I havent ever gotten into harry potter before because my mum said that I wouldnt like it so recently, one of my teachers started reading the books to the class every so often. In the school library, I took the prison of azkaban and started reading that. He read the first book and I liked it so I watched up to about the 5th film and then I got the 1st and 2nd book. For Christmas I got the whole set so I started reading them. Yesterday, I was reading the goblet of fire and I fell asleep. Long story short, my dog ripped up the whole book so now i have to wait for one to come that i got from Amazon.

I love the look on Severus' face when Minerva steps out in front of Harry. He instantly knew he was in trouble. It also had hints of showing he likely didn't want to fight her not only because of her skills as a witch but also due to their years as friends and colleagues. Alan Rickman truly was an amazing actor when he can convey all that in a two second look.

@@rustomkanishka I remember reading a passage in the book when she came charging out of the school, heading toward Haggrid's hut. She was livid. If I recall, they wound up using some kind of spell on her that knocked her out or paralyzed her temporarily; imagine the fear of God that Minerva put into someone that they had to do that.

Minerva McGonagall... By far the most underrated character of the entire Harry Potter series. She tried to stop Harry from being put with the Durseleys, and continuously watched out for Harry and all his friends for the rest of their schooling and sometimes beyond. She punished fairly and taught well, and she was one of the few to stand up against Umbridge. Like, I honestly don't know why she isn't consistently praised and adored like Snape or Dumbledore are. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyone who praises Snape for anything more than his potion and spellcasting abilities are naive people ignoring the clear signs of unhealthy stalker obsession. Dumbledore was a great mentor, but an honestly terrible Headmaster. He signed off on teachers like Quirrel and Lockhart, and gave no care towards the safety and education of the students. Any headmaster that shrugs off a Professor literally casting an unforgiveable curse on each member of his class is automatically negligent af.

@@CherryBlitzzThe thing is, even Dumbledore knew Lockhart was a fraud. Apparently one of the wizards that had their story plagiarized by Lockhart was a friend of Dumbledore, and perhaps giving him the Defence Against the Dark Arts position was his way of exposing Lockhart to who he truly was.

It makes you wonder how much better this series would be if it was a TV series instead of a film series. Keep the cast, give it a budget similar to Game of Thrones (one of the most expensive shows ever made) and it would've explored more of the source material that sadly got cut in the adaptation process.

It's a crying shame that line didn't make it into the final cut for the film.

McGonagall and Flitwick were probably the only teachers at Hogwarts actually capable of the fundamentals of teaching. And McGonagall for me is one of the most badass characters in all of the series.

well you never know maybe Rowling will create a series centered on her, and her life during the war

The most underrated character in this entire series... book 5 was great for her, but book 7 had my favorite scenes... her being the one to scream out when Voldemort declared Harry dead, and the fact that she took great pride having Harry in her house, not because of his fame, but because she genuinely cared about him, in sort of that stern grandmother way. Forever salute you Minerva.

I see it as her acknowledging that this might be the last chance for her to let her shield down and be gleeful about something. She's scared but trying to hide it; and if god forbid she doesn't make it through but Molly does, Molly will be left with that one last memory of Minerva McGonagall taking a moment to enjoy something just before the most horrible battle of their lives.

You can just see Snape regret all his life decisions when McGonagall steps in front of Harry and points her wand at him.

The way she speaks in alliteration is probably my favourite part of her character idk why. "A particular proclivity for pyrotechnics". Everything she says just flows beautifully.

@@kristinvagula2821 Snape is a powerful wizard. Why would you think just because he's a potions wizard means he's not powerful? We all know he actually wanted to teach defense against the dark arts cause he knew so much of them. This dude has created his own spells such as Sectumsempra which is extremely dangerous spell and he's expert in it, he's the only one who can fly without a broom besides Voldemort, he's master at mind reading as well. He could block his mind from Voldemort each time he wanted to see into his mind. He has great knowledge in dark spells and helped Dumbledore not to die instantly after he destroyed the ring. He duelled with Slughorn, Flitwick and Mcgonnagall all at the same time. The reason he "lost" to Mcgonnagall was because he was on their side (watch Snape's memories) and didn't want to hurt anyone, he also eliminated 2 Carrows with one spell while being under attack so the school could be free. Snape is not to be underestimated. Before mcgonnagall can even say "Veraverto" she will be on the ground bloody scars all over her body

@@assadarlingtoni Yes, Snape is a very powerful wizard, but also is McGonagall, and I personally would back away the moment McGonagall even glares on me 😂 AND as Snape is on good side, I don't think he would use these Dark Spells so it is as scary as McGonagall and it does not matter who we fight because I would end up dead anyway

I don't mean to compare their skills, but I think Snape was avoiding a possible conflict as otherwise it is quite possible to cause collatoral damage. Look at how he deflects Mcgonnagal's attacks to take out two baddies at the back before he leaves through the window.

The Battle between McGonagall and Snape always actually makes me emotional and sends shivers down my spine. McGonagall staring down Snape, someone she thought she could trust, and sending powerful spells his way in an attempt to kill him. And Snape, someone she actually can trust, defending himself, taking out the carrows in the process

The thing about McGonagall is that even though she was strict, she still deeply cared about her students. She just wanted to make sure they follow the rules. Of course, a lot of rules keep us safe, so those rules would be even more important in a school of magic. Even though she is a stickler for the rules, she doesn't go with political corruption, and is against harming students.

The moment where she giggles like a little girl saying that she always wanted to use that spell, has to be one of my favourite scenes from the entire series, even the stone soldiers jumping down and marching, and her little speach to the soldiers as they march on... goosebumps always appear when I see that scene.

I love how Umbridge and McGonagall did the whole “climbing the stairs to be taller than the other” thing. That was great directing.

Voldemort might not have feared McGonagall like Dumbledore but believe me, he knew she wasn't somebody he was just going to defeat. She is still the most powerful after Dumbledore and Voldemort.

I like how he aims his wand at McGonagall, lifts it, and then aims again. Together with the expression, it really is a demonstration of reluctance.

But was actually filmed if I remember, another of many deleted scenes that didn't made the cut. Also one of my favorite deleted scenes and moments with Harry and McGonagall, she always cared a lot for Harry and Dame Smith sure showed beautifully

It would've been even better if they added McGonagall's inspection in the movie😅

Just chills from that last scene. Love the speech love the soldiers live for her last line and smile!
