BEAST!!! Pike's Peak never ceases to amaze in bringing out the gnarliest of machines. Imagine more accommodating weather conditions, he'd be ripping up that mountain.

James is also a super nice guy. I drove him for a few laps around High Plains a few years ago (in an E36), then we switched seats. It's daunting to see how much faster someone else can be in your car. Looking at the data was very interesting: From mid corner to exit, there wasn't that much difference. Braking and corner entry was where things diverged. He consistently braked later and harder, and his transition between braking and turn in was always closer to the traction limit. He also gave me some good advice on shock and bar settings.

They stop Nascar when it rains but 30 metres visibility at Pike's and its let's go !! 😮 Unreal ..amazing car 👌🏼

Nice car, shame about the weather

The P63 still has the concentrated anger it displays in the M6 GT3, just....... _more_ of it. Blessed with a chassis as beautifully balanced as the E36 and an aerokit that looks like the absentee father was the Batmobile, the Bergsteiger is the kind of car that could ONLY happen in hillclimbing or time attack. Oh yeah, and Bimmerworld. I know 'em from IMSA's Sportscar Challenge and the brilliant ST class. What a long way they've come since then.

That's about the most terrifying prospect for a Pike's run outside of full-on snow! More to the focal point, this is exactly what comes to mind when someone mentions Big Power and Pikes Peak in the same sentence. Big Aero, lots of boost, spritely race car and All the noise. I'd love to see what this car could run flat out in better conditions.

@@joe125ful I asked because maybe you are too young or too old to get the references. Gran turismo is a racing game and there are gran turismo decals on the cars and posters on the side of the track. Silent Hill is a horror style game where the character spends much of the game running through misty streets. This video begins with a car covered in gran turismo decals driving though a very misty street. Are you seeing the connection yet?

Must be pain to work so hard and do so much prep work and just traveling to this place you know the weather can switch in a heartbeat. I feel for the drivers who just cannot open up completely simply because the conditions won't allow it.

I thought it was very excessive bumpers....but then the powers it produces are also immense.. anything that can help the aerodynamic is surely acceptable..

To say it was slippery would be a gross understatement. Not ideal conditions, but as you can imagine we have LOTS of rear grip which is never a bad thing when trying to put down that much power on a chilly misty road.

@@gen1c8rs88 Absolutely - this was on a set of our intermediate tires, which are slightly more narrow and taller, due to the weather. Dry weather I believe are 20mm wider and I think we've experimented with even wider, but found the balance was better without maxing out the width. We also have to keep in mind the hairpin turns that is so unique to Pikes unlike any other form of racing where you'd never need that much turning lock to lock.

It's a P63 BMW Motorsport engine. Same that came in the M6 GT3 or M8 GTLM. But worked over from there by Roush Racing and larger turbos/fuel system/etc.

Eh....more like the door handles and roundel. :) We thought about leaving the sagging glovebox, but too much weight.

Why not AWD???It feels slow like using half of power. Car looks ok but slightly dissapointing sound to me. Still love more those 3 wings GT-R ones:):)

No one who knows Motorsports and Pikes Peak thought that. Just thought about the insane weather conditions and how carefult one has to be at the wheel of a 1250Hp RWC Monster in fog/moist/wet/snowy conditions.

While this was obviously a dialed back run due to the weather conditions, I assure you the car makes WELL over 1200hp. And even as slow as it looked we had the highest MPH through picnic grounds on race day and the only person faster was the Wolf prototype that won overall by 1 mph at around 145mph. So...slower than full dry conditions sure, but certainly not slow.

Slow slow slow. Not a clue what the point was of posting it really.

The channel is hillclimb monsters. Even if this run wasn't the fastest the car is still a monster. Also did you not see the fog and the sheer drops? I gather you wouldn't be satisfied with the pace unless he sent it over the edge.
