Loved the video and the memories it brought back. My grandfather taught me to sail on the Choptank River not all that far from Tilghman Island. Taught me the basics using a small dingy (including how to right it after poor seamanship caused a capsize) and I eventually graduated to his larger 38ft sailboat. There is nothing like the feeling, the sounds, and the freedom of moving with the wind. Thanks for sharing.

I have to say I came upon your channel at the point where your driveway was flooded out and I don't really know much about your past so I certainly did not make you out for a sailor but you certainly handled that rig quite well. I have been across the Chesapeake in a small powerboat back in the 70's during the day and spotting the buoys was quite a chore since they were placed about on the horizon. Seeing one at night that low on the water has to be a feat in itself. It's funny because I was out and about yesterday and I saw the exact same car you guys were in and I was wondering if it was you. I doubt it since I am in NJ. Looks like a wonderful trip and glad to see you are enjoying yourselves.

It's only my 3rs season sailing so I've never sailed though the night. I have motored through the night when I owned a cabin cruiser. It's a little surreal how peaceful the bay is at night.

Wouldn't standing four hour watches give you both a more relaxed passage, instead of being disturbed every twenty minutes? A hand on the tiller will avoid your concerns about battery capacity. Whatever you do I wish you fair winds.
