro and I don't stand what are separated the touch id sensor of te touch bar not are aesthetic.

Previous-gen MacBook Pro actually had four speakers, not two.

I actually preferred the new style of arrow keys over the T-style.
