What are 12 VAWA secrets that other lawyers won’t tell you? In this video I reveal the truth about some of the most controversial VAWA topics, including:
1. Adjusting Immigration Status: Most lawyers say that you need to leave the United States in order to adjust your status. Is that the case when applying for VAWA too?
2. Proving Abuse in Your Marriage: What sort of evidence and proof do you need in order to qualify? And what’s the single more important piece of evidence in your case?
3. Divorce: Most lawyers claim that you must stay married when filing your I-360 application. Do you really need to remain in an abusive relationship in order to have your case approved?
4. The Interview: A lot of immigrants are worried that they will need to remember everything they said in their affidavit during an interview-are those fears justified?
5. Extreme Cruelty: What are emotional and digital abuse, and how do they relate to your case?
6. Final Order of Removal: If you have a final order of removal then there’s nothing you can do to avoid deportation… or is there? I share a story about one of my clients in this exact situation.
7. VAWA for Men: Men can be victims too, but does that mean they qualify for a program called the Violence Against WOMEN Act?
8. Status For Your Children: If you become a legal permanent resident you want your kids to adjust their status too. What will getting approved for VAWA mean for them?
9. Multiple Immigration Cases: What if you have already filed one immigration case but later decide to file for VAWA? Is it too late for you to change your mind?
10. Protecting Your Spouse: What happens to your spouse when you apply? Will USCIS contact them? Will the police get involved? Will it go on a permanent record of some sort?
11. The Permanent Bar: What if you have a permanent bar? That’s permanent, right? Or is it?
12. Bonus Option: What if you don’t qualify for VAWA? Is there some other option you might qualify for that could help you and your family adjust your status?

How bad does the situation have to be? Surely someone can't get approved because their spouse checked their phone once, or told them not to associate with a friend because that person is a drug dealer?

If you have divorced in sept 2020, you had to file for VAWA before sept 2022. It is a delay of 2 years after the divorce. I think it is too late

And he always promise to get in here in Philippines but not, and I think all is a lies. What should I do to fight him that I'm still in Philippines ? We been married 7yrs and he want me to file divorce and he don't want to support enough financial . He is US NAVY RETIRED and his pension monthly 6045$ and he give me only 450$ a month here in Philippines.

Can I girl file bass outside the Us? If so what kind of visa can she then apply for because if she wait for its approval then for green card approval it’ll take years already . This girls husband committed adultrry while married to this girl and his Us based girlfriend then texted the girl (actual wife outside the Us still waiting for approval ) and told her to leave her man and that they have twins together and that she broke her home after which this girls filed for divorce and got it last year

This is why I just waited out the regular process and got jobs far away from ‘home’. The VAWA felt like it was going to be a longer sentence for me.
