Isaiah Jones, a freshman at the time of this match, had to have been heavily favored over his younger opponent in this very close match. Just 6 months after this tournament, Isaiah won the U15 National Freestyle Championship! Blake Boyer, only an 8th grader at the time of this match, went on to an apparently undefeated Middle School season and then went 39-8 during his freshman year in high school. So, this was a great job by both of these two young wrestlers. Thanks to Midwest Wrestle, we all get to experience this match as if we would need to back up every time the competitors near the edge of the mat. Just a fabulous job of bringing this sport to the public so magnificently.

Wonder if Blake is Penn State-bound where college wrestling is NOT a minor sport and fans pack the house in State College?

Thank you for all the coverage. Isaiah Jones was an 8th grader here. Last year was his freshman season which he missed due to injury.

@@MidwestWrestle thank you. He got released 2 weeks before our state tournament last year. He had a great run at Fargo double American and won preseason. He’s back and ready to go.
