$1000 Small Form Gaming PC Build

Ғылым және технология

Anyone can build this cool looking $1000 small form factor mid range gaming PC. You can also make a similar spec PC build if you decide to use a bigger and cheaper case and if you buy a used GPU.

I included some alternatives as I couldn't find the same product on amazon us. And some prices are even lower than on amazon de, which is where I bought all of my components (except the GPU and PSU).
The PC looks cool and is quiet when idle, though you need to set fan curves for all the fans. But the temps are not cool as they go up to 50C in idle for both GPU and CPU. This can be addressed by using bigger fans, adjusting the fan orientation and position or by using fans where they were not intended to be placed - the case is small but highly and easily moddable.

Just goes to show that I don't build PCs often enough, but I will definitely remember this blunder as it's not a quick fix in small cases

Great build. Cable management was not best but it was because the cables were so stiff. Can you share your temps your are getting.

Thank you! I agree with the cable management, while having a modular power supply helps, having custom cables that are shorter, bendable and better routed along the frame could provide better temps. Doing custom cables is something that I consider doing, but I don't know if it's worth it for a mid-range build - this is probably an "end game" modification when it comes to the cost. As for the temperatures (in Celsius) - the fan curves in BIOS are set to the lowest fan speed at idle and up to 80% on both CPU and GPU since I want lower noise. The CPU and GPU both idle at 45-50 but the GPU hotspot is 10-20 degrees higher. The CPU in gaming goes to like 70 and GPU to 80 (hotspot gets to 105). I still need to remove one cover at the back for the GPU slot and I need to fix the thermal pads on the GPU as I didn't use the correct thickness pads. To get more air to the GPU one could raise the feet like 2cm, using a 140 fan is advised and also setting a better fan curve. I still have some modifications I'd like to do namely using 140 fans, if I get some cheap as the prices went way up. Or maybe even use a fan like the "silver stone shark force 160" on top (doubt it fits on the bottom with full size mATX but depends on the bottom connectors you need plugged), and then putting the 120 fans from the current top/bottom to the left side - the 120 fans just about squeeze between the frame and the PSU if done correctly. You're probably wondering "what does he mean by putting the fans to the side, he has an SSD there?" Well.. that's another thing I did but didn't show yet as it's part of a modification list. I mounted the SSD using the holes on the back of the case between the IO shield and the PSU.

How's your thermals for peak gpu and cpu temps?

I'm happy with them even though I have a standard fan configuration. I'll do some fan mods when I can. I did not set fan speeds over 70% so it's not too loud. I think GPU hotspot goes to 95c and normal temp is 15-20c lower than that, CPU I think doesn't go over 80c. I admit I didn't pay much attention to it yet, but if you skim over some of the gaming benchmarks I posted then you will see the temps with the default number of fans one can use. Edit: Looking at Ghost of Tsushima at very high preset at 1080p, CPu temp 66°C (52W) and GPU 75°C and gpu hotspot 93°C (138W). If you'd like to know anything else let me know!
