1260 Grandsire (pure Triples - taken from The Original) 21/8/22. Hythe. My swan-song from Diocese.

Sunday 21st August 2022 at Hythe Parish Church, this QP of pure Triple-changes, Grandsire Triples [taken from "The Original" - John Holt, 1751] was rung following a Hymns of Praise service, innovation of our new Parish Priest Rev Fr M.D.W. Darkins and prior to Sung Evensong (Congregational). Rung 'open' in thanksgiving for the life of Rev D. W. J. Sampson FRICS, who passed to his rest at a very great age, Monday last: Served his Title here, 1965-70 under Canon E. A. 'Bobs' Newman, Vicar, and retired to Hythe as Hon Assistant Curate (officially 1986-91, but unofficially until Canon N.H. Woods BD, AKC, retired as Vicar of Hythe in 2001). Hythe bells (especially as an octave with the old Tenor) would have been heard by him countless times over long years.
Also swan-song of the Conductor from ringing anywhere in this, Canterbury Diocese again until the Diocese is put into special measures and a truly independent investigation conducted into mutiple unacceptable dealings and behaviours, which have profoundly impacted and continue to impact the psychological welfare of the Conductor. He accounts the Diocese as thuggish, deceitful, dishonest and extremely dangerous in its extreme toxic behaviours. The psychological damage it has done and continues to do to him and others involved will last a lifetime. It is profoundly abusive. This statement herewith is his alone and does not involve directly or regard any of the other ringers in this excellent attempt; a fitting (at least for the foreseeable future) end to over 30 years of ringing, as a VOLUNTEER in the Diocese of Canterbury.
