one of my best memories of my childhood was watching a family of otters in the water of a canal in florida when I was 8-9 years old... I remember just watching them playing and having fun and thinking... These guys are truly free. I could never own one but I will always appreciate them till I die.

Just because you can keep some of these as pets does not mean you should. Most people can’t keep up with the demands of the animals diets and lifestyle. Then the animal dies or is gotten rid of. This happens a lot with sugar gliders and chinchillas.

@@Glory_inthe_3rd77, I don’t know what you’re talking about. My main point is that a lot of people get these animals and don’t know what they’re getting into and abandon them or the animals die because they don’t know how to care for them. It’s statically a fact. I’ve been a wildlife rehabber for over 40 years and give monthly to animal causes in my area and around the globe. I can back any cause I like with my hard earned money. If it’s your opinion that everyone should spend on other people first then that’s fine, but that’s not my opinion. You do you. If I were you, I would ask more questions about a person before judging them. I’m an introvert. I prefer animals over most people besides my close family. I wouldn’t make statements like the one I did if I couldn’t back it up with facts. And it’s true that my opinion only matters to some and the people that care about it. If you aren’t interested in the topic you wouldn’t be here. 😁 You sound like you might feel a bit upset about owning a pet that is being spoken about in the video? Just guessing since you got so upset by my statement.

Diane-i agree. Yes! Purchasing exotic wild animals just encourages the Poachers who literally rip these innocent babies right out if their mother"s arms or nest.I noticed many if these little Angels are Brand New! They Should be with their Mothers. Ugh!! I dont think that people who Love to "Own" Exotic animals do their Research first. Like Where did come from, how was the climate,+the diet? How many of their brothers+sisters survived the horrible cruel trip here? Many of these vulnerable babies are crammed into a small wire cage that hurts. Not enough room to move or breathe. And then covered with heavy clothes to hide in them from view. It's a terrible crime to keep stealing babies away from the Mothers. Ohhhhh😲breeders are busy with this group of Animals?😳😶😠😠Good Heavens! The natural order of the world is all out of balance!. I blame Greedy Humans for this.

THIS video has kept me UP since i saw it.The topic is Extremely upsetting! Unfortunately i've seen videos of the Hideous,Most Diabolical Evil that Hell would dream up! The Torture that these babies would undergo if they'd gone to the wet market. The Practices that go on there are Unspeakably Barbaric! 😠🤬 I didnt think i could face it-but many Animal petitions (I sign,+ call Gov. officials about,)Play the video+horrific pictures that accompany the Petition before i can Sign.I cant stomach these up close+personal anymore.I get nasty physical reactions to Violence in any form! The Following Steps are standard procedure for The Wet Market.1)Upon Arrival-the animals purchased for Meat will be squished into small, filthy cages made of metal similar to Puppy Mill cages. When releiving bodily functions, the urine+feces fall on the animals in the cage below. They dont get food/water.💔 2).Removed from Cage, hung by the Neck for severe beatings.😩😫😖😵🙀 "the Emotion of Fear Tenderizes the Meat".) 👿 3)Their throat is severly cut for skinning.Their Fur/Skin is Apparently people cant Get Enough Fur on their Clothes, Slippers, Boots,Gloves,Jackets, Hats, Scarves, Purses, Even Key Rings! Ugh!💔 People dont realize Alot of the Beautifull Furry Items they're Proudly wearing are somebody's Dog or Car! Most popular Are White fur animals! White bunnys, cats+dogs! I feel great sadness for any white Labradors in any Asian country!💔Next for popularity are the pure black labs, cats,+bunnies. Then Orange/Butterscotch animals...🤬After skinning (the slice is deep across the throat.)!💔Fur +skin is violently ripped off down to feet.💔☠️🙀😿! 4) Next step is being dowsed, almost drowned in gasoline.Set on fire by a Blow Torch! Literally cooked alive by Blow Torches, while they hang.😭😭💔 Unspeakably Brutal, eh? 5)Last is Butchering the Animal, whether still alive at that point,or not.Chop up pieces for the Public to buy. 😲😲😲😫😩😣😖🤮🤮🤮🤮.I didnt want to know the details of the agonizing process these precious Sentient Beings will undergo when they're "Sold for Meat".Belonging to Animal Rights Groups, we're supposed to be aware of the gory endings when we Sign + SpeakUp for Animals. Its more than enough to read the story first. But its impossible to just skip past the photos to Sign! I understand the videos are Proof of the abuse. But its too upsetting to witness.I do suffer with physical reactions from chest pain, lightheadedness to fainting. In many countries, Animals have No Rights.Neither do Women or Children.I dont understand this type of thinking.I wish more people could speakup, without fear of retaliation.

@@markfurney3670 The WORST problem is that they don't stay "domesticated." As anyone who's adopted a fawn. People get killed by animals not bred for domestication, the rest don't do well as pets. Baby mammals are always "cute" by our standards; big eyes, oversized heads, and they rather cling to the one who's feeding them. Later instincts kick in and don't really enjoy captivity. For every anecdotal story about them being great grown up, there's multiple ones where people get hurt by them.

Otters should not be kept as pets. They need 24 access to a decent amount of water to swim in whenever they want. A bathtub is not enough. Some pet otters are captured from the wild as cubs - the parents are killed - clubbed to death - so the pups can be taken. Most of the rest are bred in horrible conditions, the parents being kept in cages and used as breeding machines. Otters are wild animals and should be left alone in the wild, no matter how adorable they are.

I rescued a fenic Fox because the mother didn't want to feed her. I think because she was the runt of the litter. I just could stand watching her die because of natural selection so I got her and took her too a vet they kept her for a week and gave her back to me because they said I could take care of her or they would have to euthanize the animal so I did the right thing and took her home and I still have her she's a welcome part of our family. Every animal her has a different story but most ate in need of human intervention. I talked too a zoo keeper where a female leopard killed both of her cubs. And on the second time around the zoo was not going to let this happen and had intervene and take the cubs away from the mother or she would have destroyed them. If you have the space and unlimited resources, and knowledge of the you can take care of these animals.

Even hermit crabs should really be left in the wild. Did you know that literally ALL hermit crabs ever kept as pets were stolen from their beach habitats? There is only one person that has successfully bred them in captivity, which is nice, but a lot of people don't realize that these animals have been taken from their homes. Some of these are NOT allowed as pets and at least one is a protected species. So, do not trust this video...do your own checking if you think one of these "exotic" animals should be brought into your home. But ask yourself, if it is truly fair to the animal.

Appalling that this channel would encourage the keeping of exotic animals as pets - the exotic pet trade is a major factor in the extinction of species. Furthermore, the vast majority of amateurs have no idea how to maintain these animals in a healthy situation

Koloa’s are not permitted to be kept as pets here in Australia and as for out sugar gliders, I don’t know of any Aussie who would wish to have them as a pet. That is sad. We prefer them to live in their natural habitat as it should be.

Yes, exactly. Sugar Gliders are far too fragile for most people to take care of anyway. Would be doing more harm than good.

First time that I've hit the dislike. None of the animals you portrayed are ours for the taking as pets. Seeing some of them in cages is disgusting. Plant more trees to create safe resorts, not in your hands and homes. While the babies of every species are endearing, those who take them from their mothers and natural habitats are likely not professional caregivers. This video is encouraging very harmful information at the cost to animals. Shame on you!

Teacup or any other severely inbred dog is prone to severe medical issues. And seahorse harvesting is having an impact on their numbers in the wild. They don't breed well in captivity either.

I agree that a lot of dog breeds are super messed up, but I think that owning any dog is better than supporting these exotic pets. However, in a perfect world I think that all dogs would be mixed breeds/mutts, as they're still so cute and live even happier lives. Adopt don't shop.

@@steveheimlerfanpage I *DO* agree with that. If you find a rather inbred breed in a rescue situation, don't hesitate if that's what you're looking for. And in fact always check adoption sites if you feel you want a pet. I'm also hating on puppy and kitten mills.
