Thank you for letting us into your family through this video. Thoroughly enjoying the help of your daughter. What a joy that brings to a father that can’t be explained. This was great to see your life at night just being a close family singing as one. I could go on and on but I will end by saying that I really enjoy your videos. Thank you again!

The first video I watched from you was about carving a spoon. Now, I am so in love with the truth that comes from all of you. The lifestyle, the family story, the smiles, the hard work, the honesty. Thanks so much for sharing all of this. Inspiring. I sadly had to sell the piece of land I had in southern chilean patagonia. A place I know very well and love. I will find something new somewhere. My kids and I are learning so much through wood carving, gardening, being outside and sharing learning. Big hug for all of you!

Hi, You have made my day! I also have a (Model AC) 1917 "Home Comfort" kitchen wood cook stove. I do have the same veralux finish on most of the stove. I do have quite a lot of chrome on mine. Also my oven door is a basic white enamel along with the lower warming oven. You are going to love your stove. These Home Comforts were notorious for their fuel economy. Best of luck to you guys, you've earned what that stove will give back to you for a lifetime.

Many thanks for sharing this video. It took me back about 65 years to memories of the wood stove in my great grandmother's kitchen and to memories of learning to work on the farm by "helping out" as a young child. As hard as the work was, as cold or hot or wet or messy or smelly as it got, I loved every minute of it. I learned about the nature of physical labor, the value of strong family and good neighbors, respect for one's elders, and the importance of "making do" with what you had. I learned the connection between working and eating. I learned to appreciate water. I learned respect for other creatures. I learned that one can, indeed, hear corn growing. I learned the importance of manure and soil and plants. I learned that we are not simply on this Earth but that we are of this Earth. I learned that toughness was not about fighting other people but about facing life's challenges and never giving up. I learned to never, ever look down on other folks. Finally, I learned what cinnamon rolls smell and taste like fresh from a the oven of a wood stove. And when I saw the wood stove in your kitchen, I smelled warm butter, caramelized brown sugar, and cinnamon. Perfume of the gods! My mouth watered. These have been lifelong lessons and memories for a small-town kid who spent every minute he could on Grandma's farm. I have over twenty two years of formal schooling, but I have always considered what I learned on that dirt-poor farm to be my most important education. This video brought back a lot of those memories, for which I thank you all. Regards, respects, and best wishes.

Great stove , makes for good food. We heat a 2.200 square ft. house 2 story with 2 wood/ coal stoves and this year we opened up the kitchen to a mud room, installed a large 90 year old cook stove making the kitchen a larger and warmer place to spend time cooking and spending time with friends and family..? We cut wood on outings when camping and fishing during the summer months and splitting on spare time . Hauling coal out of an old grain and feed store long gone helps with those real cold times. Our heating bill is 0 $ ..? Garage/ shop heated by wood /coal stove insulation is the key to a cozy warm home..? This will be our 14th year..? Hunting late season elk fills the freezer/ canning fruit and veggies and keeping other veggies in the cellar sure helps on grocery bills..?

I thought that stove looked familiar, when you were moving it, thought it had a warming top. We had one in our old farm, no running water, no electricity, only heated by that stove. Our cats loved those fold out doors. I just got a 700lb Woodstock Soapstone Ideal. Bolted onto a pallet 150 feet from house, flat muddy driveway.

It is with great pleasure I watch your videos, thank you for letting me see. When i grew up in the 1960'ties and 70'ties, we still lived of the land to a large extent. I grew up on the island Senja in northern part of Norway. In the old days people at the coast where called fishermanfarmers. My dad and uncles all started as fishermen. That was what gave them money, and well food too of course. The little farming they did was for food for the family, food, leather, wool and so forth. I remember my dad installed what we called a "water closet", water toilet. Before that we had an outhouse, and sat there reading the newspapers, before rolling and crushing the paper so it should not be too uncomfortable. Fun to remember back to those days. Electric stove we had, but the wood one was still sitting a few feet away, ready in case the power went out. A lot of jam, a lot of salted and dried mutton and other foods. That was the common way of preserving. Wonderful cooking, the old fashioned way. And it worked, and was no more complicated than it is today. Then I move to California, (my wife brought me here), and my mother in law was sitting watching me whipping up some cream. She had only been used to whipped cream in cans. And my wife's two kids got hooked on home made hand whipped cream, a little sugar in it, and a little vanilla. My wife looked at me, see, now you have ruined my kids. Now spray cream is not good enough. And why should it be ? I so miss that life, less things to worry about, and everything worked. And we had control of things. By the way, I really love your little 8N tractor. Every human being should have a tractor, it should be in the constitution.

Hey folks, isn't it simply lovely to see this beautiful family, living joy, happiness, and simplicity? What exactly went wrong with sick modern society? Where did we f**k up? This is what life should be like. Maybe this gentleman was a computer analyst in a previous life (I very much doubt it), but he made the right choice. Thank you for your "moderately" efficient ideas. I loved your group celebration at the end. The whole point of moving the stove. I'm going to try to move a Triplex grate range from a garden gate, into the boot of an estate car, unload it, take it down a 100m narrow grass path with fences, into 50m of slabs with a right angle bend through my allotment and over the step and into my packed shed! Then we'll have a ceile and bake a sourdough loaf.
