I got into an argument with a friend who insists on getting his cats declawed. He compared it to neutering, which made me even madder. I wonder which he would prefer, a vasectomy or having all of his fingers removed to the first joint? Unbelievable!

The majority of the vets that wanted to keep declawing were jews, they see it as another revenue or source of income

Declawing cats is so cruel! They would suffer a traumatic experience, and then go on to be unable to climb properly or even defend themselves from atack. How would these perpetrators feel if someone much bigger and stronger than them physically restrained them, whilst cutting off the ends of all their fingers and toes? Cats are loving, feeling beings, created by God who need love, tender care and trust. These beautiful babes deserve only the best. If you are considering having a cat 'declawed' Think twice - would you like this done to you?

I would agree, declawing a cat is about the most cruel thing you can do... My Mom wanted to get her cat declawed, the vet gave her an estimate to do that. I advised her to never go back to that vet again... I explained what is involved in declawing, she finally settled on those nail caps...

Declawing is one of the worst ones. Not only that...but once affecting them physically and psychologically they would resort to biting and sometimes really hard which can cause huge medical issues.

my cat is like clock-work when it comes to her feeding times. She waits outside our bedroom door every morning til we get up, she demands her breakfast then she goes out and always returns for lunch around 1 pm, after lunch she has an afternoon nap on the sofa before venturing out again. She arrives back home around 4 to 5 pm for her tea. Then depending on her mood she will either stay home or go out again for a while arriving back for her evening meal. That is her daily feeding schedule that she always adheres too. She loves her "Dreamies" treats and knows how to get into the packet herself when we are not looking! 🐱

Sometimes, we have to have the claws removed for medical reasons, and she is part feral, so she is timid. One claw was completely pierced through a paw pad. We could not pick her up to cut the claws. She is indoors. They adapt quickly.

I have had 5 cats that where declawed. I never knew they cut off their first knuckle. I will never have it done again That being said several of those cats I had when I lived with my parents and they would never have a cat with claws in their home. Those cats lived long healthy lives as indoor cats. They where with our family for their whole lives and where cherished by our family. So I would never declaw another cat. But if declaring means someone will adopt a cat and give it a wonderful life. I would not support a law that prevented it. I know to many people that have outside cats that get killed by dogs or ran over by cars. Or the family gets tired of the cat and leave it behind when they move. So a little misery when they are very young is better then not being loved and cared for.

This was a helpful video which does a good job of reinforcing most of the information found in other cat related videos. As far as declawing, I still can't believe vets declaw cats in the US. I asked the receptionist at my vet's office about it on a recent visit and she said the vet does perform the procedure on a needed case-by-case basis. That response seemed evasive, but I didn't push it. I was more concerned with getting my cat home and out of the box.

Everything you mentioned in this video is true and the laughing thing just made me giggle because it’s so true! I happened to have laughed at a couple things my cats did, one was a missed jump and something else and I couldn’t stop laughing and they really get offended!!! Which is strange bc they shouldn’t be able to understand what a laugh is cos they don’t have it in their communication but they do understand it. And in fact if they fall ungraciously they do look around immediately to check if someone saw them and then walk away pretending nothing happened.

I have never had a cat raised by me have any issues with any of the things listed here, and that's speaking from over 20 years experience with Feline Care.

@@Kooky_Cats- Then why didn't *you* state clearly what so-called "declawing" is?! It is not simply _removing the claws_ (similar to our nails). It's the *_amputation_* of each *_toe_* up to its first *knuckle,* which causes *irreparable, painful, nerve damage* and *pain* when walking. It's an _ultimate betrayal,_ and cats whose toes have been partially amputated can experience a _personality change_ due to chronic nerve pain and numbness, and may *fear* and *distrust* their humans who they deem are responsible. Why weren't you _upfront_ about the *brutality* and *painful consequences* of this _unnecessary, deliberate _*_mutilation_*_ procedure,_ so clueless, potential _cat _*_guardians_* can be duly informed of what's involved, and the _physical, psychological_ and *_behavioural_*_ consequences_ - instead of glossing over it?? I'm also against *_tail docking/amputation_* done on *days-old puppies* (with or *without pain medication,* if the owner won't pay for it) and the *_cutting/full or partial amputation_* of their *ears,* also as puppies - which serves no purpose but to satisfy the _aesthetics_ of the human "guardian"/owner, and/or certification by various Kennel Clubs' guidelines for breeding "purebreds" and entrance to dog shows. Amputating the ears _removes the protection_ they provide from *_flies, debris, wind and noise._* All of these _unnecessary_ and _invasive_ amputations should be *illegal,* globally. Spay and neuter procedures are necessary for population control, and have some health benefits for cats, dogs and other domesticated animals.

@wholeshebang1 Yes, they can. They can will themselves, as can humans, to such a point that the brain says there isn't any use to anything, and, slowly, the difference body systems fail. I'll admit, my specialty was equine, but I don't see much difference in the species reaction. Also, amputation at the first knuckle is not the only method. In some places, they are declawed by pulling the nail completely out of the nail bed. It causes the same kind of damage, regardless.

@wholeshebang1 We "declaw" cats for our own advantage so that the cat may not hurt us. It is utterly shameful and disappointing to see such people. To do this is a grave offense. For any animal, small or large, has the right to live, THE cat does not, I repeat, does not belong to you or me. It is its own master. To put that into perspective, think that we humans, cannot do any work properly, are shamed by other people, looked at weirdly, and not being taken into the group. You shall understand. The same I for cats. They lose an ability, it was something they had when they were born, and you take it from them? Absolutely atrocious! This way of thinking is extremely disappointing. Have you seen any cat destroying trees or polluting the earth? Or ,say any creature for that matter. This is the reason why I consider humans to be less than any animals or reptiles. Sorry if this was rude, but it is the truth I wanted to say. Have a good day!

So-called "declawing" is not simply _removing the claws_ (similar to our finger- and toenails). It's the _unnecessary _*_amputation_* of each *_toe_* up to its *first knuckle,* which can cause *irreparable, painful, nerve damage* and sometimes *pain* when walking or standing. It's an _ultimate betrayal,_ and many cats whose toes have been _partially amputated_ can experience a _personality change_ due to *_chronic nerve pain_* and *_numbness,_* and may *fear* and *distrust* their humans who they deem are responsible. I, myself, have endured *3 decades* of _chronic _*_nerve pain_*_ and _*_numbness_* in _both hands,_ and have suffered severe bouts of *_depression, negativity, hopelessness_* and a change in my _mood_ and _personality_ since being injured (despite minimal pain meds and psychotherapy). Pain can _change you,_ regardless of species. "Declawing" is *brutal* and there are *painful, irreparable consequences* of this _unnecessary, deliberate _*_mutilation_*_ procedure._ Any potential _cat _*_guardians_* should be duly informed of what's involved, along with the _physical, psychological_ and *_behavioural_*_ consequences._ I'm also against *_tail docking/amputation_* done on *days-old puppies* (with or *without pain medication,* if the owner won't pay for it) and the *_cutting/full or partial amputation_* of their *ears,* also as puppies - which serves no purpose but to satisfy the _aesthetics_ of the human "guardian"/owner, and/or certification by various Kennel Clubs' guidelines for breeding "purebreds" and entrance to dog shows. Amputating the ears _removes the protection_ they provide from *_flies, debris, wind and noise._* Amputating dogs' *dew claws* is also an _unnecessary surgical procedure._ All of these _unnecessary_ and _invasive_ *amputations* should be *illegal,* globally. Spay and neuter procedures are necessary for population control, and have some health benefits for cats, dogs and other domesticated animals.
