    I am a 90's kid. I graduated in 2003. The late 90's and early 2000's were some of the best years of my life. I got bullied in school a lot but I would give anything to go back in time and do it all over again. It's been 20 years but it feels like yesterday. I also was interested in the 50's because that's when my Grandma would have been in high school and I love learning about things from her generation. Life goes by so quickly and yet so slowly.

This is obligatory, after this you can choose if go to "Bachillerato" or a degree, if you complete that you can go to university. If someone can tell me if I'm wrong or not...

    I agree that in this video there was definitely a huge shift after the 2000s, but I think it also depends on the school of course. I go to a smaller school and I notice that there are large groups of people that aren’t on their phones the most and when we are we are on them together playing with filters or making each other laugh. We still make memories just in a new way. As for over “happiness” , Covid did mess us up and a lot of us are in a state of trying to refu ourselves because when we are young two years changes you allot and when that is taken away and you’re thrown into highschool we have to find ourselves and motivation.

    Lord Farquaad Statistically speaking, technological & medical advancements are increasing at a much faster rate than crime rates, natural disasters, or any catastrophic event that would to occur, in comparison. So when you say how would I know what will happen, according to the numbers, things will change for the better whether gradual or drastic, with good outweighing the bad overtime by default. And the original commenter wrote “2020s” indicating the entire decade, and not just January 1st, 2020. But regardless, small or not, in 3 months time, there will be positive change.

    To be honest as someone who spent their high school years in the 2010's, I think high school kind of sucked in that decade for a couple reasons. Yeah I agree that the use of newer technology ruined socialization with kids looking at their phones all day unlike back then where everyone just spoke in person and enjoyed the moment without the use of phones or social media. I also found that most of the grown ups including the teachers were too in control of everyone for the most part and really just wouldn't let them be kids. They would put out the strictest rules and get you in trouble for the stupidest reasons and it would just make you hate school because of it. The only year I enjoyed high school was my senior year because it felt less stressful for me and it was my very last year of school so why not make the most out of it. I'm so glad to have graduated before 2020 started because I bet high school is even worse now in the new decade.

  • @loganaugustine67

    @loganaugustine67

    I've started high school this year, I have some pretty chill teachers but I can feel way to overworked sometimes and get way to stressed out and lose all of my motivation. And yes, there are some pretty dumb rules probably similar to the 2010s. I've heard that some schools require you to ask the teacher to take a sip of water out of your own water bottle. Part of the lack of social skills could also be due to the teachers not letting us just be kids though I do agree that phones can also be a part of it. Though phones can be nice to have if you need answers or if you literally have nothing to do in class and just don't feel like socializing.

    You really get to see how phones swept through the 2000-2010's and disabled many from talking and hanging out with each other. I graduated 2021, and sure, there's a decent amount of hanging out, but even in your friend groups at least one person was on their phone at all times, and people were so mentally unstimulated from talking instead of being on their phones that conversation quality died down, and shared emotions died down. There definitely was some sort of a shift in culture from pre cell phone to post cell phone. Seems like it really robbed us younger people of a more social, exciting, random, and enjoyable youth.

    The issue with the time differences is that we were still mostly discovering the things we take for granted today. There is more of us now, but fewer of us living to discover. We are slowing down to enjoy some of these discoveries which to rapidly advancing society feels like a negative. We're edging towards AI for a reason. Not everyone needs to be super intelligent like few are anymore, and it isn't feasible to expect expectations out of randomness. You cannot determine the outcome of the human perception. We all perceive things differently regardless of your education background, and grasps of concepts. These are limiting to our efficiencies as human beings because we must come to our own understandings and learning to grasp new concepts.

    Right. Kids don't change; technology changes and alters human interaction and behavior among all generations. I'm in my 30's and almost 17 years removed from high school. Yet, when I'm around people my age and OLDER, one of the biggest barriers to enjoyable, mutual dialogue is that folks would rather glue themselves to their phones than interact with the people in their presence. I was on a date with someone in their mid-40's, and they impolitely cut me off mid-sentence so that they could finish reading a Facebook post. This person was in high school in the 80's and early 90's. In fact, this year marks their 30th year out of high school. It's not a generational phenomenon, but a modern, multi-generational issue prompted by the existence of modern tech.

    That is correct but not on 100%. It depends a lot on the parents and how they raise their children. If a child is taught about morals and priorities and building habits, and manages to keep to them, I don't think they will be on the phone 24/7 and care that much about social media. Giving example with myself. I read actual books, workout, study, sometimes cook, hang out with friends, go on different classes that allow me to develop/improve mysel, do yoga and meditate. If I hadn't moved from the countryside, I would've walked for hours in the forests, helped my grandparents with the farm (trust me the work never ends) And the phone? Using it a few times to chat with my friends and check some of the people I'm following. Or I can use it to search info or sth. But there are people who literally don't stop staring at the screen. Even when we're out hanging out, someone is on the phone and there is barely communication from them 🤷

    I turned 13 in 1980. The 70's and 80's were a terrifying time to live as a kid, but there was better movies and music. Pop culture in general back then was just way better than now. So much more 'mystique' in those days, too. Not to mention everything was way more sincere in those days and way less obnoxious than today. That's the biggest difference.

    Right! I hate that I had to born in the 2000s. I wish I grew up in the 80s...
