4:30 : CORRECTION The "Son" surname comes to Goku's grandfather who saw him as a baby and adopted him. The grandfather's name is Son Gohan. So goku made his first son name Gohan to honor his grandpa( and the fact that Gohan was happy when Goku mentioning foods when they coming up on what will be Gohan's name will be)

The Son in Gohan's name comes from Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong is written as 孙悟空 in Chinese and it's pronounced Son Goku in Japanese. Toriyama wanted to name the main character Son Goku so he ended up making Gohan's last name Son too.

Goku did teach his kids some values. Never give up, for example. The cell last fight with Gohan is a perfect example...yes, Goku did messed it all up with the senzu bean, but he was there for Gohan and when Gohan was giving up, it was Goku that spoke to him and said he was the stronger and he could do it. Seriously...watch it before you speak it

@@abswithadot Yeah, damn it. Toriyama completely rekt Gohan's character. He made him overpowered from child and than he became an adult and than came Super. He was still pretty close to Goku in terms of power during Majin buu and kid buu saga, now even with all that shitty training with piccolo and fight with Goku, he pretty much was just a mob in universe saving arc and seemed to be even more weaker than he was in dragon ball z. Even Freiza and 17 were treated better.

Goku has trained with his children. He gave them all the Kamehameha wave, so I think that counts enough. Vegeta was there but seriously not there. Remember in the Majin Buu Saga he admitted to not hugging Trunks even once. I personally think that’s worse. Lol! At least Goku has someone he can count on to train his children when he can’t.

I stated this under another video, but Kakarot makes it a point to address the tail issue, in which Gohan asks Vegeta why his tail hasn't grown back, Vegeta informs him that once a Saiyan becomes stronger than a Great Ape, they no longer grow back their tail as it isn't needed. I think Super also reinforces this idea as Pan learns to fly at a very young age.

I'd like to add, that by the end of the cell Saga, I recall reading that the intent was to pass the torch to Gohan, but the response was so awful, they decided to bring back Goku. I honestly feel like having Gohan as the main focus (although he kind of is in the Majin Buu arc later on) would have been intresting. This ends up coming up later in Super, when Gohan basically gives up trying to follow in his Father's footsteps and foregoes the whole concept of Super Saiyan entirely. Goku even makes a commet later actually stating that while it surprises him, he's glad Gohan has found his own way.

Till this day i'm kinda sad what they did to gohan. i think he had so much more potential.

i think even tho akira forgot on purpose, i think it's still applicable to the 3rd generation saiyans to don't have tails on them cause they're is only 25% of saiyan blood running through their veins
