12 Things Only Basenji Dog Owners Understand

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai...lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems... In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠
Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog's behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

12 Things Only Basenji Dog Owners Understand
The Basenji is a mid-size, short-haired dog of an ancient African breed, which does not bark but does yodel. They are usually about 23 pounds. This breed also has been known to chortle and cackle, and to scream if you accidentally step on its tail.
A Basenji is graceful in movement. They are fastidious in personal habits, with a preference for privacy when certain bodily functions are being performed too; it is never vulgar or noisy at these times.
In this video, we are going to be highlighting the things only Basenji dog breed owners know about their pets.
Let’s get it started shall we?

Mahalo for this. My best pal of 14 years 9 months and 13 days. Was my Basenji. I had to put him down last year. All that you said is true. I miss him and think of him often. But we had the best of times and he gave me the greatest memories. He was a rascal. And I wouldn’t want him any other way. Aloha.

The Basenji has been an all-purpose hunting dog across Africa for thousands of years and unlike most hounds, it is both a sighthound and a scenthound - and can be trained to point and retrieve. The breed is virtually unchanged since the days of the Pharaohs making it one of the oldest 'true to type' breeds. they are also a spitz and in the hound group of according to the AKC.

I had a red basenji/ shiba mix. She wes extremely smart and about 50 lb. I never heard her make any noise besides a snarl her whole 15 year life. She also hated my mom. I loved her. Miss you Toby.

I have a big red Basinji named Luke. He is a shelter rescue that had a hard time finding a home as he was returned 3 times. Luke is a 100 pound Basenji. A giant among Basinji's I guess. Luke was scared and aggressive when I got him as people had treated him poorly before I got him. I have had a few dogs over my life and Luke was the biggest challenge for sure. Luke has been with me for 5 years now and he is the most affectionate dog I've ever had, he goes everywhere with me even to work because I own my business. A Basenji is certainly not for everyone and probably not the best choice for new dog owners. There are so many great dogs at the Humane Society so if you are looking for a loyal companion for life check out your local shelter.

The basenji is a very excellent smart temperamental and protective dog they do come out of Africa now but originated in Egypt years ago. They also come in blue tri colors, blue and cream and also blue brindle which the only color that the AKC does recognizes which is the blue and cream because they say that the blues are a dilute color. I owned a blue tri-color female which was a very special intelligent smart loving and calm dog and I also owned a red and white puppy from her that was also a very good calm dog. I strongly suggest that before anybody decides to just go out and purchase one they need to do research on them so that they know what they are getting into when they do purchase a basenji they can be a very difficult and stubborn dog because they are so intelligent and they think for themselves and can be very stubborn and if you don't know what you're getting into when purchasing one you may be making a mistake if you haven't done your research on them so I suggest very strongly that if anyone decides to get one they do need to do research on their temperamentsin any and all information about them that they can find out before making a purchase. They are super great dogs and if you don't know or do the research you might be very disappointed once you get one if you haven't done enough research on them and about them and make sure that you purchase from a reputable breeder.p

Basenjis are sight hounds, not scent hounds. Not to say they can't use their nose like other dogs, just that they rely more upon sight. Also, I had no trouble house-training mine, and even trained one to use a litter box, when I lived in an apartment.

I also have found that a basenji is not hard to housebreak as long as you start them getting used to them to using puppy papers they are not very difficult at all to housebreak as long as you get them used to the puppy papers around 4 weeks I had six puppies and before they turned 8 weeks old when I sold them each and every one of them was housebroken as long as you are very committed to getting them housebroken and using puppy papers once they get older they will also automatically go outside on their own because their mother also teaches them at the same time as long as they are with her for at least 8 weeks before you sell them. Before getting one I suggest that you do a lot of research on this breed of dog and if you do decide to purchase one to make sure that you get it from a reputable breeder.

my basenji mix was pad trained when I got him at 8 weeks but the day I brought him home I just took him out frequently. it also helped that i had a senor female lab who was well behaved and was a great role model and helper dog. it made training easier when he would observe her doing a task like walking on leash and then doing the same.

They don't have that "I love you" expression of other dogs. They want to escape and run. Sometimes they manage it. As for intelligence, they used to be ranked the second least intelligent, just ahead of beagles or something like that, because they won't do what you tell them. But they are intelligent and patient when they want something like to escape and run. They love but don't have that need to stick around their people. They show affection when their people return home, and only then will they wag their tales, but they're not really waggers. They don't show their good old doggie nature that way. If they escape, you probably need to run and chase them. If you don't they may come back eventually if not hit by a car.

Do proper research dont trust these short films they are a semi domesticated dog breed that needs at very least an hours walk a day they Should only be let off the leash in a fenced area if they see a small animal you wont be able to stop them chasing it if it crosses a road they will follow they are a special dog that deserves a special owner for life

They had me until they talked about shaving the coat. Basenjis never need to be shaved. Their coat is extremely short, so such a thing would be completely unnecessary.
