100+ Species Challenge: Unforgettable Birding Expedition on Global Big Day!
A "Big Day" in birding is an attempt at seeing as many species as possible in a single 24 hour period. On an annual event known as "The Global Big Day," birders are encouraged to go out and try their hand at finding birds and adding their sightings to eBird. On this birding holiday of sorts, Ryan participated in the Global Big Day with the goal of seeing over 100 species.

This was filmed on Global Big Day 2022!
The Birds, 🐝 Bees, Trees & wild animals, bring peace and love to me...don't harm them precious and sacred creatures ❤
Excellent!
Your channel is growing rapidly! Keep up the content!
I hit 98 on the global big day at Bombay Hook NWR (Delaware). I just couldn't pull out two more. You guys should really come bird SE PA, and the DE and NJ shore. Such a variety of habitats and birds.
Beautiful sounds and sites in the sky relaxing view peace and calm
What an amazing day for you! I can't believe how many species you got! Great video and congratulations.
How lucky for you! I hit 70 on Global Big Day in central Alberta.
Muchas gracias.
BEAUTIFUL sharing ❤️👌👌 full saport 🙏🙏
Quite the tally Ryan nice 🐦
this was easily one of your best videos, the only thing missing was Derek lol! Great video Ryan 102 species is amazing for a single day.
I love that you have all those “songs” in your head.
Congrats on the Big Day and your Lifer Connecticut Warbler. That's my nemesis bird and one of just a couple US warblers I have yet to see. Someday, hopefully, the birding gods will deem me worthy!

What are the other warblers you still need?

@@BadgerlandBirding Besides Connecticut, warblers on the ABA checklist that I still need are Swainson's, Lucy's, Crescent-chested, Gray-crowned Yellowthroat, Fan-tailed, and Slate-throated Redstart.

We had 100 species at Riveredge on our Birdathon May 13th and banded 18 warbler species. So yeah this year has been good there.
Just noticed you guys broke 20k subs. Congrats!

Thank you!
102 species is a great number for that day.
Great show !! Keep em coming !!!
Over 100 species seems like a pretty big day to me! 200 is mind blowing.
Really great day!! And so many bird species - how even do you keep all the different warblers straight, though? They're so similar x.x I missed the Big Day itself - BUT! We discovered an entire group of Killdeer right outside the clinic where my husband goes for dialysis. It's a spot we have gotten to know well over the last couple years but we'd never seen the Killdeer before, and it took us a bit to identify them. The first time was indeed on the Big Day - but we were driving home after picking hubby up from his session. So, all I could do was yelp "LOOK LOOK LOOK!" Hehe, and we knew it was some kind of shorebird but that was about it, that first moment. It was really cool to see them, even if they're considered common. It's really cool to think that a little family is maybe even nesting in the ditches just outside the clinic.
Congratulations on the Connecticut warbler and on getting so many species in a single day! That’s awesome 👏
I am going to be in Milwaukee the latter half of August for a weekend and will have a half-day to bird around. Thanks for all the great information! Really enjoy the channel.
Great & amazing Birding Adventure!
Nice job guys! I have some resident Red Cockaded Woodpeckers on my land and I’m hoping one may hand feed. They’re already eating bark butter near where I hand feed my birds. 🐦🐦🙏🙏
As much as I love birding down here in Florida, I definitely miss the warblers of Michigan. Seeing them only for a few weeks during Migration just isn't the same
Big Congrats Ryan on achieving your 100 Species goal😀👍 To find and actually see so many warblers is just fantastic. Great job on the Connecticut Warbler 😊 i live in Connecticut and so far I've seen the Magnolia Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, and American Redstart. I've heard the Yellow Warbler and Northern Parula but didn't get to see them. Keep up the great birding videos 😄
Great video! Curious about that green jay. Did you really see that in Wisconsin? If so, it was super far north for its range.

What Green Jay?
I wasn't able to get out that day, but I plan to clear my entire schedule next year!
2:19 singing
I hate that I was forced to miss this… though at least I completed my final assignment. Going to go take some pictures of some nightingales. My year list is currently only 140 so I’ve got to try and get to at least 180 by the end of next month. Going abroad so I’ll get golden orioles, S-T treecreepers, B redstarts, Zitting cisticolas, black kites, cirl buntings which should bump of the total considerably. Though I still need to get some of the more common British species.
Are a lot of these warblers still present? I will be in Milwaukee this weekend.
A great video your clips are nice and clear. Unbelievable luck on the nightjar. I've only ever heard one once and couldn't find it. Interesting that they sit parallel to a branch instead of perpendicular, maybe something to do with their claw orientation.
I went to maggee marsh and saw a morning warbler
I got 112 species on my big day in Colorado this year
Hi. i really like your channel. i have learned many new things about birds. ill receive an old pair of Japanese made 9x binoculars this weekend. I'm from the north part of Chicago.
