One of my good friends, ended up in jail in his teens. We 40 now and he’s been in and out of jail for the last 20+ years. I caught up with him over 10 years ago, I could see he didn’t like the freedom he had and knew he was gunna end up back inside and he did and still there today. Gets out and the longest he’s lasted is 2 months. We can’t help him until he’s ready.

Sounds like he needs to be old, frail and lose the function of his limbs. Some people just have that evil in them and can't help themselves.
Thank you Wattie and family for sharing this fascinating journey. So much emotion So much Love May the force be with you
Kia kaha Wattie. I am a whanaunga from Morrinsville. Seeing you at Nana Maggie's grave and looking at some of the old photos, I saw whānau that I knew. Nana Cowboy, Uncle Smokey. I haven't seen Aunty Loretta in a while. It was good to see your sister Vera. It's been years. Keep strong, cousin. You've got Mike there to support you, but most importantly, your whānau. Take care and God Bless ❤
Thats what i say when i hug my oldest bro 😭 its like im hugging my dad 😢 love this for Wattie and his whanau. Wishing them all the best 🙏
All the very Best Wattie for your future. Megan is my sister and her and Mike are amazing people with huge capacity to Love and support you. Keep doing one small healing step at a time and it will add up. God bless you ♥️

Some people need to realise that their own perspective isn’t the only perspective, to those that are looking down at him and his journey obviously you were raised with a silver spoon, and yeah he ain’t perfect but who isn’t, at least he learned from his mistakes and atoned for his ways and understands himself and dug deep to find the root of what made him who he is today. Big ups to the man for being real, mad respect. One Love 🖤☝🏾

Wow! This is so sad but also uplifting knowing Wattie is trying to change despite what he has been through. So nice that he is reconnecting with his whanau. The abusers ruin lives just for their self gratification; the damage lasts for a lifetime. Kia Kaha Wattie, stay free.

@jaspermartini4830 he's done nothing positive though lol. All he's done is come out of jail, and go back again. Then before we know it he'll be collecting the pension, which he had absolutely no hand in contributing to. An easy life. (Also, is there any proof of his stories of abuse?)
Stay strong Wattie, dont go back to the life man, your family needs you, and your kids need the role model that you never had brother, time for you to make good memories to get rid of the bad ones my friend. From Britain, stay safe and keep smiling 🫶

So feel for Wattie and those who have not had the lives they deserved as a human being. A lot of the generations were not brought up in the expression of love as we weren't. Our parents did not know. And those who suffered also from sexual abuse, it was even harder. I may not have been the best mother but my kids knew that they were loved, hugged, and told that the were. Never allowed name calling in our family. We can just do our best and show our love, even if it is tough love at times. All the best Mr Wattie ❤
Love to this man and his whanau

Such a sad story brother, but love that fact you are making changes,Chur bro 🤘🤘
I am so glad that i got to watch Wattie's story. Wattie, you may not realize it, but your story will no doubt reach and touch a lot of people who have gone through similar childhood upbringing or those people that have had a good childhood; this story will give them a better appreciation/understanding towards others. I can see and hear that Wattie has a good heart and a great understanding about life. Wattie has so much to give and help others who are struggling with life on the outside. We need more men like you, to help our people in NZ. Mike Lloyd from the Te Pa organization, what a great man who goes out of his way to help everyone. Wattie all your whanau, are cool people. They are willing to unite and support each other. You can see the genuine aroha for one another. *To help better our mindset, is to rethink that our past life is not our future, the abuse whether it is(sexual, physical violence etc) that engulfed our bodies for many years and caused us to enrage our minds with anger and hatered towards others, will no longer entangle our hearts, because it is not ours to carry with us or to keep. Everyone one deserves to be truly happy, free and loved. Wattie, I truly wish you all the best in your future. Kia Kaha
All the best brother never too late

I feel for this man because he seems genuine and a nice man underneath it all. I'm from the other side of society, privileged u might say, but my parents drummed into me education. I feel like this man is a victim of bad parenting, no emphasis on education and comon decency. Am I wrong?

So, what he basically said was, all gang members join up because they need a sense of belonging, as they are in pain, not resolving and letting go of childhood pain. I wish him all the best and also for all gang members to step back and claim their true destiny...be productive and caring citizens. Be the person you dreamt of becoming when a little child....be the change for our future.
Hi where you located plz and do you guys need volunteers
It took me, an English migrant, many years to learn not to judge Māori by the way they looked, but by the way they acted. And I invariably found a good person hidden behind the rough exterior.

Uphold your mana brother. You are a MASTER of defining YOURSELF. I hope for the best, expect the worst, and pray for a miracle 🙏 You deserve to live your best life happy, nothing less!!! Be free of those demons that weigh on your shoulders. They are not yours to carry! Mike at Te Pā, I love your work, a true blessing in disguise, the definition of LOVE, and doing things wholeheartedly without expectations!!! I can not thank you enough on behalf of Aotearoa Be free, my people. We are not to be caged like animals. We are misunderstood, and no one knows your story, but we can definitely teach our upcoming rangatahi how to apply themselves like kings and queens and be the best versions of themselves for THEMSELVES 👑🦋👑
Prayers for Wattie and whanau going forward🙏 As a leader he'll need to bear the burden of responsibility of leadership which is not easy for many people. But, I say to him, 'go up brother.' It won't be easy at first, but there's no other way. Join a supportive prayer group. A Catholic Traditional Latin Mass prayer group is good, if one is near by. Prayer is important in leadership. It binds the family together in the Fatherly love of God in Jesus Christ, the saviour of humanity. Go on up, from there. God love you brother. 🙏🙏🙏
