Derrick Lewis’s “I’m not in the mood to be choked” defence

Just stand up :^)
Mokaev’s ability to withstand that kneebar was pretty extraordinary. Must’ve been incredibly painful, fair play to him for not tapping.

Maybe not so smart in the long run. The line between "he's a warrior" and "wow, that was kinda dumb" is razor-thin in MMA.

@@stabyourcat Fair point - but since he was winning the fight, his first on the main card (I think), in front of a UK crowd, it’s understandable he’d want to roll the dice and tough it out
The GSP one always boggled my mind....how Hardy didnt devastate his shoulders and elbows was nuts
The heel hook submission survival from Tony was so much more inpressive than the armbar survival in my opinion. Dariush said after it that he heard Tony's knee pop, and he just couldnt accept that anyone could survive that submission. Tony writhing in pain but refusing to tap shows the sheer determination that man has to never give up. Both submissions would have submitted 99.9% of people on this planet, just not El Cucuy. We'll never see another fighter quite like him.

The fight with nate ended in a guillotine not a joint lock. This is the same reason you can only finish a gracie with chokes, cuz they aint tapping

The arm bar was more brutal to me and Charles doesn't look away from that arm while walking to the corner in disbelief. Agreed that both are gnarly display of toughness
Agree with the top spot. All the various elements make this number one: The duration he was in the sub for, how his various attempts to escape only made for even more painful and awkward positions for his arm (because of Corys escape attempts, Alcantara was able to crank that arm from literally every possible angle to no avail), and finally what happened AFTER ma boi escaped; that of course being the beat down-to-finishing-sequence, followed by him standing up, arms wide, covered in blood, shit eating grin plastered on face. All so damn good.

Cory's fight against Lineker was crazy. Lineker had Corey in a guillotine at the end of the fight and Corey didn't tap. Blood exploded from his nose just as the fight ended. His head almost fucking popped!
Haven’t watched this yet but Tony Ferguson should have an appearance or two on this 🔥
God that armbar that Charles Oliveira had Tony locked in was fuckin wild, Tony’s mental toughness is honorable
The sandhagen one is the first that comes to mind. By far the wildest combination of the way it bent and how quickly cory finished him after
honourable mention to jamal hill for continuing to punch Craig despite having spaghetti arm
Tim Sylvia kinda survived his arm break against Frank Mir. He wanted to keep fighting.

Once Again It's MMA Right On Point 💯
One of the best submission survival I can remember was Nobuhiro Obiya vs Milton Vieria from a Deep MMA event in Japan. Vieria was BTT BJJ teacher and showed the Noguira brothers the anaconda choke. The entire fight from start to end is Obiya escaping from the most insane chokes and arm locks!
I KNEW IT!! I had that Sandhagen one on No.1 as well 😃😃 That survival and escape was inhuman!!!
14:40 “ realized pain is only in your mind not in your arm “ that is an underrated and classic line 😂
Royce Gracie said on the Ultimate 30 documentary that the UFC just made that Matt Hughes could have broken his arm at any point, and that he just let go because he didnt want to break the arm. Like Hughes just let go of it.
I remember watching the GSP vs Hardy fight. As Dan Hardy fan, I figured he would tap... massive respect to ALL of the fighters on this list. Great choice of fights as well, @MMAONPOINT
Treating us to 15 rather than 10 cheers gents
Yeah, so hard to watch thousands of submission attempts. So hard to watch. This guy... Great video! 😁
Jamahal Hill vs Paul Craig is #1 in my book. I know he was getting TKOd in the process but for his arm to be dislocated and dangling and him still not tapping is wild.

He was also fine afterwards, he was pissed he lost 😂
These one-liners are hilarious! Great video
Christian Jungwirth survived also a really impressive submission.. would have been definitley a honorable mention here
this is such a cool concept! But could you make a video about future goats and or double division champions?
Jon made him feel what he almost after he almost got his elbow split in to smithereens, that kamura was nasty
I'm excited for this video.
Nice to see Tyson Griffin vs Edgar on this list. Fucking banger of a fight for Edgar's debut, and that final minute was insane
@Yorikkk

agree... Edgar just said ""NOPE, not losing today"
Gantumur bayanduuren is worth a mention, be had a jiujitsu match with mikey musumeci which basically consisted of 10 minutes of mikey ripping all the ligaments in his knees to crumbled up biscuits but he still never tapped

While that guy is tough as nails, he is honestly the very definition of foolish, and a prime example of why you SHOULD tap. He wound up with a torn meniscus, torn MCL and ACL, and a broken ankle. The surgeon literally said his leg looked like it had gone through a terrible motorcycle accident. His leg will NEVER be the same, and he will suffer from pain for the rest of his life I'm sure. Had he put his ego aside and tapped, he'd have walked away to fight another day. That was one of the most foolish things I've ever seen, and was disgusting to watch.
My instant thought was to sandhagen was worried he wasn't going to be featured but this was just insane so glad it was #1
Great topic!
Lmao I popped for the blade reference! I makes no sense but I love it! 😂
First that comes to my mind is Tony Ferguson not tapping to Charles olvierias arm bar
Love it that you included ZDF Besseresser, the guy's a national treasure here in germany
When are you guys going to interview Tom Aspinall?
sakuraba Vs galesic = submission of the century in Dream. Galesic taps but only after Sakuraba broke his ankle.
This list confirms what I've thought for a long time, fighters need to start doing yoga! I went to an MMA class for a while so I can tell you that if your muscles are properly stretched arm bars often don't work and omoplatas feel kinda nice
Loved the Sum 41 reference 👌
Great video. 👌
0:32 That is a dreadful Aoki Achilles lock. Looks like you are trying to break his shin in half. You kneed the hard part of your wrist where the Achilles meets the heel.
Awesome video
Mma on point is so on point that everytime i sit down to eat with youtube, it’s mma on point right on point
Dolidze vs Hermansson? Utterly brutal😮
that leg in the thumbnail is wildddd 😂
Lopes vs evloev this year was pretty wild too
When sandhagen got out of that armbar and eventually got the tko, I knew he was gonna be around for a while.
"....a submission tighter than last seasons TUF budget." That's nasty line from Mr. SkyrimNPC 😂 guys growing on me lol
14:25 Tighter than the shows budget 😂
1:10 that is Roberto breathing
A cool vid idea would be submissions that came from no where
Rashid magomedovs escape from Tony Martin's armbar was impressive too
Mokaev is gonna cut his career short trying to be the tough guy refusing to tap to submissions every fight
I'm here for that armbar that GSP had on Hardy.
Hughes-trigg 2. Haven't even watched the video yet 😕
theres a lot from movsar evloev as well
sonnen surviving a triangle armbar to win the middleweight goal against anderson silva was the GREATEST submission survival of all time
Let's not forget that Mokaev did in fact tap to the kneebar.
Joseph Benavides vs Deiveson Figueiredo 2? Nasty RNCs
Some fighters are doing their best to escape a submission and tap at the very last second, some fighters like mokaev and Tony Ferguson just say “fuck it, break my arm, rip out my knee, I’ll still beat you up”
“I’ll develop an opioid addiction rather than tap.”
3:42 normal Mokaev fight😂😂 may Allah bless this guy
Dan Hardy was outclassed in several fights, but I loved his fighting style and his grit.
John Fitch was like unsubmittable until he got older and almost got killed by Mazagatti.
Ben Henderson is the King of escaping deep submissions.
Khabib trying to impregnate fighters in to submission is the craziest subs I have seen. 😂
Tight
14:34 Human Croissant LOL
12:26 lmao I see him all the time and never knew he was THAT Dan Hardy. Idk why my mind never drew the connection. 😂

Haven't watched yet but Dan Hardy vs GSP comes to mind first.
Honorable mention: Moraes vs Eustaquio 3 at OneFC
Surprised Dustin vs Khabib wasn’t on here, even Khabib talked about how tight it was
I waited the whole video for Stamp surviving a twister from Angela Lee
Didn't know that old Italian seller was an international sensation
Some of those really make me sick to my stomach to see again. Good lord.
After seeing these videos, I wonder if the referee should be empowered to stop such fights , before one taps , in order to prevent further damage to the fighters . I know it's controversial, but don't see a point where someone has legitimately fought out of a move that's locked in so well.
7:35 am i the only one seeing this? Vitor and bisping sitting right next to eatch others, and bisping is even listening to what vitor is saying
@4:28 Kikuto looks EXACTLY like an Asian Bayliun and i can't get it out of my head.
7:19 “we saw bones in real trouble” Yes, his bones were probably in real trouble
Competitive drive. I do always be tryin to ice skate up a hill lol

Sum 41 reference? Cool.
That americana on Lewis is not even close to being finished. His elbow is up by his head, it needs to be down by his ribs to actually be dangerous to the shoulder. I'm completly inflexible but I can easily place my arm in that position. Lewis was never in danger of being submitted.
Before even starting the video I know Tony Ferguson gonna be here twice
Moraes unsuccessful submission attempt on eustaquio is also unreal.
brendan allen calf slicer
Noah makes me bleed my own blood
Anyone else wondering what happened to caposa’s corner?
Why tap, why tap. Break bone ☠️☠️

Haven't watched the video yet. I got a sneaking suspicion that the Oliveira/Ferguson armbar is in there.
I think Volk vs Ortega should be ranked higher, because Volk talked about how close he was to blacking out while in that guillotine
More submission attempts than 50 shades of grey 💀
Nasty lookin Americana meme deserves a raise
Is Hughes vs Newton a technical disqualification? He didn't survive it in any way but officially haha, but he technically did.
Plenty of people have talked shit about Carla Esparza and her fights, but she has repeatedly proven herself to be very tough. She's not the best of her division, but Cookie Monster has always proven herself to be pretty badass.
Should really say "submission attempts"
Don’t even need to watch it Tony Ferguson vs Charlie olives is the nastiest submission I have ever seen and he didn’t even tap.
