$100 BROKEN PS5 From a Viewer - But Can I Fix It?!

Ғылым және технология

$100 BROKEN PS5 From a Viewer - But Can I Fix It?! A viewer named Brandon sold this to me because it has a broken fan connector and shuts down right after start-up. I wondered if liquid metal issues were the cause of it shutting down but had to fix the fan connector first.

After watching your videos I've used these methods to fix things I've ran across that were broken. I actually started fixing the forklift displays by taking one we had repaired by a company and found what display they used, then tracked it down on my own. $25 and a half hour of my time saves us a couple hundred dollars each!

Did that "run over" PS5 have an organ donor card? Good to know that all those useable still good parts are getting a new life. Seeing the liquid metal in a blob that was off to one side sure looks like the past owner had the device in the upright position. Being that the word is out about PS5's having liquid metal issues leaking onto the mother board when left in the vertical position, I'd keep it in the horizontal side as much as possible. Good Show!!

With such a fragile fan connector (after repair) i would personally snip the fan cable in half and add a connector in the middle, so the one on actual board can stay plugged in. That way when you need to clean it in the future you don't risk damaging it again.

The short 1-year warranty of consoles is one of the main reasons that drive me away from them and made me prefer self-built desktop PCs for gaming, where most parts have at least 3-year warranties. Seriously, one year warranty is BS for any electronics product which has thousands of parts that can (and will) fail. Anyway, sorry for the rant and congratulations on another successful fix, that repair was quite a deal even you take labour costs in account.

@@gaborszabo7765 I'd much rather do a preventative maintenance to it versus waiting for it to break and then find out it can't be fixed because the APU and the SSD storage are married to each other from what I've learned.

@@mrnapolean1liquid metal leaking has only been reported in systems that have been previously opened or tampered with, if it's not broken don't try to fix it?

@@travislagerwerf4174 because I don't want to dry spot on my APU. A dry spot on the APU will reduce its lifespan and increase its chances of failure. It's like running your computer with little to no thermal paste on the CPU. Will it work? Yes, well at last no.

Broken fan connector that's it man i'd buy that even though I have no interest in APS 5 or any new console for that matter. That's an easy fix

I just recently got a free ps5 which was owned by smokers smh... they used it as an ashtray and it smelled bad. But it kept shutting off saying it was overheated the big problem was that the liquid thermal paste was all dry, so I put new paste and it works like brand new!!!!!! Saved my self lots of money

Bad power supplies are the absolute bane of console functionality. The amount of them I’ve replaced to fix older consoles is stupid.

you may be able to fix the power supply. it looks like a capacitor may have blown. if you waited about 10 minutes and restarted the console. it should repeat the same problem. if it does, its the capacitor. easy fix there.

do you believe that standing a PS5 slim vertically puts the liquid metal at risk to leak? I've heard some stories about issues with the normal PS5 but nothing on how the slim is performing or if it even has an issue with the liquid metal.

No that issue was over 2 years ago and it only happens if your console has been opened up and put back together incorrectly
