5-3-1 really is a great program and "5-3-1 Forever" really gets into programs for the really serious powerlifters. I tried to pick up a little lean mass but I guess at age 69, it is asking too much to pack in 3 or 4 thousand calories a day. My PRs and one rep maxs have gone up though. I recommend Wendler to all. He basically blueprints it all for you, just follow what he puts out.

Quality content as usual! I was wondering if you’ve had a chance to pick up 5/3/1 Forever? It’s the next variation to Beyond 5/3/1 and has at least 30-40 different variations of 5/3/1, the core of the program has also changed to a Leader, Anchor and Realization workflow which is sorta another fancy way of saying Block periodization. Additionally, may I ask how low in calories did you go when you were cutting with 5/3/1, which variation work for you best for cutting and did you bother to do any form of conditioning”?

Hey, Brandon! Correct me if I'm wrong but you ran this program on a deficit (you mentioned you lost weight and got more shredded) and it still worked for you? You gained strength while getting leaner? Also, how many accessories exercises can I add to each workout? I'm moving on from a heavy volume PPL split and I'm afraid of losing my gains due to the seemingly low volume that 531 provides. Thanks a lot!

You should consider looking into some of Barbell Medicine's programming eventually when you start looking for other options. They have some great templates if you don't really want to work with a coach. I would recommend their Strength III template for you because it's the most advanced one and has the most customization options. I've used their templates and now online group programming and have seen great progress compared to my efforts before. They're supposed to have great one on one coaching as well.

What do you think about LP programs for someone that's been working out a while but never did a true linear progression strength program (I just kinda bounced around and did whatever I felt like while occasionally doing something like smolov jr)? I've been going to the gym the last 10 years off and on, more consistently the last 5. 6ft 185 lbs, sq: 305, bp: 265, dl: 365, ohp: 150 (I've done more than that but that's most current). I've done 531 most recently (actually during a cut and it helped preserve strength for the most part) but then started thinking it was better reserved for after I've squeezed out all I could from a more traditional liner program. I've been thinking of trying greyskull lp, I'm just not sure if I can still benefit from a "beginner/novice" program, or if I'd be better suited to just go into some of the more intermediate programs, and I don't want to waste the next few months trying to figure that out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do chest/Back then arm day, then legs, but I feel like im losing out because I'm not following a program. I wanna give this one a go starting tomorrow. Is this program mainly focused around strength gains? Or will I experience mass gain as well?

Iam not sure if it’s good it feels right and it’s my own thing but in bench after the three working sets I will get out the sling shot and do 3 bonus heavy sets right now with the blue sling shot I am doing 3 reps at 10 lbs over my absolute max. Feels good and I will increase every 4 weeks I guess until I can’t go up. Max is 350lbs and with the sling shot Iam at 360x3 for three sets. I use to only be at 2 reps. I just want to get 405 so bad bro. 😂
