(110) Northern Lights Resin Technique

In this video, I was experimenting to try and get the look of northern lights in resin and I love how this larger circular one turned out! I love that it looks like the northern lights in the night sky with stars. I hope you all enjoy watching and creating!

    I know this is an old post but I wanted to tell you my experience with stonecoat is it takes longer to cure so if you were to leave that mould alone for another 12 hours you would have had no problem removing it. I had the exact same issue with my circular coasters. But instead of trying to remove it when it didn't want to release, I left it alone for 12 hours and it came out no problem.

    Pretty! I love how these turned out. The resin is sticking to your molds because you used a torch. Use a heat gun on.low heat and move it rapidly over the resin. ❤

    The torch is the reason your resin stuck and ripped the mold, mold release wouldn't have fixed that. High heat opens the "pores" of silicon and allows resin to permanently adhere. Avoid torches at all costs when using silicon molds to avoid sticking, use alcohol in a spray bottle or a heat gun on low instead.

    That is total BS. Silicone molds have a extremely high heat tolerance as most can be placed in the over to bake clay at over 300°+ . I have never heard of a mold ripping due to heat. Only not caring for your molds. Putting mold release ALWAYS extends the life of your molds whether they need it or not one should always try to use some sort of lubricant

  • @maplemouse4674

    @maplemouse4674

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@charley408 you can say what you want really, i and several other resin crafters have had it happening for a long time now, it's why a lot of people have moved to heat guns instead of fire. The high ambient heat of an oven is a different kind of heat than the fast moving, gas fed flame of a torch. And yes, mold release always extends the life of your molds, I simply said it wouldn't have fixed the issue, that being the use of a torch. Again, nuances, the issue lies in the type of torch even, many people find success with barbeque lighters as it's a much gentler flame than that of a handheld torch, but prolonged exposure is still going to render the same results so if barbeque lighters are used it's usually very quickly so as to not put undue wear on the silicon. Most people, however, have just switched to craft heat guns, the gentle heat and movement has the same effect on bubbles with far less wear and tear on molds, or even a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol- a little trick picked up from soap makers to get rid of bubbles.

    Jenn, you are truly talented and I've followed you for several months and also went back and watched all of your videos... but there is one thing that is really driving off the deep end! It's your laugh. You laugh for absolutely no reason that I have been able to find. It seems like a nervous kind of thing, but after all this time, you really shouldn't be nervous. I'm not trying to act like a troll and saying things just to be mean. PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED. Of all of the channels dedicated to these types of art tutorials, I honestly think you have provided the best if not the most inspiration. This comment will probably get plenty of hateful responses from your fans, but I'll just have to live with them. You see, I'm a retired cop that says things the way they are. The only reason I have posted this is because I think you have the potential to take this, your obvious obsession to a whole different level. I can see this getting you guest spots on television and who know how far it can take you. But the laugh, which I must say is no where nearly as bad as it used to be, would be a stumbling block. Written without malice

    Hi lawfin60. I've had lots of people comment on my laugh. It's just the way I laugh and how I am. I enjoy creating and when I'm enjoying my craft I laugh. So I guess some might say it's for no reason or maybe it's just because I'm having fun creating. I try not to take what people write on the internet too seriously because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and many people choose to share their opinion freely online. Sometimes it does take me a step back when people share their opinions but I try to stay focused on just enjoying what I love to do and sharing that joy with others on KZread :) I greatly appreciate you following and watching my videos even though you don't like my laugh. I totally understand if you choose not to continue if it bothers you. It's just the way I laugh and as I continue to enjoy my work I'll probably continue to laugh every now and again. I appreciate that you see me going on television LOL Very true you never know what the future will hold :) I do hope you will keep watching and following :)
