Great tips, very clear. the STAR technique is a must for any interview, stop, breathe, and then take a moment to prepare before giving your answers, this also shows that you have listened to the question, that you understand it fully and then give your answer clearly

@@suweydamohamud5237 Hiya, thanks for your message and congrats on getting an interview. My best advice would be: 1. Research as much as you can about NHS 111. What the role of a health advisor is, what the NHS 111 Service is and why it was set up. I watched so many videos from other health advisors that gave me loads of advice. My interviewer was very impressed with how prepared I was for my interview. 2. Listen and watch all of Richard's videos about passing an interview, especially this video about NHS 111. It has so many valuable tips on what to say but also what not to say and how to answer questions. 3. Just be yourself, don't try and be someone your not. They are not looking for the over confident, know-it-all, your nervousness shows you care about the interview and says alot about your character. 4. Continuously refer back to putting the patients first. Make sure every answer you give is with the patient as the centre point. You have to remember that you are applying for a role where you will be dealing with lots of patients on a daily basis so you have to demonstrate that you will always put the needs of the patient first. 5. Use phrases such as "in the patients best interest", "person centred" etc. 6. Make sure you write notes for yourself that you can refer too. I made it clear at the start of the interview "in preparation for this interview, I've made some notes that I will be referring too, I hope that's okay". 7. Make notes on why your applying for the role, your understanding of the role, your understanding of NHS 111 and your transferable skills. Those were the questions I was asked. I was also asked about my understanding of confidentiality. She then ran through some scenarios and I had to answer them the best I could but it's a great thing to start with that you will always follow your training and developed skills plus you will always follow NHS guidelines. 8. Ask questions, this is your opportunity to get as much information out of them as you can. Don't forget, an interview is not just them getting to know you and seeing if you are a good fit for the role but also is an opportunity for you to get to know more about the role to see if its something you would like to persue. It's just as much for your benefit as it is theres. 9. Make sure your actively listening to all the information your being given and make notes should you wish too. 10. Make sure you wear smart clothes, are prepared, have researched and done your interview prep, stay calm and good luck! If you are successful, which branch will you be based?

I got the job!!! Thank you for the guidance and advice. I was also asked Tell me something about yourself? (They wanted something fun, interesting, non work related to break the ice) Tell me a time you went above and beyond what was needed? I used a work scenario Tell me what our values are and how you apply them to your practice? Before the interview I had looked at the employment companies website looked into their values, policies etc to get a feel for them. I recommend this! Was given a scenario of a caller and asked what I would do? What targets would you expect as a 111 advisor? (I was told that if I didn’t know the answers it’s ok, but I managed to guess two out of 3 lol ) And some questions included in the video 😊 My role was for a Clinical Advisor

@@CareerVidz they asked questions on a scenario basis. The questions i had were these: 1) What qualities do you have and why did you apply for 111? 2) someone breached patient information on facebook. How would you handle the situation and what would you do? 3) What would you do and how would it make you feel if a couple of staff members on training were being disruptive and disrespectful to the trainer?. 4) You have a colleague that has not been herself/ been underperforming, she takes time out and sits in her car, what would you do? 5) What would you do with feedback given to you and how would you take it? 6) How would you show kindness to others? These were the 6 questions i was asked. I don’t remember them exactly word for word but they were along those lines. I answered all of them correctly but apparently I didn’t give in depth/detailed answers to some of them hence why i was unsuccessful. My mind went blank and i was so nervous especially after preparing for different questions which didn’t end up coming up. I did really well In probably 3 out of 6, the other 3 i did good but apparently they weren’t detailed enough which is shame. Oh well!

Great video. Unfortunately just came across this after doing the interview. I passed the telephone interview but then had to do a face to face interview (online). I didn't ask any questions at the end just when I'd expect to hear back from them but apart from that I feel I sold myself really well and put in a few "selling" points which I believe not many would have. Is it a necessity to ask questions at the end? As they did ask my twice if I had any questions

Im sorry, but that is extremely dangerous and ignorant. 111 may be a 'non-emergency' number, but you very often get calls from people who cannot breathe properly, claim they are having crushing chest pains and in serious cases CPR calls. There are also a majority of cat 3 needed responses for people who have fell and are unable to get up, most times which have to be validated by someone clinical to make sure they are needed . Some of these people need a rapid response and their care shouldn't be delayed just because they've phoned 111 instead of 999 . Additionally, the only reason you reach an ambulance dispatch is because the system has stated to you it cannot rule out the symptoms are serious and therefore an ambulance might be needed. Not because the dispatcher themselves wants to send the ambulance. The call handler has the exact same training for NHS Pathways as a 999 call handler.

I called 111 when my 6 week old son was poorly. Turned out he was about to go into respiratory arrest. Never have I been so happy to see an emergency ambulance.

@@carleymarie9739 considering how much nonsense we get dispatched to by 111, what’s more dangerous? The amount of crews that get tied up with calls that have not been triaged appropriately by a clinician. 999 calls are triaged by our CAT desk. I kid you not, I have dispatched to people that cannot sleep, insect bites, runny noses, all thanks to 111. The ambulance trusts are on their knees, due in part, to 111.
