While dining at these establishments in Southern California, Mike Takla most of all learned one thing: sit across a sushi chef with the right conversation, and as a result the whole experience will take a turn for the best. Sushi Traveler is Mike's search for the world's most interesting sushi, and the chefs who rise to the occasion.

This is my favorite place (Irvine location.) Great quality/portion and Fair prices. Premium Chirasi is great, premium thick cuts of sashimi. Their rice is really good too. Their seasoning is on point/complimentary and not excessive-A5 Wagyu, uni pasta, salads
All of that for 130 bucks seems like a good deal.

128 for an omakase isn't bad!!! I'm amazed that places are offering omakase to go. Loving all the fine details and the care the sushi chefs have when placing everything.

Wow, all of that top grade food and preparation for omakase at $128 is such a steal! I will definitely have to check out Ootoro when we find ourselves in LA. Our omakase in Napa, Kenzo, has been offering sushi bentos to go. They change their menus monthly, at $60. If times were normal, dining in, it would $250 for omakase.

The Omakase Bento Box was really amazing and next time I'm in Napa I'll have to stop by Kenzo and try out their Omakase, once dine-in opens back up of course.
Very nice. I have never tried uni. That's on my to do list.

The very first time I tried Uni I honestly didn't like it because it was an acquired taste but I tried it over and over in different sushi bars and now it's my most favorite thing to eat at a sushi bar.

I agree, the price is a little too high but overall the Omakase Bento Box was very delicious.
