Mate, the difference with you is you’re straight forward, down to earth and like most of us, just an ordinary bloke working to provide for his kids. To do that with a job you enjoy is brilliant. You got a KZread mate here 👍🏼

My teachers in primary school up to I graduated from high school or something I don’t know what it’s called in the uk. Told me I couldn’t make any money starring out of a window and that’s exactly what I’m doing now driving minivans and getting paid to do it as well happy days. I hope everyone is doing well and stays healthy. I’m enjoying the videos you’re hilarious and with both feet’s on the shitting planet we call earth and home.

Hi Deady, Great video, with a very clear explanation about the manual 13 Speed box. I drove Class 1s back in the 1980's, so everything was manual!! One thing I would say is, if you are finding that it helps to double-de-clutch when changing certain gears, it would indicate to me that the syncromesh is getting worn out in the box. Since the lorry is a '60 plate', it's now 10 years old, I'm not surprised at that. I drove Volvos when they had 16 speed boxes, a gate of 4 gears with both the range-change and splitter on all gears! It shows how much engines have improved with their power and torque so that they can now manage with 12 main gears plus a crawler gear. I actually drove a Leyland truck that HAD to be double-de-clutched, it had a crash-box, 8 speed range-change only. That was 'fun'!!! Anyway, it's great to see your enthusiasm and joy at your job. Keep it up and all the best during this lockdown time. Jonathan.

Good on ya son, fully fledged trucker now mate, 13 speed manual etc etc. Nobody can argue that, no crunching either. I saw one of the "Road Legends" couldnt use a straight 6 speed box properly the other day 😂😂😂. Kev Tee is the only one of them i rate but hey ho thats another story. Anyway, well done mate, your a natural. Drive safe

Deady 2012 , the confidence comes with experience. Never be afraid to ask no matter how silly the question is. It’s better to ask than cock up, and if it’s any decent driver he/she will gladly give the advice. The reversing will all of a sudden kick in and then you’ll be thinking what the heck did I worry about. Driver told me once that it’s best to get out and check behind you 10 times if needed rather than hit another vehicle once. As for the professionalism from what I’ve seen you have it in bucket loads. Anybody that takes pride in their work and is conscience as you is already there mate. Keep it up mate 👍

Hi Gareth, Its an old fart here at 54 whos followed you from the beginning. I took my Class 2 test on Thursday in Beverley near Hull and sadly failed. I had no minors at all but a serious for lights changing at a busy junction and the lights changed to red and rather than carrying on I stopped leaving me just into pedestrian area. Then two cyclists had to go around the lorry. Everything else went well but a fail never the less. Confidence went, felt I let down my family who were disappointed for me and thought B.....ks Im to old to start this driving home. I sulked the rest of the day but today Friday I have downloaded the test routes and will before the next test on the 13 go and drive the routes to try to familiarise myself as I'm not from around there. I felt a fool and thought I know what to do....I put on a video of you today and you've given me the drive again to go again next week and try again. I aim to go straight to class1 if I pass hopefully. Thanks Gareth for that cheery attitude you have and well done you for getting to where you are. Cheers mate and thank you again...

The thing with the tests mate is there is a portion of luck involved. That has to be understood and taken in. It was an unfortunate mistake that the light turned red.... If a motorist comes speeding at you as you pull on behind a parked car you'll fail... shit like that can't be controlled. Don't be disheartened. Go and do the next test and kill it. If you see a green light in the distance, take your foot off the gas and coast towards it fully ready to stop... If you get to the point of no return, floor it back up to speed and happy days! Good luck mate! Thanks for the comment :)

Mate whenever I drive a 3 over 3 I always set off in 1st. You’re putting a lot of strain on that clutch setting off in 2nd. I don’t know if someone has advised you to do that but personally I wouldn’t. The gear ratio’s are much different to that of a 4over4 so you have to use the box differently. When I drive one I set off in high split 1st then into low split 3rd. Into high range. Then depending on how heavy I am will dictate whether or not I split the high range gears also. Just food for thought pal. Have a play around with it. Congrats on the class 1 pass and welcome to the club.

Hey Deedy, first of all congratulations on getting your class one licence👏 and secondly very well done getting a job on Tippers to start with. I am a driver looking to return to driving after 25 years laying bricks. My joints are crying enough enough. So have had my medical last year. And past with a cleam ticket. I then did my 5 modules over the course of a week, as well as sorting my Drivers card out. So am now all good to go again. I too have a class 1 licence. And would love to get into class one Tippers. For easier than the trailers I had to rope and sheet in howling gales back in the day. I am only over in Blackburn, so if you know of a tipper job going in your area, or if your Boss puts another truck on the road. I am available to start whenever. Class one or two, I don't mind. It's just Tippers would be ideal with my lower back. I have driven 8 wheel Tippers and Artics in the past. Have fun Deedy, you have worked hart to get to where you are now. enjoy, and safe Driving bro... JOHN....

Deady 2012 the beauty of truck driving is that there are so many different jobs out there that there has to be one to suit everyone! It certainly isn’t one size fits all. Some drivers love the long distance continental work whereas others prefer the local distribution work but at the end of the day it comes down to the employer and how they look after their drivers. It also helps to look at the job positively as you do 👍🏼 I’m looking forward to your next instalment mate 😉
