From what i have heard and read, kick pays signing bonus + hourly wage on almost every contract. So i heard speculations and estimations of X getting 10-20 mil signing bonus plus 10k dollars per hour streamed. With his streaming hours on twitch in the last 2 years, that would end you up at pretty much exactly 70 mil. Then he gets 30 extra if he runs some event deliverables.

"the earlier you reach 100k the more you get penalized" is such a disingeniious view, it assumes that the alternative would be permanent 70/30, which wouldnt be the case regardless. its like hitting a new tax bracket and complaining. imagine actually complaining about earning 100k too fast...

  • @Juhz0r

Depends on the size of those 100 streamers. Streamers moving to other platforms tend to lose a good chunk of their viewer base, so smaller or medium size streamers might lose their viewership entirety. Maybe if you focused on moving certain orbits of streamers in particular, more viewers would carry over. This is all an uneducated gut feeling.

A shame that they didn't raise the fact that if you are a more recent streamer that you never even got the option to have a 50/50 split so only the big & old players get the benefit of being 70/30 while if you are a newer streamer whos on a default contract you already are at 50/50 and nothing will change (and for 2.5% it will actually be a boost in money since they might go from 50/50 to 70/30).

  • @keton62678

Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking lol. Shouldn't the point be that Twitch takes too much in general. Not that "Twitch is suddenly taking 20% after you make 100K". I'm sure many people are super happy to get an additional 20% up to 100K (seeing as the majority of streamers never reach 100K). It sounds to me like streamers have made some small progress in getting more of their sub money, they should be celebrating that some are getting a bit more, and then should be talking about how the next step is to get more people that additional 20%, and of course after that is pushing for even better. As it is Cohh sounds super tone deaf to me, complaining about suddenly getting 20% taken, when most don't even get the temporary 20% to begin with.

Okay, I have to say, it is incredibly counterproductive and misrepresenting to put in the timestamps "Reddit boycott fails" and then only barely explain what actually happened. Cohh summarized it well, but only a part of the situation. Sure, we all know none of the 3 people hosting are like journalists or do any real research beyond the cliff notes on the headlines, but sometimes dismissing the details can hurt important causes. Yes, some subreddits have returned because of the threats. Because spaz was insisting that subreddits belong to the users and nit mods. So a whole lot of subs polled their users on what to do next and overwhelmingly the answers the to continue protesting in another way. Some subs are now just pictures of John Oliver. Some subs are flagged NSFW to deny ad revenue. Some locked new submission. So to call it a fail is incorrect. Since the uprising is still ongoing.

Admittedly i dont know the numbers of the reddit issue, but decentralized boycotts are generally ineffective. That goes for most product boycotts and various individualized "vote with your wallet" stuff. Sooner people are aware of this the sooner they can organize.

I will never understand why Amazon doesn't intergrade Twitch like Amazon Videos is on the website. They have livestreams on the Amazon platform but not Twitch which could easily pass QVC(a infomercial channel 24/7 ads) Streamer naturally talks about a product the consumer can easily click a link(insert method) to the Amazon product page. Hell Amazon could have come out with a non intrusive screen product tracking ai bot/system. Like how YT/Twitch has systems scan for illegal activities.

Yep, Cohh doesn't get it for sure. His pay raise comparison doesn't makes sense cause Twitch seemingly can't afford a 70/30 for everyone if they want to become profitable. Twitch doesn't need to compete with Kick's contracts if they want to be the sustainable and profitable service like Twitch's CEO has said, and that strategy makes a lot of sense for Amazon when you consider that Amazon makes a lot of money on Kick and other companies that use AWS.
