The good thing with Lego investing is that you dont really lose your money even if your investment doesnt double in price. It's very unlikely for them to drop on price.

3:24 I’ve recently bought one of these from my neighbourhoods garage sale for $80 just because I thought it was cool and a fun lego set to have. Immediately I thought that this set looked old and might be valued, then I thought of doing some research about it and came up to this video. All I gotta say is I’m happy and I’ll be keeping this set for the next years and possibly see it’s value go up even more.

Anything from the 'winter Village' has nearly tripled in price the past 2 years. Also; the 'speed champions' changed from modular to 8 studs width - many ppl will want the older modulars for their MoC cities.

The Speed Champions sets are something I keep a close eye on, and they are a massive toss up. The early and first wave sets are insanely high priced, due to demand, whereas some of the 2019 6-wide sets are very low value, due to still being available in some stores, and due to the mass production. I found it funny, as the Ferrari T8 Turbo that he put in this video will sadly be much lower than some others, such as the Ford GT/Bronco, and the Lamborghini’s from 2020.

I believe the Flower Boquet and the Bonsai Tree will be worth a ton of money in the future. Very cheap and accessible so I'm going to make room in my budget to pick up dupes of those sets

I didn't have Legos growing up, so as of last week, the Lego Roller Coaster set is my very first purchase! I have no plans of ever selling mine. This one was just too good to pass up.

The Speed Champions cars have done consistently well. The larger sets are hit/miss but the £12.99 (UK price) cars usually double at the least after a year or so beyond retirement. The original ones from 2015 like the McLaren and LaFerrari were selling for £40-50. Even the Porsche 919 Hybrid was selling for over £30 last year. The Blue Ford Mustang was hitting £40. Not sure if you get sales or discounts in the US but over here these sets typically go on clearance prices near the end of their run.. I normally wait for 30-50% discounts to buy them.

I have the overload dragon , didn’t think it would double in price cus of the Lloyd we got, it’s used in almost every set now but the overload is a must have, the details on his print n the helmets shape is identical to the show, i just got the adidas superstar set two to three days ago n I’m lucky I took one of the last ones off the shelf, s/o the lego store in south coast plaza Costa Mesa ca

I think many of the sets you mentioned will do well, but some of these probably aren't going to retire within the next year (Ninjago Gardens for example). So when your title says "soon DOUBLE", some of these will be a LOT sooner than others.

I'm no expert, but I would almost bet money on the Seinfeld set and the Haunted House set to appreciate very highly. The Seinfeld set because it is licensed property that has a massive following. At the time of this comment in Australia, it's sold out and unavailable, so there is obviously a high demand for it. When it is retired, no doubt it's value will shoot up. The Haunted House is a Creator Expert build which, as you mentioned, have a high tendency to largely increase in value once they have been retired. The fact it has working parts, the throwbacks to older sets, and the design of the organ would suggest a large appreciation in value to me

Definitely the Ghostbuster's Ecto 1 will go up in price, same for the Nintendo set, and definitely Ninjago City gardens, if the Movie City sets are anything to go off of. Great selection and well researched.

I had so many mixels back in the day sometimes I still find parts from there sets

I have the Razor chrest, Vaders Castle, but the MOs Isley Cantina? Wouldnt that be going up as well? I think so. Also I would love to get a sealed vversion for each set t ohave, but I do not have the money for it, So I have to enjoy the build up set. IT is nice, but the quallity gets worse over the years, dust and miss-coloring for examples.

I have bought a Carousel on the secondary market and it did cost me about £400. Would have loved a Ferris Wheel too but lack of display space torpedoed that idea If I did have space for another Modular, I would choose Parisian Restaurant

A better way of looking at actual resale value is to see which sets have actually sold already and for what price-that’s the best way to see on eBay the actual value that sets have

Hey Spitbrix - love your assessment on these sets, but do you have any extra information on why the Hagrids hut set will increase? as I would tend to disagree with this one. Although the set is more detailed than previous editions, I feel that there is a bit of market saturation as Lego has released a Hagrid's hut in nearly every wave of the theme. I think it would be better to go for sets like The Burrow, Chamber of Secrets, Diagon Alley or Graveyard Duel where there was only one other version released (which became rare) or contains rarer characters/components. Note I say this having sold off all my Lego HP collection last year (nearly every set dating back to the start of the theme ~2001) and these were the sets people bought at the highest price (even second hand/not BNIB)

I’m pretty sold on the Razor Crest, with the show being such a success and the possibility of that ship never being remade, I’m going to acquire about 10x of the set and sit on 5 for 2 years and the other 5 for 6 years.

Did he forget the Crocodile Locomotive? Lego trains are known to have stupidly expensive aftermarket prices.

Great vid, I'm going to buy a couple of the cheaper sets and see how I do! I've noticed that the Darth Vader castle here in the UK is currently going for around £290 on the Amazon used marketplace which I think is a fair bit higher than the original RRP so that was a good shout! My brother in law has recently bought the 1989 batmobile set as an investment so hoping that does well in the future! 👍

Hmm... would probably be the 2015 Utapu Troopers Battle Pack. Honorable mentions are: Duel On Mustafar (2020), Imperial Troopers Battle Pack (2017/18 I think), and Duel On Mandolore (2021). Every single one of them because of the minifigs. And yes in case you were wondering, I’m a massive Lego Star Wars Fan and a gigantic Star Wars nerd.

When I was little I had a Boba Fett lego set that isent sold anymore but cuz I was little I decided to take it apart now aregret it but I do have the full madalorian set so I’m happy

Hmmm, I don't think that the Ship in a bottle will grow much because it has been rereleased. And looking at amazon prices is not always correct. Speed champions is on of the best themes to invest in. For example: the Bugatti Chiron (SC) retailed for c.a. 20$ now it's worth 80$.

Man you get to have all this Lego and all I want are a couple Ninjago and Star wars figures

I have lots of mixels and I even have king nixel and all the constructor mixels but if there were some I would buy if I had the money, I would buy first Ninjago City Gardens of course. Second, the Razor crest and finally, the overlord dragon.

I have City Gardens but those first two Ninjago buildings I sat and stared at them while they were available retail and just wasn't quite into them enough to pull the trigger and of course today I'm totally regretting that decision

It is never that easy to know in advance what sets go up in value. The sets that go up are those that are NOT obvious - i assume that the Ninjago set will stay under 350 for a long while, just because so many people buy it for speculation. Also we don't always know how long the sets are available - so many people bought that VW camper for profit back in 2011/12 and then it stayed in production until 2020. Other sets were expected to have longer runs like the Mickey Brickheads and were discontinued after what felt like minutes.

I hear you…but with the ninjago city gardens…I’m not sure. Think about the original. When that came out, plenty of people who didn’t love ninajgo were saying it was one of the best sets ever rifgt? Plenty of people got it who didn’t love ninajgo, which would make you think that it DEF sold well and wouldn’t lead to a lot of people who wanted it missing out right? Nope! Clearly it’s such an amazing set that plenty of people ended up wanting to have it who didn’t. Then the seocnd one, that didn’t sell well at all reallt, BUT when they released the 3rd one? Everyone wanted the second !! And everyone wanted the first as well! Lego has made it seem that they have no plans NoT to continue making additions, so I think that means that more and more completionists are going to end up trying to collect all of them. But idk. I know that a lot of people have seen how well the first two did and are now buying up the gardens to try and stash it and cash in once it retires. So we will see. But just think about how many adults will become Lego fans in 4 years who aren’t now. More and more adults come over every year. And the gardens is a set that is so good that you don’t have to be a fan of any specific theme to want it, if you are a Lego fan you are going to want that ESPECIALLY if you want to build a city one day. PLUS you have kids and teens joining ninajgo every day every year who are going to want to get it. I guess I just don’t see any of the extensions of ninajgo city not being valuable once retired, just like the regular modulars. Lego is happy to continue making sets that do well. I think we might end up seeing at least 5 ninajgo city additions. Why not right? It’s basically just the modular building collection but done with better figures and an Asian aesthetic

I don't really buy LEGO to potentially make a profit on them but it's crazy how these things inflate so much. I'm screwing over the inflation of the UCS millennium falcon I want that set so much but I know I'm going to have to pay an extortion amount of money but I would be most prized LEGO collection piece. the 10th anniversary set is good but I'm waiting for the additional set since it's cheaper and probably smaller.

The moment he said "speed champions fall below retail" I knew this guy knows nothing about lego investing. Speed champions is likely the top appreciating theme in Lego in the past 6 years since the inception of speed champions. Look up the stats..speed champs performs best in terms on percentage gains!

@@waigin ikr, every single retired speed champions set is above retail on the secondary market. And this is after they are usually on sale.

If you use ebay sold listings as your price guide, be aware that the sellers are losing 10-15% to fees. The prices are also not necessarily accurate, because the seller can make an offer to people watching the listing and sell it for a lower price. In that case the original listing price still shows as the "sold for" price

How well do you think the UCS A-Wing will perform? Considering bying it (to build it) but I might change my mind if I can hear how well it may perform. It will retire very soon, and so it will take less time.

@@SpitBrix Because it's one of the cheaper UCS star wars sets I assume. Easier to invest, less likely to lose money with. It's also not the most mainstream set, much like the B-wing or Tie Advanced, so they don't remake them every few years.

That lego roller coaster is so cool. I saw it on clearance the other day at my local lego store for 20% off. And they still had 5 left. Would've picked it up but I didn't have enough money.

Not too many Technic sets in here. I have the 41999 and that goes for $800 (original $180). Sadly, I built it, so mine is not that valuable anymore. Also, the 42056 Porsche has really sky rocketed, selling for $400-500. I'm hoping the 42083 will do the same as I have one sealed (and one built).

The millennium falcon is not the largest lego set at the time of this video came out. The colosseum has 1495 more pieces and was released 8-9 months before this video was posted.

SpitBrix do you know the original price of the lego set 7498 was? It’s a legion set that I have but I got it a long time ago and now the price is $350

The older Harry Potter sets did not do well and if anything dipped in value so I’m not sure these will go the other way. Modular buildings are as close to a sure thing as you’ll get, all of the previous retired modulars are now selling for well above RRP.
