This rig has great potential, but it's not quite to the point where it does what I want one to do. I mentioned this on a previous video you did on this rig, you MUST get the rear seat stays out of the cargo rack area! The stays kill the functionality of the cargo area. First, get the stays out of the way, then provide a box to go back there. Maybe a plastic tool box that can be purchased stock. A tough box with a lid would be great because a person can buy something at one store, then lock the box and go into another store without fear that their purchases will be stolen. If a heavy duty plastic box is used, you can eliminate the aluminum rack, and just install mounts for the box. My point is, you need to hype the CARGO aspect of this unit. Customers are free to not carry anything, but many people, such as myself, are looking at this as a potential way to bring home groceries, and other items. The second tweek that's needed is to get the derailleur cage completely out of danger of rocks. Hase invented a derailleur that has no jockey wheels on it. Chain take-up is handled by a mechanism further forward, and it does not hang down. They probably have a patent on that, so you'd need to research it to see if you would have to come up with a sidestep to their version. You have a overrunning sprag differential option already, so you have attended to the issue of wheel slip. Good job on that.

i agree putting that much metal and weight into a rear cargo rack but then throwing the seat stays through the middle and killing off alot of the space really kills it for me also if they added a 12v stepdown off the main battery that would allow owners to add in 12v accesories ranging from a 12v accesory port for those who want to add powered coolers for on the go but more importantly to easily be able to install 12v bicycle lighting kits

@@Sarge92 I believe that since this video, they've done another video showing that they are now offering a seat option for it that has no back stays at all. In order to handle the pressure from peddling the optional seat is more robust and heavier.

I've called Utah Trikes. I'll let them know I was very interested in buying this very build. When I asked you about the reverse they told me is not possible to put on a recombinant quad bike. When I brought the video they said that was just a mistake in the video, but this is the second video I have found that has showcased a reverse. I am now more confused than ever.

  • @UtahTrikesOnline

Sorry that it's so confusing! I hope I can explain the reason a little better. Since the videos we've posted on the eQuads, we have swapped the hub motors with the reverse function for the Bafang middrives. We found that the hub motors were not as reliable as we would have liked which is why we opted for the swap. Unfortunately, in swapping to the middrive the eQuads lost the reverse function. However, the middrive motors should last far longer. I hope this explanation helps!

You know my other comment was not a criticism of your videos. I just love speed . and every time I watch one of your videos the first thing I think is how fast does that thing go . I'm 72 years old and if it were possible on Social Security financially to purchase one my dream would be a quad 1000-watt Fat Tire full suspension internally geared front and rear capable of at least 40 miles per hour. oh and it would also have to batteries for long distance. And I would explore every back road anywhere near me.
