i really love the modular mixer of cubase, what i do is to keep my projects organised, besides color coding and using the visability agents, i have all my tracks within folders, for example all drum channels are in a folder called drums, all guitars in a folder called guitar. etc.. in the visiability view on the left side, you can easily and swiftly use the folders to just view all the channels that are within this folder, i find this very convenient too

Thank you SO MUCH for this! I've been composing for years, slowly started recording on Cubase (still find it challenging with accidental button presses or setting-changes having unexpected consequences and i usually don't know what I did!). Now for the first time, I'm recording a demo for our two-person band and i am starting to learn the basics of mixing. This was useful and understandable to a total mixing noob. I LOVE that you zoom and and show where you click exactly. Finally, video tutorials that don't rush through without showing what you are doing! And any programme related terminology was supported by showing what it is called in Cubase. A lot of tutorials just throw around terminology without really telling you what they are talking about. Thank you thank you thank you! 😃

I too appreciate that he spent the time showing zoom inserts of where exactly he clicked. It would have taken him some time to edit those into his videos too. Much appreciated and very classy. So many times (with other people’s videos) I have to shuffle and try to pause in the exact moment just to see where exactly they clicked. He truly is a production master, audio and video.

Thanks for the video, Dom! Great as always. I'd add a couple of tricks that are not very obvius but very useful: - Holding the left mouse button "e" button from the fader section opens the VST Instrument from that channel, if there is one. - Holding ALT while clicking on the bypass button of an insert disables it completely as it was not loaded, preventing it from using any CPU or adding latency.

Great video (as always) but the best feature in my opinion would be the Channel Visibility Configurations. Especially in combination with a hardware fader controller. I have an Icon Qcon ProX + 1 extender (so 16 channel faders total) so I have direct acces to the 8 configurations. I set up 1 for Drums, 1 for Guitars, 1 for Vocals, 1 for Synths etc. So I can easily go from Synths to Drums at the push of a button, without having to be banking through maybe over a hundred channels.....

Cubase can sample fine from KZread if your audio interface supports it. It's not the DAW that can sample, it's the audio interface. It needs to have a function called Loopback ;)

@@DomSigalas again it is cubase because u have to buy another piece of equipment to even perform a simple task such as that you can't even hear the audio when cubase is on. You turn on studio one and youtube no problem ableton live no problem.

@@uptownfragrance6148 it's not Cubase. I have all of these pieces of software on my computer- they all work the same way. If you can't hear the audio when you have Cubase on there must be something on your settings. I have no such issues on Mac or PC even when I use the built-in audio interface. Something is wrong from what you describe- there is zero difference between Cubase and Ableton/SO when it comes to such things. I am sure you can find the answer to your issue if you post about it on the Steinberg forums :)

@@uptownfragrance6148 Can you please give me some more info? What do you mean "it works"? Do you have an audio interface or not? What audio device do you use in Ableton Live? What's your input on the channel you're recording? What driver does Ableton use? The more info you provide, the more likely it is for someone to help out, including myself ;)
