I wrote a blog post about the soda can head gasket a long time ago. People said it wouldn't work but it did! It's cool to see others doing this now. Back then I don't think I did much to deck the head. If there was loss of compression, it was probably tiny. Maybe the thin plastic coating on the metal helps form a seal when heated. Also, ironing the soda can metal flat with a clothing iron helps make the task easier. No, I'm not kidding. It really does work!

so far in my short time in this hobby, built about eight bikes, the firt a nel lusso and graduating from there thru all the zeda 80’s and a couple phantoms and a falcon I have had the best performance with the yd 100, non window third transfer port , g2 reed 38 tooth…I soak my rings pistons and bearings for a week or so in a ziplock baggy , I sand the rings with 220 grit slightly, I also file a few grooves in the clutch plate ….. I lower the cylinder, I raise the exhaust and lower the intake… My favorite tool for cleaning up transfers is a 1/4 x 20 four inch bolt I hack saw a groove lengthwise and put my sandpaper in / homemade flapper… as always enjoy your insights.

@@donniestuckey3835 what do they call that 110 motor you have? With most of these motors, a standard thing to do is to clean up the ports, widen the exhaust primarily at the upper left and upper right, check squish and make sure it's around 0.75-0.8 mm by either shaving the top of the jug, or bottom of the head. To move the powerband up, you're going to need to change the port timing. Widen the transfers slightly towards the rear, get the top of them at around 118-124 degrees ATDC depending on what you want for power, get your blow down percentage right. There's a bit to that. The easiest thing is to get a bigger carb for that big motor something around 19mm, clean the ports, widen the exhaust, set squish gap, make sure your exhaust isn't restricted.

It's interesting that you are applying serious two-stroke 101 to this engine. It apparently needed every bit of it and more! Keep a close eye on your blowdown time as raising your transfer ports will decrease this. Too little and you'll be blowing combustion pressure into your transfer ports..not good. There's a formula for this and I can't recall it, I'm sure you can look it up. Cool video, subscribing right now. 🏁

Good to see the 110 is working out. Been checking the laws here in FL. Seems they consider a Motorized bike a moped . I'll need to get it to moped standards and get it inspected by DMS to get a vin number then get a plate for it and all you need is a regular driver license. And it must be 50cc or under . Bit of a pain , but it's not going to stop me. Tell Henry I said hello .

@Johnny Octane I'm over here in Barefoot Bay next to Sebastion . The county cops in the Bay never bother you...BUUUUTTT !, If you go into Sebastion , there is a rookie cop try'n to make a name for himself and gave me a warning so I hauled azz home. And a trooper in the area is also looking MZ bikes for sport. So I want to make my cruiser mz a leagle moped so I can thumb my nose at them and pizz them off. 40 bucks for a vin and 6 for a plate. And I just may title it too. You do not need a motorcycle endorsement or insurance in FL. Just a regular class E .And a good headlight ,tail light and brake light to be seen from 500 ft. Didn't say any thing about turn signals in the law books but I'll put them on anyway and fenders too. Will see what DNS sez when I get inspected for vin.

At least your liner looks nice and thick. On my CDH 49mm iron sleeve it's poured uneven and very thin. Actually broke off on the corner of the bottom of the cylinder flange. I complained about it, and they sent me another already broke off before it even came to me. Thing is I couldn't find the piece that broke off in the box, indicating that they sent it to me that way. You seem a lot more experienced than I am with these motors. I'd like to ask what you thought about still trying to use my cylinder, with a piece of the corner of the bottom of the bore flange being broken off? I've done spent way too much money on my build. I want to travel great distances and not breaking down is my main concern. Not so much speed, but power and longevity are paramount. Any suggestions will greatly help. Oh and before I forget, I was thinking of just doing away with the cylinder and getting a 50cc minarelli. You think I'd have decent bottom end going that route? Thanks in advance 🤗

Hello, what size jet did you end up using? Did you solder and drill or replace? In your last video, you show 0.61mm, 0.72mm and 0.77mm drill bit sizes. Our motor bogs down like you've shown in the first video. It won't even idle with the idle adjustment screw all the way in. We will deck the head and adjust the ports like you have shown.

  • @LAHover

    2 жыл бұрын

Sorry my memory on this is not great, I THINK I landed on a drilled out 0.72mm jet. The wider exhaust and pipe are what I think made the biggest difference to gain power. Decking the head for a better squish should help top end performance. I still don't know if the transfer wall modification helped much so I would try that last. New video tuning this build coming soon, but here is the jet kit I will be using for the stock PZ20 carb on this kit. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XL6BLFX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  • @LAHover

Start with just cleaning out the cylinder, and rinsing the case out with gas (be safe, do it next to the water hose). This thing had allot of metal trash in it... If performance sucks, get a pipe first, mz65, or bike berry deluxe if you are on a budget. The pipe should make up for most of the issues with the transfers by pushing the fresh charge back into the cylinder.

Most of the time they will run fine with scratches. Any loss in power will likely not be noticeable. Over time the cylinder lining may start to chip near the scratch (unless it's an iron sleeve). Personally, I would have no issues running it. When you get around to replacing it, be sure to use new piston rings.

Looks like cast 45's. Would that be the lee 200 grain flat nose? It's fun to stumble across a video with two of my hobbies mixed in. I shoot alot of cast 38 special loads, and recently upgraded my 2 cavity 358-158-rf mold to a 6 cavity. I've also been working on my motorized bike to get some more power out of it. Currently looking to get a new expansion chamber. I found out that the stock exhaust was what's been slowing my down. I drilled some holes in the baffle and got some performance increase, but just taking the bottom off entirely gives me alot more torque and top speed for now. What is that strapped to the end of the exhaust? I've heard the expansion chambers are pretty loud. I live in the Northern US Rockies, just outside Yellowstone. I'm not worried about sound when I ride out of town, but riding around town, my wife says she can hear me from about 500 yards away. That's with the baffle removed. I shudder to think of the terror I'd cause my neighbors if I don't find a better solution to the power to noise ratio.

The Phantom 85s are powerful. But they keep blowing up on people. As for the mags, we don't have a 10 round limit here. But I think I was shooting the 45 that day. It just so happened to only fit 10.

  • @CharlesVanNoland

I would experiment with a lower gear ratio from the clutch to the wheel, a bigger sprocket on the wheel. Then it can rev a bit higher and the clutch will more easily overcome torque needed at the wheel instead of slipping.

Do you cast your own boolits? Personally, I stay away from lead...I don't want to deal with lead fouling in my barrels. I reload .45acp, fmj practice rounds, for 2 to 5 inch barrels and want them to run well in all of my pistols, so I've settled on Montana Gold bullets. ANYWAY! The more I watch this channel, the more I want to build a motorized bike!

  • @LAHover

I cast most of my own. I'll some times powder coat my higher velocity rounds, but the slower stuff like 45 never seems to give me issues with fouling.

It's looking like I can buy a cdh 110cc top end for 80ish total on ebay and upgrade my overpriced BT100 way cheaper than bikeberry. Gaining 6ish cc's, getting the iron sleeve and the ability to use an expansion chamber. Bikeberry's cnc head might fit too. I can't wait to try this.

I noticed on a lot of these motors the dumbest things are wrong with them you think it’s worth buying a cheaper kit to use as a mock up to see wat it’s gona take to make it really nice so that way I’d get used to how they work and wats gona need to be beefed up for the bigger motor I figured with the kit I’ll get like the tank and all the outher stuff
