@@patriciavandevelde5469 The prices, and quality of life, living in Mexico, Central America, and even South America are as varied as they are in the U.S. or anywhere else. One could say of American that it's a beautiful place to live with clean cities, beautiful geography, and friendly people. And that would be true in some places. As well, one could say that America has a horrible problem with crime, including drugs and human trafficking, and that the corruption in business and government makes it a horrible place to be. And that, too, is true in some places. No single generalization such as michele offered applies to an entire country unless it's a literal war zone. I don't doubt that michele's experiences were unpleasant, but that doesn't speak for the entire country, just as looking at gang turf in Los Angeles or Tacoma doesn't accurately reflect the conditions across the entire U.S. Your best bet is to visit for a couple weeks and see how the places you visit, and the people in those places, vibe with you. Safe travels!

I am costarican, it's as expensive as any developed country, unsafe, chauvinist culture, awful and dirty cities, the roads are a joke. It's dangerous for women, we are at risk at all times. It used to be an amazing country in the 70s or 80s but now it's a whole different story. San José is one of the ugliest and dirtiest cities in the world.

About Philippines is very accurate. So, if you wanna retire here, retire outside the metro, aside from the lowest cost of living, it's safer, it's greenier, it's away of pollution, people are friendlier, it's fresher, best places for retirement. But if you're looking to make a business during retirement then the chaotic metro is the place. But you can also put up business in provinces like restaurant, hotel and farming.

These are inappropriate countries to be an expat for westerners and English speakers like ourselves. They do not offer western living lifestyles and you have to remember in Indonesia big cities are Islamic state. Yes women in head coverings and harsher laws in general based on Islamic believes. A place like Bali a vacation place is some speak English. And these places are not cheap. I know I’ve been there many times. These places are good cheap places to travel for those who are working in G7 countries with good jobs but that’s about it. There’re people who try to retire in Philippines for example, and they almost always end up coming back citing the reasons of poor standard of living, poor and expensive medical care and everything what you would expect from something between the third world countries and developing countries. No one speaks French in these places, English sure only in tourist zones but they speak local languages. Poor people and poor countries. Sex tourism Philippines haven’t you heard of it? It’s real. I live in Asia too but I would never immigrate to these countries ever. Affordable travel sure. Never immigrate.

In my case it is very inexpensive as 1. my wife owns a small house in the village and 2. being married to an Italian I am a resident and get free health care. Living in the countries in the video is a big problem when you need health care. 3rd world country health care is terrible and not available to non citizens or very expensive. I could live quite nicely on my SS pension in Vietnam for instance and it would be interesting but if any problems arise, one is screwed.

Try Catania.🤣 Besides, the best and brightest Italian doctors are practicing medicine in the US. I had a WONDERFUL Italian doctor at MD ANDERSON HOSPITAL in Houston. The elites throughout Latin America come to MD ANDERSON for their medical care.

Cherry, sometimes the point of going somewhere else is to distance oneself from the harm that one's nation is doing to its own people and to other people around the world. People who care about something other than themselves and their budget usually consider such things in addition to cost of living. I dare say that most Americans don't think like that. They don't know, and don't care, whether the U.S. does horrible things to Americans and to people in other coutries. As long as they aren't negatively impacted, they turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to such abuses toward others. With that in mind, legal terms such as 'accessory' and 'accomplice' and 'complicit' come to mind.

Cambodia is relatively cheap and fairly easy to settle in for a while anyway but Hun Sen cant last forever and then what?Currently he is trying to put his son in line to take over but if that doesnt work who knows?Health care isnt great, anything serious and you would have to go to Thailand and there are tremendous problems with traffic, trash and the infrastructure in general.Stayed in Kampot fot a couple of mnths earlier this year and the riverside has bern invaded by girly bars,a spill over from Sinoukville, which has changed the atmosphere of the area.Depends what you want of course..for me the food in restaurants etc does not compare to Thailand and isnt much cheaper either.

The Withlacoochee Trail is 65 miles and the Cross Florida Greenway, which is not a rails to trails and has interesting curves, is 15 miles. However, we bought our home in 2014 for $150K but now it's worth about $300K, so home prices are going up quickly. We also have great kayaking year around in the Gulf and in Spring-fed rivers with plenty of wildlife and water transparency of about 50 feet. I run and bike year-round but summer is the least favorable season. My wife and I usually spend July visiting grandchildren in Minnesota. We are about 40 minutes from Gainesville, so we occasionally take advantage of cultural events at the University of Florida.

Decent list overall but some things about a few of these countries. Costa Rica's COL of living is going up in recent years due to it being a popular expat country. Turkey is experiencing some of the highest levels of inflation in the world right now with a current inflation rate of around 80%. It is leaning towards political instability and possibly economic collapse each month something is not done about the mind boggling inflation. Finally, some of these countries aren't the best for LGBT individuals or minorities, notably Poland. Portugal should be added to the list since it is (for now) relatively cheap, a beautiful and peaceful country.

That guy with the Nomad Capitalist channel makes it sound like half the countries in Latin America are safe and beautiful and then I see comments like these that confirm my suspicions. Canada and the U.S. have their problems but if all these other countries have the kind of crime that I'm hearing about, then why the heck are they so expensive still? All these expat videos are targeted toward rich retired people that can sell their home in N.America for over a million. Some of us in our 50s don't own a home, pay $2,000 Cdn/month in rent, and only make $60,000 Cdn/year. Who is going to move to Ecuador, Chile or Peru if you still have to pay $2,000 U.S./month just to live with more crime?

Purchasing my first 2 houses in Dubai is a testament to what smart financial decisions and perseverance can achieve. I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my second house already, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing is a grand choice I made.....

How do you go about maintaining your houses in Dubai? Are you still in the US or did you move to Dubai? What kind of job do/did you have? I was really thinking about getting into the housing market especially in places like these

I hate Dubai. There is huge problem with human exploitation. Basically open slavery. Muslims do not respect other religions as well as poor people ,especially their own servants/employees.

Colombia? A drug state where people get killed for owing money to “people” and no one speaks English. lol sure. People live uncivilized in there. Entire South America is pretty uncivilized with modernization of 50s to 60s.

@@kimballspeakthreetheater3318 Countries apply the same residency criteria to foreigner applicants of all countries. The Philippines for instance does not have a different more difficult criteria for an American and an easier one for a Japanese. UNLESS they have a category where ancestry is a factor such as in the case of many European EU countries. For instance, those who have Polish ancestry and can prove it will find it easy to get Polish/EU residency.

Both countries are dangerous in their own way. Many, many years ago Costa Rica used to be safe, but not anymore. And those claiming that Nicaragua is the safest country in Central America are propagating a myth.

@@micky4fun the reason it is safer is probably because it is run by people who care little about human rights, thieves are afraid... And Costa Rica is safer compared to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador...because gangs don't exist in Nicargua. Numbers don't lie, Nicaragua is safer. Not saying we should admire them or wish the other countries were also a dictatorship, it is what it is.

@@micky4fun Nicaragua is safer as long as you don't say something against the status quo. Countries like Iran are known to have low delinquency. The problem with Costa Rica is that people think it is safe...and lower their guard. Plus their media have a tendency not to report in order to keep their reputation as a safe destination.
