Josh, prayer is a dialogue with a higher being. Instead of praying to whatever, seek to find out who God is and what he is looking for from you.

“You’ll never know how much greater of an impact you can make with your life until you stop spending your days watching other people live their’s “ really resonates with me 🤔
Over past two years I have followed your advice. It takes minutes now to tidy away my kitchen. It is so much more than decluttering. It has simplified my life and reduced unnecessary stress.

I want to say Thank you… In the last 15 months I have gone through the whole house, decluttering, organizing, and cleaning. Today I “finished.” Last cupboard in my kitchen is done…. So what am I going to do starting Jan 1? I’m going to start again… I have removed SO much “stuff” but so much more can go. Between your and other minimalists you tubers encouragement I have been able to do this. I have also lost 50 pounds! Gone to 2MAD. I have a ways to go (22 more pounds) to reach my goal of a healthy BMI. So thank you again. Going to go over to the Bible App and find that devotional!

That's great to hear ! It's inspirational! Wishing you all the very best !
Own less. Watch less tv by 1 hour Eat healthy by smaller amounts of more veggies Spend less Read more Become more generous Ask more questions/good questions Complain less Appreciate your spouse more Get more exercise Pray more Dream bigger dreams for the person you can be and the difference you can make. Strive for 1 percent better.
Thrift stores are very tempting for me. One is next door to a grocery store I frequent. So this year in order to be more aware of my spending I am choosing do my grocery shopping that is at a different location (and not beside a thrift store).
#9. Spouse. We are married 55 years this year. We still ‘like’ each other. Love us one thing. Liking your spouse brings in respect and appreciation to the marriage. Yes. This works. Pat in Colorado
I adopted the rule of just trying to outdo myself the day before. It’s a resolution you can make any day of the year. I moved towards minimalism years ago. I also quit watching TV years ago too. Life without TV is a different world tbh. They’re obnoxious to me now I can’t even watch any it feels like a waste of my time now. Minimalism and life without TV free up so much head space and drive you to find better things to do. It’s really just pushed me towards a fitness based lifestyle with more exercise and a focus on healthy cooking and eating. I enjoy the outdoors more and enjoy more worthwhile and active hobbies. If someone is in a rut of living on processed junky food and sitting in front of the TV for fun there’s nowhere to go but up. I’ve been there but I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to spend my life doing because it wouldn’t end well so I made the necessary changes. Take it one day at a time and you can evolve into something else.
We took out our TV 8 years ago and it was one of the best things we could do for ourselves and we didn't miss it!
Complain less and Pray more. Absolutely ❤️🌴🐈🐈🐈🌴🏴☠️
One of the best things I ever did was going vegan. Not overnight, but gradually. I find joy in the fact that I no longer contribute to animal exploitation and suffering. It is better for my health and also for the environment. I wish more people will start consuming less animal products and also feel more compassion in their hearts for all sentient beings.

Offering you some love here: get your DNA tested and analyzed. I was a vegan for 7 years and discovered that my DNA shows a VERY high need for Choline and B vitamins in general, as well as zinc. This is real, and has serious long-term consequences for mental health. We are animals, our bodies have needs. 😘

@@maureensamson4863 I personally believe that goes a long way for some people, may not be enough for other people, SOME people are well adapted to various diets, including a "vegetarian" diet, as their lineage adapted over generations in various ways. We are not all identical, it depends on one's genetics. That's why I led with "get your DNA tested and analyzed" (I like FoundMyFitness).
Hi Joshua - Great video and list. To go along with acknowledging your spouse, my biggest action is more kindness. I practice it like any other skill. My husband is a Veteran and has PTSD. This manifests itself in many forms. The act of being kind and loving goes a long way to enhance both our lives. It also rubs off on those around you. I even thank "Alexa" when she helps me - and she is always kind in return. Kindness and good manners, thanking and saying please will enhance your lives and make you happy. Love PegEgg

I’m going to try reading more paper books this year. I’ve developed a habit of listening to audiobooks and of working all day without breaks. I never allow myself to just sit and read anymore. I don’t have to be “productive” all day long.
If you are thinking that SUCCESS is luck or accident, you are wrong. Because do not know how successful people work till they become successful.... I have tried a couple of months to be sucessful and it was so difficult.... Work on to make luck ! anyway I loved watching this video, thanks. a fellow creator,,.
Eat more vegetables was my goal for 2022, and I achieved it! More or less is def a key for success instead of hard all or nothing changes! Thank you for this encouraging video.

I am grateful that you gave me that opportunity.
I appreciate the timing of your video. I have been working out my goals for 2023 and this is great advice. I give a lot of my time, energy, and talents to others as I am a teacher and work in missions, however, number 9 is going on the top of my list. Your video made me realize that I may not show my appreciation enough for my husband. I wouldn't be able to do what I do without him and he needs to be shown that more. Thank you!
Thank you for this list! Here's a quote from one of my favorite Marshall Vian Summers' book - "The big change is imperceptible. It happens at a deeper level. It is not just a re-evaluation or a new experience. Something really has shifted on the inside at a level beyond the realm of the intellect, and now the intellect must catch up and re-adapt itself and re-adjust." I highly recommend his books, they are all available online at no charge!

Thanks a lot!
I honestly think this is one of your best videos. Thank you! ❤
I have learnt a lot form you and others in your field. Today i was at the recycling centre AGAIN and also the do tation center AGAIN. I absolutely love the way things are changing for me because I have made a clear decision to own less and experienced so many benefits because of it in my life. Im now working on my mindset: practicing gratitude very much every day with the intention of completely changing my mental habits. Im very grateful for you and people like you that have helped me open my eyes and my heart. Keep up the good work.
I'm writing these up these "resolutions "and putting them on my refrigerator. Great stuff.
Notes: 1 Own less. 2 watch less tv, KZread etc. 3 healthy diet- make small changes. 4 spend less on unnecessary things. 5 read more books. 6 become more generous. 7 ask more questions. 8 complain less. 9 appreciate your spouse more. 10 get more exercise -a little more than last year. 11 pray more. 12 dream bigger dreams for your life and make a bigger impact for good on those around you. These make sense, especially the small incremental changes. I bought an Apple Watch this summer to help improve my fitness and it has. I will continue to change the goals for slow steady improvement. I serve a double helping of veggies at dinner, zero sugar and low carbs. I’m allergic to beans and I want to take it further and try the Whole 30. I’ve been slowly cutting back on dairy during December so it’s not a shock to my body when dairy disappears for 30 days. After that I will reintroduce dairy and gluten free grains and see what happens.
I've been reading your The Minimalist Home 5-day devotional on The Bible app, and the devo for today included this passage: "Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings? They’ll change their tune when they see Zerubbabel setting the last stone in place..." from Zechariah. Small beginnings lead to the accomplishment of big things if we'll just start (even small!) and stick with it.

Good morning, 6am here, sipping morning coffee with these great advice and some ideas of 2023 resolutions, what makes mr. Joshua vids so relatable and easy to digest is because always goes to our daily basis activity, cmiiw this some sum i got, less or more... 1. Own less (and lesser) stuff 2. Less tv / screen time 3. More healthy food / diet 4. Less binge shopping 5. More read books 6. Become more generous (w/ money or time in helping others) 7. Ask more questions ( to build better social skills / relationship) 8. Complain less 9. Appreciate your spouse ( this one should be first, i think) 10. More exercise / healthy living 11. Pray more ( this really helps to calm and coping any difficulties in life) 12. Dream bigger dream for your life
These 12 are vital and played into my life for many years. It became the norm in due time. I have a cheat day now n then but I remain in tact all around. I end my with prayers and thanking for all I'm blessed with. Each morning first thing, blg glass of water off bedside table to hydrate and Thanking God for my restful sleep and for a beautiful day ahead.

A great goal-setting journal on Amazon (Resolutions: Yes; New Year’s Resolutions: NO!:) that has nothing to do with making resolutions that everyone breaks. I bought this little journal on the strength of the title alone.
Joshua, what a great video! I have always loved a new year, new opportunities, etc... but seems the last few years everyone bachs at resolutions... they are only made, to be broken.... but like you say, people try to eat the WHOLE steak in one bite!!! We can just try to better ourselves, a little bit each day. Just be a little better than we were yesterday!!! A great list. Greetings from Northern Minnesota!
Thanks for your suggestions over last year or so. I bought 2 of ur books too. I’m on SSI and in recovery. I live in Hud housing so being careful with spending money important. I have left abusive marriage of decades. I left a lot of things at house and moved to a studio apartment. I find ur suggestions has improved my life dramatically. I know my next goal is to stop smoking. I have the disease of more so living with less works. I have found that if my place messy means I’m not in good place with my sobriety. I’m happy to say my place almost always in order and I’m sober 21/2 years. I m happy & grateful for my HP which is God.Look forward to ur podcast on KZread. Thanks God Bless
Josh my husband gifted me your book for Christmas last year. I haven’t finished it but my goal is to finish it this month by the end of January. I’m trying to cut back on my use of my phone.
I like the less TV goal

Hi Joshua, thank you for everything God guide you 😌
Be like the tree; it becomes more powerful as it ages. In the same way, we can improve by refining our lives, learning new things. Happy New Year 🎉
Make a new goal every month of the year, these are all great ideas!
Another great video Joshua. Wishing you and your family health and happiness in 2023
Well, how am I supposed to cut my banana now? In all seriousness, this is the message everyone needs to hear. I am 'resolving' to do several things in 2023 but you described it just right - I would like to do "more or less" of these things, not become a new person overnight. Thank you for your continual positivity and hope.
I love your content!!!!!! Thank you for not having so many ads- I get so tired of all the advertising. 🥰. You and your wife are precious!!!
I see a Compassion Gift Catalog. I sponsor children through that program. I stopped going to Starbucks over ten years ago and have been doing this instead. Much more fulfilling than buying lattes (which I started making at home).
Thanks Joshua for this informative Video.
Really great video. I've experienced a major life change within the last year, and am in the process of simplifying, growing, also finding new meaning. This is very applicable advice/information. I'm definitely getting to it. Cheers. 👍🏾☕️
That was a fantastic message Joshua. I follow your videos regularly and they have been very helpful in turning me from a maximalist to a minimalist 😄. Wish You and Your family a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 😊
I am thankful for you and your channel. I've just downloaded your book and I got to donate to your organization as well this year. Thank you. You and your team inspire so much. I can feel Gods presence in you before I knew you were a Pastor. Do you have video's of any sermons? I know God has gave me such a peace when I listen to your videos. I understand that may seem ordinary but I'm a survivor of domestic violence and other assaults. I'm usually put off by a lot of people and Pastor Becker you do not. I hope to find some of your sermons. Thank you again. Happy New Year to you and yours

Thank you, Josh. This may be one of my absolute favorite of your videos, and that’s saying something.
Bravo 👏🏻 🤩 and Amen! I always appreciate your sharing Joshua but this post is so good!! I absolutely love your encouragement on prayer even if you don’t necessarily believe a certain belief or doctrine or whatever.. just quieting ourselves before something bigger than us opens up revelation and changes we never knew possible! Thank you and Happy New Year 🎊
Love your channel. Happy New Year and looking forward to your new content. Reading is def a goal next year!
I absolutely love that the recommendation for prayer acknowledges and is inclusive of everyone--even people who don't believe in god. Whatever we want to call it (prayer, meditation, mindfulness, spell working, setting intentions, etc.) it's really similar and very helpful to ground oneself. Thank you!

I felt my shoulders tense when Joshua mentioned prayer, as I’ve had many well-meaning friends persist in trying to convince me to adopt their faith even after I’ve made myself clear that I have heard enough. I work hard to remain kind and courteous as I know they care about me, but I also resent their belief that if I would just listen I would see that they are right and I am wrong. I’m grateful that he added a broader definition of prayer as an expression of gratitude and desires, with reference to our values. My meditation practice includes thankfulness and a thoughtful statement of the desire that all beings may be well, loved, free from fear, and happy (metta), and afterward I always feel steadier and more ready to take on the day. But I haven’t been practicing consistently the past few years, so I appreciate his reminder. ❤
Thank you for all the inspiration! I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful and healthy 2023!
I love this video. I decovered your videos this year. They have really made me think about the way I spend my time. You have reminded me of things that I don't always think about like being grateful or praying (unless something goes wrong). I am grateful for your words and wisdom.
1. PRAY ( FIRST ) Re- arrange the list according to what's most important to you in your life.
Joshua, over the last couple of years, you have inspired me and helped me to improve my life immensely. Thank you. I wish you and your family a very happy New Year. ❤️🌹

Great advice to start out 2023 ❤️ Thank you! With so much craziness around us, these principles still hold true ❤
You've helped me Joshua. Thank you! God bless you!
Your videos kickstarted my minimalism journey. and have kept me going Your latest book broadened those principles and helped me evolve in more areas. Thank you for the work that you do! I also appreciate how you choose your words...being respectful and inclusive in your approach. For example, the way you explained the benefits of prayer was inclusive to all...whether religious or not.
Thank you! ❤
