11 reasons Rebel 300 is the best beginner bike ever!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Honda Rebel was a real pleasure to learn on, and continues to be as one progresses their riding skills. There's plenty of reasons to love the Rebel. Honda has done an impressive job making a modern Bobber that isn’t intimidating and fits a wide range of rider sizes. You won’t be looking to sell it anytime soon!
The Honda Rebel has a low seat height OF 27.2”. With this low seat height, virtually any rider will have a comfortable ride while being able to touch the ground flat footed with the right boots on. The Rebels' low seat height inspires confidence in beginner riders because they are able to have control of the bike and slow speeds or while stopped.
The Rebel's low weight of only 372 lbs. makes it so light and easy to maneuver when you’re stopped and/or have to back the bike up for some reason. For beginners safety, control and confidence are huge when learning to ride.
Another great feature of the bike is A.B.S. or, Anti-Lock Breaking System, is an electronic system that’s attached to your brakes. This is especially useful as a new rider because you may not have so much experience braking under different conditions.
The Rebel has ergonomic controls and natural riding position. The throttle is smooth the brakes and clutch are easy to reach and the signals switch feels great. These are all very important things for comfortability as well as safety to ANY rider.

Since the Rebel is a HONDA, this means it has great reliability so you can stick to riding and not repairing. Honda has a track record of being an excellent high quality, low maintenance, high performance ,key player in the motorcycle and the automobile world.
The Rebel is extremely low maintenance, all you have to do is adjust and lubricate the chain about every1000 kms, change the oil after about 4,000 kms and in the spring regardless of the kilometres. On top of that check the air pressure at least once a month. f you accept the fact you are going to turn into a bit of a grease monkey, the whole process gets a little bit easier.
The Rebel's brakes are not overly firm, but aggressive brakes are counterintuitive for a beginner bike. The Rebel is forgiving of new riders’ mistakes: If I misjudged a turn, grabbed too much front brake, stopped with the front wheel off-center, there was little consequence compared to a bigger, heavier and more powerful bike. The Honda Rebel remains merciful if you’re making errors, but still has enough power to get out of trouble, and enough that you won’t get bored as you progress with your riding skills.
The Rebel is great with cornering and makes it fun taking twisties, they’ll be calling you the peg scraper in no time!
Another perk is cheaper insurance, which leaves you with more money to spend on gas. Always shop around to find the best insurance rates because they do vary quite a bit from company to company.
I pay $45 per month full coverage for my Rebel through The Co-operators
Modern and badass while still being comfortable with an exhaust that carries a surprising rumble and a motor that packs a pleasant punch.
The rebel catches my eye in a way that no other bike really ever has its a classic, modern sexy package.

Just picked up my new Rebel 300 today and I am loving it! I have been riding for 44 years now, and have had everything from Aprilia to Yamaha, but now at 70 and with the usual aging pains and arthritis, this lightweight fun little gem is perfect for downsizing in the senior years. Still plenty fast enough and light and maneuverable. It is definitely not just for beginners although it is the perfect starter cruiser!

I like the newer Rebel designs, they look like they would be a great starter motorcycle. Funny thing, back in 2005 when I got my first motorcycle, the Honda Shadow 750cc models were considered as starter motorcycles. I bought a Honda Aero VT750 and still have it. One of the things I really like is the drive shaft, don't have to mess with chain maintenance. Have fun riding!!!

I just got back on a bike after 12 years of not riding. The thing around here is it’s very windy a lot of the time and a little 300cc bike is not safe in the Columbia River gorge. I bought a VTX 1300 and although I was a little intimidated by the weight at first I got over it really quick. I do love the way the newer Rebels look they’re just too small for me. I was looking, originally, at a Super Cub for commuting to and from work after I move. After some thoughtful advice from some friends more acclimated to two wheels (and a lot of teasing, taunting, and harassment for my preference of a scooter), I'm thinking something like the Rebel 300 is a better fit. For not a whole lot more, you get a lot more speed: I don't need that necessarily, but it's nice to know it can get up and go, and comfortably, too. Thanks for this review. Appreciate it!

There's a used one for sale near me, I'm highly considering as a new rider, I still need to get licensed, if anyone who's ridden this bike could give me a few pointers, I'd love it! My main concerns are highway riding, difference in climates, and if it's a good commuter bike. I want to be able to ride to work, I have 2 ways to work a highway and back roads, I'm comfortable with both so I don't mind but highway is obviously faster (but it's a very busy highway, I'd work my way up to it) As well as I'm from the new Jersey area, winters are cold and summers are hot and it gets rainy, is this a safe bike in conditions like this? As well as would this be a decent bike TOO commute to work? What's the downsides of something like this, and if I'm being honest I want to sell my car to replace with a bike (it's got 170k miles on it, trying to sell it before it's worthless) so I guess I have alot of questions but main is about seasonal riding, amazing video btw, thanks for any info that can be given!

I'm REALLY wanting one of these as my first real bike, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the 300 and the 500. Id like to hear what people on here think, should I go with the 300 or the 500? I dont want to get stuck with something that I will want to trade in after only a few months but I also dont want to bite off more then I can chew being a beginner rider and have something that is going to try and take off out from under me. I do have some experience riding everything from 4-wheelers to dirt bikes and the like but I have never rode an "actual" motorcycle before.

  • @CruisersCorner

    @CruisersCorner

There’s no wrong answer here, gradual progression of power really helped me to feel comfortable (I didn’t have experience prior with dirt bikes such as yourself, so I was starting my riding journey from complete scratch). I’d go for the 500, especially if you plan to go on the highway at all. The weight distribution and seat height is similar on both bikes with only a 44 pound difference that feels negligible. The 300 is a great bike, but it has limitations with power especially when cruising on the highway. We just picked up the 500, the parallel twin is really something, such a sweet bike in a little package - it’s just perfect for me. Still friendly and forgiving, but actually has longevity. We’ll have a first impressions video coming up soon for you guys!

@@CruisersCorner Thanks so much for replying. Honestly that really helped me, I was needing something from someone like yourself with little to no experience on a bike to help me decide. Because while I have experience on dirt bikes and 4wheelers and Im use to the those size engines which some aren't TOO far off from being a 300cc motor anyways, I was afraid that a 300 would be too boring for me after a while but at the same time I was afraid a 500 might be a little too much for someone just starting out. So I really appreciate your input, I think it's allowed me to settle on the 500. I do have one last question for you though. Since you say you just got a 500, are they geared high or low on take off? Basically, I don't have to worry about it trying to take off out from under me or do a wheely do I? Considering their relatively light weight, that was another thing that crossed my mind when it came to deciding on engine size and power.

Chris, you are raising a good point here. Like Ninja 300 or 650? Same for the rebel. Personally I believe the Rebel 500 is a more stable bike for a beginner than the 300. Well more cc doesn’t mean a more powerful bike in terms of handling by a beginner. The Rebel overall is a perfect beginner bike and the 500 will give you more time and fun to ride before you outgrow it and you might keep riding it for years. It is steadier on the highway than the 300 and has more punch without really being jumpy or crazy. If you will be going on the highway don’t hesitate take the 500. Just my personal opinion.

I agree with you Doug. The difference between a Honda Rebel 300 and a Honda Rebel 500 is the motor. Which means more power, an increase in weight, more expensive, but a better resale value. In the city, countryside, and commuting the Rebel 300 is perfect. My friend owns a 21. First bike excellent. The 500 is more expensive, financed the payments are not that bad. If your commute is mainly highway, a 500 is definitely a better choice. However a Honda Rebel 300 is still going to retain a great resale value.

@@Motolife84 You may want to consider a Honda 750 Shadow. I have a 2011 that I bought used. I paid 2,600 for it, because it had electrical issues. Easy job to fix. There are tons of them around. Pretty cheap. Low seat height. Pretty powerful, excellent on the highway. For a beginner bike, maybe not. I just got my motorcycle endorsement. I did buy one. No regrets.

Not really, although I understand why you say that but people like me were way to unlearned to ride a 500 , let me explain, I had not ridden in 40 years and I bought a 650 shadow and I found out quickly that it was way to heavy and powerful, now I cam do it but not then

Royal Enfield Meteor beats it, hands down. The seating position is MUCH more comfortable.
