Apple's 2015 MacBook Pro is the model that a lot of creators have held onto after the release of the controversial 2016 MacBook Pro with solely Thunderbolt 3 ports.
In this video, we compare all of the little details between the old 2015 and new 2019 16" MacBook Pros to see how much it's improved.
We also look at performance and other factors to see if it's finally worth upgrading to the 16" from the old 2015 MacBook Pro.

I love the new iPhone SE because THAT IS ALL I NEED and wish there was a MacBook equivalent to compete with the more affordable PC laptops. It might cannabilize some high end MBP market share but would certainly make it up by brining PC users over. It would also kill the 2nd hand MBP market which is very strong.

Really the SD slot is the only port I miss while portable. I have a travel hub but putting the SD in the travel hub and having to "eject" it everytime I unplug the hub is annoying. I used to just leave the SD (actually a TFS in a SD caddy) in all the time even while in the laptop bag. I could quickly swap between my Surface and MacBook with really quickly now I have to remember it is in the hub.

This comparison is great. I have the mid2015 15 inch MacBook Pro as my personal computer and the specked out 16 inch MacBook Pro given to me as a work computer by my current employer. As a software engineer I definitely notice a difference in the CPU power when running multiple dev tools, local servers and development environments on the new machine compared to my old one. Having worked with a newer one, I’ve heavily considered upgrading my personal one to match it but as of right now I don’t have a reason to since my current MacBook is still performing well enough for my hobby projects.

Keeping my 2010 MacBook Pro 15” for yet a few years to come 😊 It’s going very well with self-setup Fusion Drive back in 2012. Minor issues I’m learning to adapt to but it’s a truely personalized machine. Now waiting for the 2nd gen MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon to replace it. VERY NICE REVIEW! Will definitely consider the 16inch 2020 version soon! I still have the ever dependable Mid-2015 15Inch Macbook pro and it does wonders without the need to bring a lot of dongle adapters and cables, sure it does not have the convenience of having that one touch authentication and has a slighter weight but who would have noticed those few grams anyways? :) Got the 2018 15Inch Macbook pro retina w/ touch bar, after 2 years, it already has a lot of issues, left speakers dead/grounded, keyboards frequently stuck, very noisy key strikes even with its thinner profile (especially when you're trying to sneak work during midnight trying not to wake up your wife :) ) and a really noisy fan that will eventually translate to your laptop being slow at times especially when you're working on multiple tasks/windows, the only thing i love about it is the One Touch authentication which is the most convenient thing and the type c charging which is seriously fast, screen is ok but not something worth upgrading if you already own the 2015 one. Just get a better 4k monitor from Dell or LG and it should set you up nicely if color quality really matters to you :)

The 16'' is insane but frankly I expected a little more...but I guess that in a real scenario the gap is much more consistent than what we see here in these benchmark. Or...I hope so :) I have a question... Why did you use Geekbench 4 and not Geekbench 5? Also...it seems that your model 2015 is a little bit...TOO SLOW I repeated the same test you did and I got much higher score on my maxed out 2015, especially for all the GPU performance. Nice comparison, I have the mid 2015 model, I took him new from an Hungarian in 2018 for 1400 euro ..recently I have upgraded the ssd from 250 to 1 tb with only 140 euro an an adaptor witch cost 10 euro : all is working fine .. I don t have to use heavy programs but instead I use a lot all the ports that are so useful without any dongle ..I can't upgrade my magsafe . The new Mac have 0 upgradable parts and this means that you have to support the extra cost added on real time when you buy it ,extra cost that are out of hardware market , eventually you will find after that you even don't need that extra upgrade ...so let me say that soldered ram, soldered hard disk (with the problem of data rescue in case of broken logic board as they are crypted with the t2 chip) is no good things ... sorry for my English

I hated the poor battery life of the 2015, the rubber that goes around the screen eventually wears out and starts to dirty the computer, the keys fade very quickly and the cpu heats up very easily. Also the sound is very poor compared to others on the market, so I will upgrade to the 2019 hoping to fix these problems.

It still feels like butterfly switch but with slight more key travel. It probably fixed the key failing problem but the typing experience is still much better on the good old 2015, especially for long term typing.
