SUMMARY:
- Make it a rule to pay all your fixed expenses on the very first day through automated systems. This way, you'll always have a clear view of your financial situation.
- Plan your shopping list in advance, and schedule your big purchases during sales to get a good bargain!
- If lists don’t put an end to your impulsive shopping, it's time to try the ultimate technique: “no spending” days. Your task here is very simple: forbid yourself from spending money on any unnecessary things for one day.
- “Going cashless” seems really convenient, but this way of handling your finances isn't that effective once you see just how easy it is to swipe that piece of plastic!
- Any loose change that you drop in your bag and forget about can buy you a great cup of coffee or a snack that you normally pay for with the rest of your money.
- Whenever something breaks, our natural instinct is to replace it with a new one. But most of the time, it can be quickly and easily repaired! A lot of millionaires agree with this too and strongly believe in committing to a purchase until its last breath.
- Who said that saving money has to be miserable? You can tackle this problem from a completely different perspective, like splurging on things that make you better instead of buying yet another pair of shoes.
- While we're on the topic of effectively splurging money, according to Business Insider, the rich don't hesitate to spend money on services that save their time either.
- Don't stop yourself from buying a guitar if you're passionate about learning how to play it or spending money on a good camera if you wanna get into photography.
- Most millionaires have pretty colorful lives, and it's all thanks to their ability to invest money not only in cool ideas but also in new experiences.
- Let's say you're out shopping, and you see the coolest decorative art ever. Of course, you feel the strong urge to buy it right here and right now. But instead of doing that, you go home and let 24 hours pass.
- If you wanna finally start saving up some money, here's how you should divide your income: 50% goes to all your living essentials (rent, utilities, groceries, and so on), 30% is for personal things (like entertainment, shopping, hobbies, and other things that make you happy), and 20% must go straight to your savings account.

Most videos on money or budgeting does not include "giving". I started budgeting for it and I can give without any stress every month. Sometimes it's cooking for homeless, or cooking for colleagues, friends just because or helping a friend through difficult times, or simply buying something for someone because I thought they would enjoy it or it reminded me of them. We should save money but never cling to it. It should be free flowing in your life.

One of the best things my Dad always taught me was about cars. He says we save for cars and do not take out car loans. So yep, since I was 15 I had what was called a car account. I'm now 48 and have never had a car loan and drive any car I've always had for many years. So I only bought a car when I really needed one and would have a savings account ready to buy the car when I needed it. It's probably saved me tons of money over the years. I currently drive a 2007 Honda Accord--don't need something fancy for car pools. and don't need something fancy to impress the Moms in the pickup line.

#8 is a real one, if you can make good money. That is, always think about what you would pay yourself for your time. If you can make $50 an hour with your time, then it is foolish to do a task that you can pay someone else $15 an hour to do (unless you actually enjoy doing it). That is something my self-made, well-off grandfather always said.

I go for 50% in savings, 10% in charity, and the other 40% for bills and entertainment. We spend most on rent/mortgage, cars (upkeep, payment, gas, etc.), and eating out. I shop sales only, buying classics that stand the test of time, cook my meals, have picnics in the park, dinner dates at home, run outside, use public transportation (buses, cabs, trains), and keep friends that are sensible and value relationships over “keeping up with the Joneses”. I have more saved than many people I know, but people think I do better than them because I am neat, clean, look healthy, and have studied how to live well but never pay full price. I treat myself to one nice dinner, movie, show, plus a pair of shoes (or dress or sweater or jewelry) a month, and it helps me really appreciate the item.

Pack your lunch from homemade items. I made about 2 weeks of lunches for under $30 by making my own spicy beans, salsa, guac and just buying the tortillas and adding some lettuce. These burritos taste like $8 burritos. Don't buy soda. People who complain about money all the time often buy food out way too much. I am certainly not rich, or well off but I try my hardest to follow a few rules. 1) pay yourself first. Figure out how much you want or can afford to save and save transfer it into a saving account before any over bill or personal purchases are made. 2) write a food plan for the week, write a shopping list of what you need, not what you want. 3) pay your house hold bills, straight away. 4) manage debt or try to be debt free ( this helps a lot) 5) enjoy life

The 50/30/20 rule is extremly difficult in these times. Wages simply have not kept up with the cost of living over the last generation (21-24 years). Rent, transportation (car or metro), food, college (up 300%) etc., tend to be more than 50% for the average middle class person.

No Shopping days 50/30/20 method and going home thinking if its worth it or not, if i forget about it then it's just wants.. after doing this for 3 months now i have roughly $2,000 in my bank account. Thank you for sharing.

Don't get married until you have saved enough. You will only end up having to repeat your old life with your new family. Finding love is great but doing so without considering the obvious future is not a good thing.

10 - 20 -70% (10% giving, 20% savings, 70% fixed and all other) Also, don't save coins, save either $1 or $5 bills depending on what you can afford. Why, because $1.00 is the new quarter.

everything's on "autopay" here. the only pain is when the credit card company says your account may have been compromised and they issue you a new number. a month later you realize some of the accounts you forgot when you get due notices and late fees, so then you change the account numbers, sometimes you can get the fees removed with a phone call, explaining that your credit card was canceled. my Discover card is on it's fourth number, but is says member since 1989. stuff happens!

Sometimes some people consider the rich people as poor and poor as rich.we as a small country have seen many rich people they call in western are going by public transport and stay in small shanty places and eat junk foods.but they call rich.but we as poor ppl (in their eyes) travel all over the world spend money on good foods wear expensive cloths and hire luxury rooms or hire comfi vehicles .also living to standards .I wonder why those called rich countries even haven't travel enough to see the world.

I love to use saving change method. Here's my tip:market When I go to school afternoon, I wake up early in the morning and go to by normal things that I need(bread, milk and other things). After shopping I take a little bit money for me and save It every day. Some people will say that this is stealing from my own parent. But count like this, this is the money from my "shipping service" cuz I need to walk to market 😂

This is more about a phylosophy. When u are poor spending ur money time to time to please urself with something expensive gives u the drive to keep fighting daily as u are unsure about ur future. When u are rich every material aspect is granted, u can easily focus on supposedly saving a penny. Comparing a billionaire that is saving a penny with someone struggling to have a descent meal daily is unrealistic. U just don't obey the same rules. And will always have different end results.

  • @janedoe5829

    @janedoe5829

I understand what you are saying, however buying expensive stuff all the time is self defeating if you are not rich. A spurge now and then is different than doing it all the time as a habit. A spurge now and then will keep your spirits up and make you feel better about life, however making it a habit will only make things worse.

This is how you can not spend your money in a few days. 1. Hide your money somewhere that you will forget that you put it there. 2. Then try to forget it. ( don't worry if you forget where you put it because that's good.) you want to forget about it so you don't spend it. That how you don't spend your money but then you will remember where you put it. :)
