I like having 2 identical tractors - 1 with turf tires and no front end loader and a belly mower, the other with industrial tires and a front end loader - so that the implements are interchangeable but 1 is mostly for mowing and the other is for everything else.

Dif lock made a big difference in the rear wheel days. Use to use it a lot when plowing in Virginia clay.

Good run down. I can’t imagine buying a loader without a decent bucket level indicator. This feature makes a noticeable difference saving frustration & increasing productivity / saving time.

Thanks, I learned something. I'm a geezer who has gotten by with really old tractors but last year bought a high time 4320 compact that the dealer wanted to get off his lot. Many things I like about it, some I don't. Love the turf tires, 4 WD, power reverser, and the great fuel economy of the diesel. Miss the self leveling bucket of my Case 530 (and its bulldozer construction). This year I had a problem with the rockshaft (stuck up) and took it all apart, replaced o-rings. Control valve ports and rate of drop needed cleaning, works ok now. Heavy work for a man of 80. Clutch and brake pedal hinges will corrode and freeze up if you leave it outside all the time as the previous (contractor) owner did. Lots of PB blaster cured that. Too much electronic crap on it, sleazy plastic gate guides on the controls, I cut away a lot of the plastic around the seat to make maintenance easier. My tractors don't get loaded onto a dealer truck. Time to till the garden.

Well, you outdid yourself this time. This little lifesaver clip should be required viewing for anybody buying a tractor, especially first time buyers. As a matter of fact, a lot of tractor sales people could stand to watch this & learn. There are so many ways a tractor can make a near impossible task so easy and effortless, just as there are so many ways that lack of experience, or a bit of carelessness can ruin the rest of your life. One of the features that you did not mention in this video is the QA on the three point hitch. Although it looks like many/most of your units have it installed. I was lucky when I bought my Kubota, the salesman and I talked about what I was going to use it for and he did like you and suggested the items that make life easier. That is the difference when the salesperson is taking care of his clients. If I hadn't already bought a tractor and didn't live so far away I would have tried to work with you. I am impressed enough with you that I would have been comfortable buying a tractor from nearly 1,300 miles away. Your videos show that you care about your customers and that you understand the idea of working smarter not harder. Thank you!

Great video!!!! Concerning your comments on the 4 wheel drive, everybody noticed how often it gets “stuck”. I have noticed that lifting the 2 front wheels (on the air) allows hydraulic fluid shifts and 4 wheel drive can now easily come off or on. Again great video!!!

Always enjoy your videos. Great info with a nice presentation. Don't use it often but locking diff has saved my butt a few times.

(I was pro diff-lock, LOL) Love the leveling rod also & switch between bucket & forks a lot so I have the leveler set for the bucket and use a red piece of electrical tape wrapped for the level position of the forks. Another great write up. Even though you stated that this video, “was for new owners”, I still learned a few things like the float function. I had a 2520 and now a 4410 and I thought this whole time that the linkage was just sloppy. I’m still amazed that Kubota has such excellent loader control but inconvenient rockshaft controls. I am still baffled why Deere doesn’t design better loader controls to combine curl and raise/functions. Anyway, great one, I wish I had watched this before I bought a tractor but I still have very few regrets.

Must have 4 wheel drive, a must in snow country. Power shift is a must also, I don’t have one but my next one will 4066R with cab will be my pick. All LED lighting will also easy to install. Leveler is great! . This guy is a straight shooter!! Great info.

I realize that I may be an outlier, but I really appreciated the option to get a pinned on bucket to save money. I live on 10 acres. I have a 200 yard long gravel driveway that I maintain with a 4' box blade, and a 100' x 100' garden that I got the tiller attachment for. I'll never need forks, and it never snows here. I can't even imagine a scenario where I would need some attachment other than my bucket on the front. I got the BX series Kubota with the quick detach loader... that I doubt I will ever take off. And, unless the virus really does cause an apocalypse, I will never sell my tractor. So saving money on a pinned on bucket was ideal for me. I would have to disagree from my perspective that a quick attach bucket is a must have. As an edit, I absolutely love my little tractor. It looks like a Tinkertoy from the side, but it definitely doesn't perform or feel like one when in the driver seat. I have nothing to compare to as I have never been on a Deere or other model, but it does everything I need and more.

I have a Kubota B3200 with 1/4 inching valve. It drives me nuts when grading, and I'll never buy another tractor with it. (First tractor owner and didn't know any better) There is no precision except eyeballing when using a box blade. I don't find it as an issue when tilling, as I want the tiller to go as deep as possible with every pass. Bush hogging isn't an issue for me either as I'm not looking for it to be perfect. Using a finish mower may be more of an issue. Extendable length 3 point link arms is another must have feature that makes it a lot easier to hookup implements if you don't have a quick hitch setup. This is a great video for someone shopping for their first tractor! Great job.

I know this video is old but I just saw it and went to Lube Shuttle…order placed ! And hopefully a Dirt Dog Land Plane soon!

I agree with everything but the bucket level indicator I’ve put thousands of hours on bigger ag tractors and payloaders and never had the need to look at it ive actually had them bend and break off when working in low hight ceilings, brush and trees because they stick out and get in the way. I could see how new operators could benefit from them at start until they gain experience but don’t think its a super necessary need just nice to have for new operators

I think it's this video where I specifically state this is geared towards new owners of tractors, specifically subcompact and compact tractors. Yes, I agree that experienced operators don't have as much of a need, still nice when bouncing between implements though.

Geared transmissions do Not wine under load. You also have one less expensive filter to change at service. Everyone should get a cordless power grease gun, in which ever cordless set they already have. They are leagues ahead of hand powered ones. Buy your grease in bulk at about $2.50 a tube,through tractor supply or online, compared to $6,$10,$15 they are charging out there now.

Another great video...Thanks for sharing. My 1025r has hydraulics for the mower deck. I use the joy stick to lower and raise the mower deck. Can you touch on that a little in your next video? Or when ever you can. I don't understand it much. I know I have it but never have used it yet. Mowing season is coming up. Thanks so much and I hope this makes sense. I don't have any tractors in stock with that setup right now, but you most likely have the independent hydraulic deck lift. If so, there's an extra hydraulic hose that you'll need to plug into one of the quick couplers used for the loader. It's so that your 3 point hitch can be controlled separately from the mower. If you have a bagger system on the back or a sprayer, then you might not want it going up and down at the same time as the deck.

Hi Courtney. Thanks for your videos- I can tell you care about what you do for your customers. John Deere has a quick PTO hitch system out now. Can you cover that? It’s supposed to make hooking up the PTO and un hooking a lot easier. I am not speaking of the standard quick hitch but rather the for the PTO only. Thanks..

I have had my 2025R less than a year and this video was still interesting. I wish the diff lock was as easy to find and use as it is on my X738. I find the diff locks particularly useful in sand on the beach.

Hi Jamie, Really down to personal preference or budget. I really enjoyed using both of them, both were easy to operate, easy to install, so I guess it's good to have options!

As far as I know, the rate of drop valve position does not affect the lift speed of the 3-point, it only controls the lowering speed for different weights of attachments.

Cheap bucket level indicator. Get some steel tubing and weld it to the bucket. Paint it. Stick a fiberglass snow driveway marker in the hole. If you cannot weld you can use u bolts and drill 4 holes. Do on both sides and you can tell both level and width of blade. Doesnt cost much and easier to watch those rods on the bucket than the indicator rod.

Lube shuttle: if you swap between greases how many pumps do you have to waste to clear the extension hose? Nice, but I don't see it replacing multiple grease guns for multiple purposes.

Cup holder. Must have a cup holder!

Totally depends on the damage done by the failure and if you're tackling labor yourself. Worse case is probably in the $2,500 ballpark

2wd tractors will teach you more than a 4wd but i prefer 4wd because you can kick it in and save ripping up sods in certain places

Incredible, back in the old days you couldn't even get a tractor without draft control. Now you didn't even mention it... Though it is true that you don't really need it unless you run some kind of a farm op that requires tilling.

i have a bx25d with a pin on bucket. im regretting it.wish i thought about it 3 years ago when i bought it. i have been struggling to find a decent price on a quick attach and pallet forks.

I have been looking I don't see it on your web site but I could use a position control knob when I search only finding the whole lever unit all I need is the stop

Question: How do you get the position control to float? For instance, I prefer float with a landscape rake. My 2305 has the quarter inching rocker shaft and tends to float with the land contour. However my 1026R has the position control and there is no movement, Can it be set to float?

It does float. Try lifting up your three point arms some time (with tractor off, parking brake on, etc). You can easily lift them by hand and they will drop back down when you let go.

Only thing i dont like about the lube shuttle and the only thing keeping me from buying is that i cant use my preferred schaffers grease in it

I have a KIOTI px153 power shuttle and it is awesome I hate hydro and I have a gear shift which I like. And I’m not an old timer. I’m a 20 yr and stick is better I feel I have better control

Really big loader tractors are usually 2wd with massive counter weight. Front axles are $$$ when you break them.

Does that John Deere stop stay in place? The one on some of the smaller Kabotas is a pain you can barely get your fingers around it and you tighten It still slips after getting hit a few times.

Extendable three point arms are so helps it only comes out like 5 inches but makes a huge difference

Kubota has an optional bucket level indicator for their loaders that are just like the 1025r.

It is a option and I had to get it from the dealership for my wife’s BX 23S. The dealership didn’t carry it in stock. If I remember correct it was in the $60.00 price range, but it just bolted on to the loader. TTWT talked about it in one of his after videos during his comparison between the BX and the Series 1. I remember thinking that he should have researched the BX more throughly and he wouldn’t have had to do the correction video. But I now realize that they are probably not sold that often and dealerships are not realizing that they are leaving money on the table by not offering them.

Yep, I got one on my BX23. And I like the fact that I can remove the loader in about 45 seconds and the backhoe in less than 2 minutes.

I was thinking that you might be able to add the optional Kubota level indicator to the BXs you sell as a value added feature and increase you profitability of those items. Just a thought.

One thing you did not discus. When I mow, I prefer to remove my loader, so I don't have to worry about hitting things while mowing, as I have a few tight spots to get into. How long does it take to remove the FEL on a series 1 Deere? I can remove my FEL on my BX2680 in about 30 seconds or less, and never leave the seat to do it. I do wish Kubota had the stops on the 3 point hitch and the mower lift was separate from the 3 point lift. This just shows that there is NO perfect tractor, that does everything the best.

It takes seconds to back away from the front loader on my 2019 JD 1025r TLB - I carefully compared the BX to the 1025r before selecting Green over Orange - I could have bought either for almost the exact price - Green just had too many advantages over orange, in my opinion - Especially if you are getting a backhoe...

About a year ago I picked up a L2501 Kubota with a 72" rear finish mower. My buddy has a BX with a belly mower and loader. We found that I can actually get into tighter spots than the BX just by backing the L2501 and getting good at swinging the RFM around. With a belly mower, if you have areas you have to back into to cut, a RFM will cut closer than a belly mower because you're not dealing with half the length of the tractor. It's also way easier to get under low trees with a RFM without getting stabbed, but if you do a lot of that you'll have a crick in your neck by the end. Always a tradeoff!

Can I buy a jd loader with a universal type attachment like a Kabota?

No discussion on tractor weight. Weight gives traction. What you are calling an Ag tire looks like a utility or construction tire. Ag tires are the well defined V-tread. Buying new, the dealer service is a go, no-go decision on buying.

If they want simplicity nothing is more simple than a hydrostatic unless you plan on ruining it than a gear drive is cheaper and easier to rebuild

John Deere quick attach is good but it allows John Deere to jack up the prices to fit their "quick attach''

Ive been looking into tractors recently into getting one, and evey manufacturer ive looked at JD, kubota, massey, mahindra, case, RK, etc. I havent seen one that dosnt come with a quick attach. And all except JD had the skid steer style quick attach.

Sorry, but that's not true. Those are going to be options in every other brand. The only manufacturer that offers it as standard with the loader is JD. I see hundreds, if not thousands, of tractors a day. I can rule out most Kubota's in about ten seconds from one side profile picture. I can tell if it's hydrostatic, if it's four wheel drive, and if it had a quick attach bucket. A vast majority of Kubota's don't meet one of these criteria. Even so, I turn down almost every tractor I see for other reasons even if they meet all three of these.

@@GoodWorksTractors I wonder if it's specific to where you are. JD is the only one I've seen in this area (N. Texas) that doesn't carry loaders with the skid steer quick attach. It's really hard to find a Mahindra, Kubota, Case, or New Holland loader without it, usually the ones that are around are really old, newer ones just don't seem to come that way. The JD dealers around here only push the JD branded quick attach system, which limits versatility to only green fel attachments.

Haggling over controls that function differently that will smooth out over time with experience are not in my opinion, critical. What I do find critical is what are your axles made of .are they robust and strong steel or are they made of aluminum. What are your fenders made of. My uncle had his hood wired in place because the plastic cracked and busted at the hinge points. What are the finders made of? OK if the parts are made in a variety of country’s by a variety of venders, who’s gonna make it should contracts change which often leads to pars issues down the road. These issues are what’s critical and can’t be fast talked away because the part you need is now obsolete, these are my concerns with the Deere. I really want and prefer the Deere, but I’m skiddish when asking my version of critical.

Yeah, but jd does that one position on there economy model. This is a feature that when you buy a Kubota, they don't tell you, and they Bragg about how superior they are to Deere when they cheaped out on a main feature on a tractor

I’d take the Kabota over the new John Deere’s nowadays. Better built tractor in my opinion.

Enjoy your videos. I must differ with you on a couple of items though, first being plastic body panels. I own an older model J.D. lawn tractor with plastic body parts and will never have another. Junk is all I can say! Second is the differential lock. Mine gets used quite often, no need to switch to 4 wheel when the diff. lock will do the job a lot easier. Thanks for making these informative videos, keep up the good work.
