100. Tour of a Unique PIRATE SHIP to Take You ANYWHERE | Learning the Lines
The Hans Christian 33 and 41 are two of my all-time favorite boats because they are pure. They are true heavy-displacement cruising vessels and make no compromises. They were expertly designed, built, and laid out for a cruising couple or small family, and will take you ANYWHERE in comfort and safety. The charm of the old school woodwork, bronze fixtures, and "shippy" lines make this boat truly unique.
Hans Christians hold their value, and are frequently listed and sold for over 100,000 USD when they're in good shape. At only $59,900, this one needs a bit of work, but for the right buyer not afraid of some DIY, they could have a beautiful and valuable go-anywhere cruiser after a refit.

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way.

I grew up in Florida. I know that boat. ( I've seen her under sail.) HC's are GORGEOUS!!!
Jordan, You have great taste in boats. This is my all time favorite boat when equiped with the pullman birth!! This boat will take you anywhere you want to go......safely! I can't say how much I love these boats. This is the first one within my price range. I wish I was younger so I could take on a project like that! Someone should get that and sail the world!
Teak teak teak! No mahogany on HC's, not even deck core... all teak. Love everything about them. Yes, even the polishing and bright work.
My dad was a broker back in the day and he had mostly engine powered yachts- but one time he bought an HC and, Oh Man, was that the coolest boat we ever owned. I loved crawling around all over. The wood was sooooo beautiful
I love these old boats that look and feel like a shippy ship.
Hans Christian; most beautiful sailing vessels in the world!
What beautiful boat. I hope it's owners keep her well maintained. Thnx you guys
Wow, I love this one guys! Thank you so much for the boat tour videos, y'all do a great job with the details and Extra insights!
I could see you guys owning this boat. I could see myself owning it for that matter.
Love the Hans Christians for family or couple sailing. My fave boats too!
When my ship comes in I've got to buy me one of these . Love the boat !!!
wow .. for me, this was love at first sight
Ok, one last comment before I go work on a boat - much of that bronze you admire came from the battlefields of Southeast Asia and Korea. For decades, the locals searched battlefields for discarded relics of war. They policed the brass shell casings and sold it for scrap. A lot of that scrap ended up as deck and electrical components in Taiwanese boats.

Maybe but if you want to think of it like that. The bronze used in the ships you refer also used recycled bronze from other sources. Most metals you use get recycled and we’ve done that for thousands of years. Your gold necklace might have been the ring for a pharaoh
HC 38 was always one of my favs... the 33 is great because of that mid ship berth.. love all of the HC'S

The pulman berth is a cool feature. My brother Jon loves it. Have you checked out his KZread channel SV Prism?
These are such a solidly built boat. Great price on this one. Fantastic tour - Thank you :)
Absolutely fascinated with the classic woodwork. Wish I lived closer . I could see my wife and I making an offer. Best wishes to whomever takes on this fun and exciting project !
Love that Pullman berth! Really gorgeous boat and so well-crafted.
Im in love with this boat
You hipsters are lovin' that shipster!! 😄⛵️
All HC boats are beautiful!
She is one beautiful boat! The just ooze offshore performance. From the protected canoe stern to the well design functional interior.
I loved this boat!
Really beautiful, even the creaking of old mahogany is really inviting.
I wish this was three years from now!!!!! Fabulous boat.
Love all that tile work.
Thanks for another great tour of a classic design!
This boat needs a lot of love
That would be beautiful with a lot of brite work and a refit. Very beautiful.

I would love to have something like that with a shoal draft but all the really cool and well laid out boats are over 5’ draft.
It's a nice shipy ship... I really love those old style butterfly hatches oh, and all the bronze switch I would polish up if it was mine
Loving these videos guy!!
Good layout for a small monohull. Practical and functional. Double Ender rock and roller ..good video thanks
beautiful craft in every way thats a sail
Absolutely beautiful. I love older wooden boats like this, yeah, it's more maintenance than a steel or fiberglass hull, but those don't have the charm and beauty of wood. She's a very classy, classic vessel. If my lottery ticket hits, she's mine.

Well presented vid guys. Hope you're being paid for these, because you do them very, very well.
Not date ing myself but I remember when they came out -so cool old school
My dream boat!
God I love that boat. (very shipy ship ;)) thanks for the tour guys
The Interior looks a lot more roomier than I thought. Nice Boat!
I LOVE IT! SIGN ME UP!
This boat is really really cool ...for sure
Good value for this vessel. Would sell immediately on the West Coast.
What a beautiful sailboat ⛵
There’s something to be said for ambiance. Imagine a 22 day crossing or living in it docked somewhere(Scandinavia?)Good vibes and classic as it gets with expert craftsmanship. Love it
10 seconds, I already want it !
Surely, Jordan must have a birthday coming up? Gonna need one big roll of gift wrap though!
Hans Christian's including the 43 are 3 boats on my short list. Great review. Great videos keep it up.
Great video and a beautiful boat.
I can see why this is your favorite. With a little TLC that would be a classy beautiful boat with a practical layout.
They are beautiful boats and need a lot of constant upkeep to keep them that way. A Centennial or Roberts Spray steel hull is my dream machine.
I have always loved Hans Christian yachts and would love to own one. Been onboard a few and very similar to the Danish Colon Archer boats. I love the main berth being just far of midships. A very Shipy ship as Randy rightly says. Cheers guys. Andy UK
Great boat, is lovely sail with it when the wind is from 15 until 40 or up kn... Im owner of westsail32 and Im very happy with it...now I living on in the med...before I was owner of Westwind35,, another wonderfull Made in taywan, and also had a Nicholson39,she was the faster but, in the big sea,the other 2 is much more sweetty. Have fair wind nice guys, and sorry for my bad english.
Lovely boat.
Love your boat tours my wife and I are looking for a affordable boat for cruising. Nice sailboat and priced right. May the Sun be at your back and stiff breeze to fill your sails. Much Peace and Love from North East Texas.

They are fantastic and reliable boats.
That is a very cool looking boat. I like the outside sleek design, it makes it look like it could go fast just sitting there. The design also makes it look like you could button down the hatch and survive a pretty big storm. I don’t know how much this boat would rock back and forth but it seems like a person would need to buy a catamaran to get the least amount of rocking and tossing back and forth. I don’t know anything about sailboats and not to be cruel but wood squeaks whether it has varnish or in a raw state. I used to build custom houses and some people would want their stairs carpeted and after the house starts to settle sometimes the stairs start squeaking, when carpeted you can drive 12 or 16 penny finish nails through the carpet and set them with a nail set, the carpet hides the finished nail and the nails keep the stairs from squeaking. I can see why you love that boat, it is a beautiful design and has a lot of potential. P.S. On the humorous/serious side, I am glad the Boogie Man or Captain Hook did not get ya’ll on that last spooky old boat. LOL Thank you two so much for the videos, it is so nice for ya’ll to show what is available and the possibilities. Thanks. 👍🙏✌️😎

Great boat, nautical, nice layout. Just a little smaller than needed fo me....Thanks
"Shippy Ship" LOL...ie Salty Look, I love those sailboats!
I've loved Hans Christian boats every since I saw my first one at the Miami boat show 20 some odd years ago. Wanted one right up until the first time I had to redo the brightwork on my boat. Every since then I look at a boat like that and get a twitch in my neck.
Cool man!
Cool boat a lot of potential
One of my favourite yachts, very very good sea boat and very safe in all weather, due to there weight there slow in light winds but amazing sea keeping qualities in 50knot winds and 5 meter seas, this yacht will guarantee you and your families safety. If you were to buy a similar yacht new today you'd be talking $500 to $700K, another good point is these yachts will still be around in 40 years with a little maintenance.
love it,love it, LOOOOVVEE IT
Cool boat.
WOW !
I owned an HC 38 for 10 years, had a lot of issues with quality. Bowsprit made of low grade mahogany/Luan rotted out. Rudder core became totally waterlogged, had to replace rudder. Low grade stainless tankage corroded and leaked. Cockpit steering box cover plywood rotted out, had to replace. Plywood throughout boat delaminated due to freshwater intrusion from poor fastenings, had to tear up and replace. Rigging corroded, again due to inferior stainless. Beautiful boat to look at but builder cut corners on too many details. But did sell it for just a little less than original purchase price. Ate all the repair costs. Would not buy another without very, very thorough survey by a real expert.

@Stephen Livers Boat was neglected when I bought it. Bad quality materials are not caused by neglect, rather by the builder cutting corners with quality as I stated. I actually owned one so I know what I'm talking about. No excuse for bad quality.
That is such a nice boat even with the teak on deck looking as tired as it does if i had the money id snatch it up and make it my retirement plan.
Lovely boat with the worst of the teak decks removed. The old school small cotpit and no AC(?) makes it a limited market but if you are not stuck on cruising only in dummy weather this could be a wonderful yacht to own. Cheers Warren
I really like that boat
Great blue water cruising sailboat and it’s double ended sailing vessel! 😀⛵️😘 Mike from Missouri

Hi do you know what issue it had?
Cute as a button , "Shippy Ship".
The cockpit is the size of a bucket... other than that, a very cool boat...
Lines of Norwegian Pilot cutter, like a vessel I was sailing aboard early 60's called 'Gullmarn' which sailed twice around world. This is genuine seaboat.
“Snippy Ship”- that’s a very technical term !

Shippy Ship is the cousin of Boaty McBoatface.
HC’s are very lovely boats! Especially the 41, and for a couple have an excellent layout imo. All that bright work and bronze needs attention ( shame to see it let go... ) but she will look a picture if you put some work into it. They are excellent blue water boats and a solid quality build. Not sure about engine condition etc etc etc but assuming all that’s acceptable, fix it up a bit and you will have a real “head turner” which will take you anywhere in safety and comfort. Don’t pass this one up if there’s no nasties to contend with. Cheers
An old boat is the best boat.
Pulpit over the bowsprit
Awesome ...how much to refit? My kind of boat!
buy it!!
The topside brightwork needs some attention, but the rest of the boat looks ready to go
I Love the Hans Christian walkaround... I think Randy's HEAD is too big for small boats !!! lol
A ship shape shippy shape! Say that one ten times fast!!!
